For the beginning artist this is a decent book to start with. It's strength is in a variety of well-illustrated demonstrations that guide the novice through the painting process. I've marked a few stars off due to mislabeled items, swatches and a few items of information that I don't believe are correct. Despite that, as a whole, this is still a good resource.
