Doctor Noel Murphy was born in St Johns in 1915 . He was educated at ST Bonaventure College in St Johns , Ampleforth College , England, MIT., Boston; London Hospital, England; graduation from medicine in 1942 . In 1943 Murphy joined the Royal Air Force and became medical officer for the 125 Newfoundland Squadron . In 1945 he returned to Newfie and was made medical officer in charge of Bonne Bay Cottage Hospital , Norris Point .Although he is also known for his life in politics and his career in radio, Cottage Hospital Doctor details the medical upon life of Dr Murphy upon his arrival to Norris Point . The only doctor between Deer Lake and St Anthony, his district spanned from the Bay of Islands to Reefs Harbour , St Barbe , covering a distance of about 120 miles and a .
