Review by Jill Williamson
Zondervan has updated and re-released Bill Myers’ Forbidden Doors series in four, three-volume sets. The Invisible Terror Collection is the second book in the set. If you haven't read the Dark Power Collection, read that one first.
Book 4: The Haunting
The Ascension Lady shows up at Becka and Scott’s door in the middle of the night, asking for Becka’s help in conducting a séance to speak with the ghost of a little girl trapped in the town’s “haunted house.” Scott throws the lady out, but Becka decides to check out the house to see if there is anything there. And when she sees a little girl, she wonders if the stories are true or if there is something worse going on.
Book 5: The Guardian
Becka’s friend Julie is injured in a hit-and-run accident and thinks she went to heaven and met and angel. When she comes out of her coma, the Ascension Lady gives her a crystal and urges her to seek out the angel again. But Becka is worried that Julie’s angel isn’t a good one, but one of the bad. Can she help her friend before it’s too late?
Book 6: The Encounter
Krissi has been receiving mysterious messages from an alien being. She knows that she is the chosen one, and Becka just wants to ruin everything. But when Krissy’s boyfriend Philip asks Becka for help and tells her how worried he is that there is something very dark going on, Becka decides to help, even though she knows this could be the most frightening experience yet.
This was another interesting volume. Book four picked up right where book three left off, and these next three stories read like one long book. Just as our characters are leaving the haunted mansion, Julie is hit by a car. Scott is mad at the Ascension Lady and plots his revenge via practical joke, which makes him useless as a help to what Becka is going through. Then Scott gets sucked into a video game addiction that also makes him useless to his sister. The stories mostly revolve around Becka, her friends, and the stuff they’re getting into.
This set of three stories really makes me think about how my attitude could affect my loving others when they need it. It’s a really powerful message everyone could benefit from. Great stories. Great message. Great wisdom. Loved it. If you’re looking for answers about using crystals to reach angels, talking with aliens or ghosts, read this book. It is filled with Godly wisdom on these topics that will give you entertainment and a little education too. Highly recommended.
