Alyssa Summers is orphaned and raised within a broken system yet she remains a fighter. Her one goal is to graduate college and to have a stable steady career as a nurse. One night she finds herself at The Merge a place to go and unwind with an exciting night. this is where she meets the owner Zac Williamson who knows what he wants and how to get it. As soon as he sets eyes on Alyssa he knows he has to get her. Zac saves Alyssa when she is put at risk of being drugged by her date. Does this cause an undeniable connection between them and will they forever be intertwined in each other's lives?
Kylie Kent will always have books for post-slumps. I don’t know what I would do without her. This woman cannot fail with her books and she will always be a comfort author to me.
It is safe to say I adore the way Alyssa's brain works she simply is way too relatable.
"It shouldn't be legal for men to walk around looking like this. I mean, this is how accidents are caused, women stunned by the beauty and all that. It's just plain dangerous. Dangerously beautiful is what he is."
"Let's go figure out who thinks they can take my man."
Zac being so open with his emotions showing off the ‘insta love’ trope was done well. I never do well with insta loves but something about the way Kylie writes the trope never irritates me. Sometimes as a reader you do not want a slow burn and Kylie Kent will solve that for you without making the pace feel wrong for the characters.
How could you just not fall for Zac, he just was adorable. The way he speaks to Alyssa in comparison to everyone else is just so cute. The times he says PLEASE ugh.
"I will share anything with you; what I will not share, under any circumstances, is you."
"If we have kids, that's up to us to decide, not anyone else. I don't want kids if it means not having you. There is nothing you can say that is going to make me want to look for anyone else, okay?"
"Sunshine, I would never hurt you. I don't want you to ever be afraid of that. I would cut my own hands off before I used them to cause harm to you. Please tell me you know this, please."
"First, you could never be in my way, sunshine. No matter where and what I am doing, you will always be my priority. Second, you just have to be in the same vicinity as me for me to notice you're there, and when you're not around, I notice your absence. Third, you can come, but you do not, under any circumstances, leave my side, okay?"
"The word love doesn't even begin to describe what I feel for you. I don't think there is a word to describe it. It's like you are a part of me. When I'm not with you, it's like I'm short of oxygen. I would love nothing more than to wake up with you in my arms every morning for the rest of my life, to spend the rest of my life loving you the way you deserve to be loved."
One consistent thing I adored between Zac and Alyssa is their ‘we will always have tomorrow.’ It was just way too cute to see them always reassure each other.
"Go to sleep, baby. We always have tomorrow."
I look up at him. "Promise?"
"I fucking swear it," he says, kissing me on the forehead, then my nose, then my lips."
"Sunshine, you are anything but a conquest. You're my tomorrow."
I adore Bray's character I just think he is so fun and lighthearted. I cannot wait to see what will happen between him and Reilly.
"Lyssa, don't take this the wrong way, because I like you, like really fucking like you. But could you maybe wait until you provide me with a nephew before you give my brother a heart attack? Because I'm fucking great uncle material. Uncle Bray has a ring to it, don't you think?"
I look up to the cage and hear the announcer call the start of Bray's fight. He's standing in the cage, looking over at us while staring intently at Reilly. He squints his eyes, mouthing the words, "What's wrong?" I shake my head and hold up one finger. It's our signal for me to need him to finish the fight in one round. He looks back to Reilly, and I swear I see something pass over him as his face hardens. Bray nods his head and turns as the announcer starts the countdown. As soon as he yells out one, Bray lands a solid punch to his opponent's jaw, knocking him out cold. Jumping from the cage, he storms over to us and pulls Reilly into his arms, rubbing his hands up and down her back and whispering something in her ear. For once, she doesn't fight off his touch. She hands him Alyssa's phone, and I watch as his face hardens before we all walk out of the basement together. Dean leading the way with Alyssa and Reilly between Bray and me
Alyssa and Reilly share such an adorable relationship. Cannot wait to see more moments between them in Reilly's book I could not get enough of them.
"You've been my boss for two minutes, Zac. She's been my best friend for five years. My loyalty is to her, not you."
The engagement scene was done perfectly it is such an accurate representation of Zac's personality. This was done exactly how I would have pictured it.
"Umm, Zac, honey, do you see anything on my hand? Anything at all?" I ask, my voice a little quiet and unsure. Zac grabs my hand and pulls it close to his face, turning my hand from front to back and inspecting it. "Well, I can see you've still got five fingers, clear skin, no signs of a rash." Turning my hand back over so the diamond is facing him, he adds, ‘Other than that three-carat diamond on your finger, I don't see anything else. What am I supposed to be looking for? "Still holding my hand, he looks up at my face. ‘Umm, Zac, how exactly did that diamond come to be on my finger?" I ask, still staring at the huge rock. "I put it there of course," he replies. That's it, no other explanation. "Okay, but I think you forgot the part where you asked me a very big question before you put a rock on my finger?" Zac raises my hand and kisses me just under where the rock sits. "I didn't forget. I was waiting for you to wake up. I thought I'd get a better answer when you're conscious and all."
