HERO /HEROINE Katherine Bennet “Kat”: Private teacher to a family that has 10 children.
Michael King: Grew up on the streets and a wealthy family took him in and taught him how to be the perfect protector and bodyguard for their family. Fell in love with Kat when he first saw her.
Prime Mezere: A Lio, which is a species that has the characteristics of lions/felines on two legs. Prime Mezere is a figurehead to the “Pride” ; he is like an Alpha that helps connect new “Honored Nels” to the rest of the Pride.
Commander Courau: A Lio, which is a species that has the characteristics of lions/felines on two legs. Commander Courau is the head of their “Fang ship.” I think he is in charge of protecting everyone that is a part of the “Pride”
Dominick: A Lio, which is a species that has the characteristics of lions/felines on two legs. Dominik is “Zumiel” to Prime Mzere. A Zumiel helps anchor a Prime’s beast nature. A Prize/Prime male goes feral and sometimes lost without a partner to ground them.

OVERALL THOUGHTS The world is nice and NEW. I love alien romance and this was really interesting to read about. Basically this is an entire book about how Kat and Michael, who are in love but have never voiced their feelings to each other, become part of the Lio race, and they then find their mates. The story then goes on to how the two new, Honored Lio’s learn how to become a part of the Pride and also connect to each other.
WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE Okay, don’t hate me but for such a short book, this had A LOT of information. Several new terms and meanings that were used constantly. I think this story and future stories in this series would benefit from a Glossary page that describes everything. I found myself too caught up in trying to understand the terms and how everyone is connected than to actually enjoy the story.
The culture is all new as well and I’m not sure if it was the writing structure or the way it was laid out for the reader but it wasn’t very enjoyable to read. Mostly I was confused. When it came time for the reader to get the explanations of the way the Lio culture was, there was dialogue or inner thoughts that stilted the flow of the story. I was often annoyed and had to take breaks to summarize what I was reading in my own words since it was described so oddly on the page.
Also, I can understand when the dialogue coming from aliens is stilted, or bland because there is a whole language barrier that is beyond Earth. But even when the English speaking humans would talk with each other or answer questions their sentence structure was off and not casual.
For the story, Michael and Kat are employed by a couple who had ten children. All of these children are gifted in some way, basically powers? Michael and Kat along with a group of other adults have a mission to take the children from a dangerous situation and deliver them to the Lio’s who promised them all protection until this dangerous situation is over and it’s safe for them to come back home. The ship they are on his tampered with and there is a dangerous quick escape. That’s how Kat and Michael end up with the Lio’s on their Fang Ship. But we get no conclusion on who tampered with the cruise ship, when will the children wake up from stasis, really anything. From there is just how to bring Michael and Kat into the fold and a copious amount of fluids.
FAVORITE QUOTES:“Do you want Kat, Michael?” “Yes.” “For now or forever?” “For my life and beyond.”
SAFETY
AGE: They don’t really talk about ages
SEXUAL HISTORY: No one is a virgin.
CONDOMS: No
HEAT LEVEL: 4/5
PUSH/PULL: No
SEPARATION: No
CHEATING: No
OW (Other Woman)/OM (Other Man) drama: A rival Pride comes aboard the Fang Ship and challenges the Pride for Kat and Michael.
SEX SCENE WITH OW/OM: Yes, we learn that Prime Mezere helps bring Honored Nel’s into the Pride by sexually relieving them. Which was interesting. I wish it was explained better. The dialogue was so annoying to read because of how stilted it is. Also, Kat is being helped through her heat after watching her men dry hump Michael and after they leave she is overheating. Her High Nessa, who is the female equivalent to what Prime Mezere is, just for the females, helps bring Kat to orgasm so she doesn’t overheat. Wild. And I don’t know if it was supposed to come across as hot or bonding? Idk again, it’s written so oddly that it was hard to understand the overall vibe of a lot of things. Also, throughout the entire mating and binding process they have people watching over them. The reason is, the males may become too overwhelmed with their beast nature and overcome Kat during mating so they are there for her protection. So they watch everything, with “gentle smiles on their faces.”
ABUSE: When we meet the challenging Pride, they talk an awful lot of shit about force bonding Kat and Michael to them and it would have basically been rape.
POSSIBLE PET PEEVES/TRIGGERS Voyeurism, Copious amount of fluids from everyone, a crap ton of growling
Ultra-hot and steamy MMFMM menage, crossed swords, four MMCs and 1 FMC, light FF instance. The story jumps right in with Kat (h), Michael (H), and the children escaping an exploding spacecraft and finding themselves with Lios who may not have been the ones they were initially planning on meeting up with, but were the Lios, Mezere (H), Dominik (H) and Courau (H) that Kat and Michael needed. Love the societal structuring with the Lios and the Honored Lios, with the intricate mating practices and open sexuality. The relationship between the males was great to see how it built and how Michael grew with the support of his Coalition was wonderful, and then to have Kat be so in charge of whether or not she chose the males allowed her such power. Really great worldbuilding that wasn’t what would be expected on a spaceship. Looking forward to finding out what happened to the other escape pods and the children and their parents.
Other than being in third person (which is my own struggle ) I absolutely loved this. It’s def a new category for me , never read a book featuring characters and a plot like this , but i really enjoyed it. The fmc was amazing , all the characters were actually. Def makes me want to read more lol
As a concept I like this book, it’s an interesting spin on mates, aliens, bonding, and poly/reverse harem.
Reading this felt like reading a first draft of the story. The amount of weird grammar and grammatical errors was painful. The dialogue did not flow. And every passage was choppy. This book read like it was poorly translated into English.
I think with some help this story would be really good. At this point though I cannot recommend reading it unless you want to reread entire passages and rephrase dialogue in your head to make it make sense.
Read and bought for free thanks to stuff your kindle day, this was an almost interesting space fantasy book... except that 80% of the story is just smut or preparation for smut. The world building was harsher than Crescent City because there are no real explanations for any of the real curiosities, just more mating. While I was hopeful this would either be a decent sci-fi read or a completely weird romance book, it was a small amount of both. I wouldn't read it again, but ah well.
Plot? What plot? You’re looking at a lion-themed exhibitionist instalove MMMMF space erotica, and if you thought that was a mouthful, wait until you get to the names! This book presented with a lot of information about the alien mating/bonding/society structure all at once, and I was pretty confused most of the time. The spicy scenes were good, which is worth mentioning because they basically carried the book when the plot entirely failed to coalesce.
I really wanted to like this. The plot seemed super interesting, but there was just too much going on. The social structure and politics of the Lios was way too complex. I still don't understand it. The mating process was never fully explained to the humans, and it gave me the ick. The language was so weird and read like it had been sent through at translation app. And the pacing was so weird. All this buildup, about the mating, only for the sex scenes to be super rushed and kinda blah.
I looked it was slightly different to others I've read
I've read a lot of sci-fi romances and this one well there's a similar trait but with differences which makes it more interesting. I gave it four stars because some pieces felt like they were rushed it didn't follow where's the relaxed pace of the book. It was definitely a fun and enjoyable journey. Sabah for the win 🤣
I liked the plot and the characters, but I had several issues with the writing. It was repetitive, several plot points kept happening and resolving throughout the book. If the explanations about the Lio were meant to be mysterious they only seemed lacking.
The beginning started off well and made me have high hopes for the book. It was very interesting to learn about a world with genetically boosted humans and Lio prides.
However, the long-winded mating ritual disconnected me. How many times does our poor Kat has to accept her mates?
Even the appearance of another Lio pride attempting to steal Kat and Michael was lackluster. The fight did not last long but kuddos for making the humans actually part of the fight.
As for the spice, it was decent but I expected it to be more dirty and gritty 🤓
I know this is book 1 of the series but I definitely wanted more details about the foul play that prompted the rescue at the beginning of the book.
Belongs to the anthology titled - Claimed Among the Stars by V.K. Ludwig This is item 36 in the anthology's reading order It is also part of a series titled: A Science Fiction Romance LionMen Fantasy - Savage Planet Series 1.Savage Planet Embrace 2.Savage Planet Secret
I just couldn't finish it. I thought I would like it because I've read books similar to it before I read up to 49% and I was done. Maybe it's for you but it didn't hold onto me.
This is a why choose with Kat, Michael, and three lion men. I like that there was a human male female couple and then the three lion men that was new and different. I really liked the world building and I'm curious what they're going to do with the children that Kat and Michael were taking care of and what the next steps are going to be for this family group.
A really different book with complete world building. Love the Lio, love how passionate and adorable they are. Love the tails!! The purring, the cat like behaviours, it is just a fun book.
