Let me say I was a bit disapointed when I realized this wasn't the sequel to Simon Death High but I eventually got over it and liked this one a lot more.
When it first starts off you get this feeling like the author doesn't really know much about suicide or cutting or how they'd react to being found out. I'm not saying I'm an expert, but I've read a ton of books about it, plus learned about some stuff in my psychology class. So it didn't seem completely real.
Even though I remember them mentioning Karen in Simon Death High I couldn't remember why. At times I'd liked her more than Cassie.
Jordan, was oh my... I loved him. I can not explain to you why, but right off the bat I was like he's soo cute, and then continued to fangirled over him. I liked him in Simond Death High but he wasn't around that much, so I already knew Cassie and him would get together, but just the way they started to be together, I loved it. It seemed so real and emotional (but without being over emotional and sappy).
So even if I didn't like Blair Burden's writing on suicide, she at least can write good love stories. Oh and she has a knack for creepy charaters; Like Linda, Raymond and Cassie's mom. Wow. Blown away.
I gave this book 4 stars. It was a great read, but there were times that I wanted to jump in the book and grab Cassie and shake her. When Karen wanted to talk to her or give her the letter she would yell or freak out. When she entered Karen's home and was there later on she would yell and act childish with Karen's parents when it was not her home. Or how she would allow a principle to be rude it was just weird with the whole Smith guy, not to mention the Dr. that she was referred to who didn't even give her a chance to explain herself, just thought she was crazy. It is kind of hard to explain, but you would have to read the book to probably understand what I am meaning. I do like how she was able to save someone's life without any thought about what she was doing. I am glad it was 412 pages I finished it in 2 days time. I just wish Cassie wasn't so over the top with the drama. But overall good read.
