Domenic "The Hammer" Martinelli got what he wanted - always. What was the use of being a Mob boss if you didn't? But Bridget Sullivan wasn't his usual fare, and that just seemed to make her that much more attractive to him - despite her annoyingly independent tendencies. Bridget didn't quite know what to make of Dom, especially when he took her over his knee in the middle of his office, or sent roses to the library where she worked. How could a rich, frighteningly powerful man like him find anything worth bothering with in a plain, poor, working-woman like herself?
Carolyn was one of you as a kid, with the intriguing seeds planted in her head of the shivering thrill-thoughts that came with words like spanking, or discipline. As with you, those kinds of words and thoughts connected the heated blush of her cheeks with feelings elsewhere, which got more and more interesting the older she got.
I bet you know just what I'm talking about.
Like some, she started writing down these thoughts, escaping into short stories of reluctant heroes willing to take someone they love in hand when it's for her own good... and more shadowy thoughts as her imagination matured.
And like some, she started sharing her writings in newsgroups once she gained some confidence.
There's nothing like the perfectly-turned phrase, the handful of words that can make a feeling wash over you. And if you're reading this, then you have within you some intense feelings that most of the world doesn't understand -- but Carolyn does, and she writes those passions with wondrous abandon. Her specialties are Spanking Romance and Adult Ageplay, so we've grouped the many examples of her work that way.
Spanking Romance Classics are sweeping love stories which dare (in a very un-PC way) to allow their heroine to feel the special love of a strong man who will take her in hand when it's best for her. Carolyn writes very real, rich characters and stories that aren't just excuses to jump from spanking scene to spanking scene. If the timeless tango of pursuing ardor touches you, and the head-rush of Adoring Discipline intrigues you, then you'll love Carolyn's stories!
I was really surprised by how much I loved this story. Ms. Faulkner's books are kind of hit or miss with me. Prima and Tria were just too harsh and I really despised the male MCs and I liked Sheik's Desire and Submissive Desires (but wasn't crazy about the male MC in the latter book). But I LOVED Domenic Martinelli in Dangerous Love! Sexy, dangerous (he's a Mob boss), VERY dominant, but also sweet and protective. *sigh*....
Just a warning that if you don't enjoy BDSM and/or spanking novels, dominant men, etc. this really isn't the book for you. Ms. Faulkner's books have 100% unapologetically man-in-charge characters and themes. Also, even though this is book three in the Priceless Love Trilogy, this and the other 2 books are standalones and don't need to be read in order to read this one.
It was interesting to see both the hard and soft size of "The Hammar". Also it was easier to see how the relationship could develop between all the men. I really loved the ending.
Dom becomes smitten when Bridget stops to offer assistance with a flat tire. Bridget is attracted but wary because Dom is a gangster. She tries to avoid him but he keeps doing nice things for her that she does not appreciate leading to her confronting him then being spanked for disrespect and disobedience. Eventually Dom's illegitimate work intrudes and Dom places Bridget and her brother in a safe place only to have her run away. Can he protect her? Will they admit their love?
I enjoyed this story. I felt Dom did take to spanking Bridget too often and too quickly in their relationship. I understand his wanting to protect her, but I also understand her wanting to be independent. Both are not good with communicating with one another and are at cross purposes often. I do like that his mother takes Bridget's side often as she tries to get him to soften his actions and words.
I look forward to reading more of this series and this author.
It is a delicate balance to have a hero be domineering to the extent that he is dismissive but still be endearing and vulnerable. Ms. Faulkner has captured both in Domenic, Jr. Frankly, I've always wondered how spankings are to improve behavior when they have to be given so frequently without any noticeable deterrent effect, but I enjoy them too much to care. This book could become a favorite.
This was my least favorite of the Priceless Love series. Ironically (considering he's a gangster) this hero is less harsh with the heroine than the previous two.
This is Caroline Faulkner light. There are definitely punishment spankings, but there's also romance (some of her stuff is very dark).
