This is a great book to keep with your daily devotional reads. Lancelot Andrewes has a prayer style that is rare and uncompromisingly beautiful. Written in the Elizabethan English of the 17th century his liturical prayers transport you back to a time of living with the saints of the reformation. I find those saints joining me in my daily quiet time every time I open his book. This is not a book to be read and shelved. It is one that lives with you day by day and year and by year.

One of the most profound and intimate books on daily prayer I've ever read. The David Scott edition has a translation from the Latin that feels fresh and contemporary. Appears to be out of print, but is available used. It's certainly going on my wish list. :)
