“Telescopes” is a short picture book for young children. It contains vibrant illustrations, rhymes and a sprinkling of science, and was written and illustrated by an astrophysicist (and parent!).
Rose is currently an astrophysicist at the University of St Andrews in Scotland. They completed their PhD in 2023. Their research focuses on modelling the formation of “prominences” (hydrogen clouds) on young solar-like stars and trying to understand their importance for young suns and their orbiting planets. Outside of research they can be found exploring with their toddler and spaniel, reading and doing science outreach. You can find them online in various places, such as Instagram (@astrophysicist_rose) and YouTube (Astrophysicist Rose).
