def a freaky horror dystopian type story, watched the movie first and id say the movie did it a lot better. but the story was still captivating, although stephen king is a freak and rambles on a lot. Ending was okay but compared to the rest of the book was anticlimatic, yet makes sense. a lot couldve been explored more on in this book and a lot of weird scenes as well. still a goodread.
Just finished The Long Walk by Stephen King and… whew. This book is wild. It starts simple but gets heavier with every step. You really feel what these characters are going through — physically and mentally. It’s dark, unsettling, and kind of beautiful in a messed-up way. King is a master at showing what people can do when survival’s on the line. Definitely one of those stories that sticks with you.
And honestly, I can’t wait to see the movie adaptation. Hoping they capture all that tension and darkness on screen!
Loved it until the ending, I felt that it just fell flat, a big build up for no payoff. I would have liked more lore around the walk, why is it in place, who started it, how long has it been going on for, some history about past winners etc.
This book reminds me of Hunger Games, or probably the other way around but I read this after Hunger Games. I loved it, couldn't walk away from it but the end disappointed me.
