(Q & A format)
Lets see if I can put my jumbled thoughts into a coherent review.
Q: So, what did I think about this book?
A: Hmmm, how do I explain… AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There :) Its not coherent, just like I suspected lol
Q: Is that a good or bad ahhhhhhhh?
A: Bad, a very bad ahhhhhh! I think its one of the most infuriating books I have ever read!! It made me want to cry in frustration, and bang my head against something hard (preferably a wall)! But I didn’t because everyone was sleeping at the time. lol
Halfway through the book I strongly considered stopping right there. But I didn’t because I didn’t want to give up on the book just yet. I think somewhere deep down I was hoping for the book to get better. Man, I should’ve just stopped there. However, it did get a little interesting, for a little bit.
I really got into it when Aden possessed the witch’s body to get information. I was like, “Yes! Finally this is getting interesting!” This was like halfway into the book. From there until the part where they were in the cave with the witches and the fairies, vampires, and werewolves were outside of it fighting, I was happy. This was towards the end of the book and I thought, “Huh. I think I‘m really going to like this ending (and the book, for that matter) after all.” Boy was I wrong!
After the incident with the witches and the fairies, Mary Ann had to leave town because the vampires and werewolves wanted to kill her
That I can deal with.
But you remember Elijah’s oh-so-famous vision about Aden getting stabbed in the heart in a street? Well it finally came true!!!! OMG!! We all knew that was inevitable, but Aden didn’t even fight the guy who stabbed him!! And Victoria did nothing as well! She could’ve used her voodoo voice (like Mary Ann calls it) or something! But noooo, nothing! And that wasn’t the worst part.
The idea of souls being trapped inside of someone for apparently no reason (that we know of yet) is fantastic! But this series was very disappointing. After I read the first book, I decided to give this one a chance.
Q: Was it worth it?
A: Not really.
Plus, I didn’t really like any of the characters. That’s weird because I usually always like at least one, and if the book is lucky enough, more than one :)
Victoria- Never liked her. She creeps me out, and I just plainly cant stand her! Don’t ask me why, ‘cause truthfully, I don’t know.
Riley- Don’t care for him.
Mar Ann- Umm…she’s okay.
Aden- I wish I could say that I love him, but I cant. I don’t hate him either…he’s alright.
And okay, maybe I lied, a little. I actually do like some of the characters.

*takes another deep breath* And I hate myself because I’m very tempted to read the third book. I think in order for me to actually like this series, some things would need to be fixed in the following book:

Oh my God! I swear even if I liked Intertwined, I haven’t expected Unraveled to be so good. I just couldn’t stop reading and I forgot to breath a dozen of times. The book is wonderful. While Gena wasn’t steady with her writing in Interwined, she got homerun with this one.
The narrative is excellent. The voices are much better to comprehend now, the story flies and the actions are perfect. I seriously was uptight the whole book, and the ending was amazing! What isn’t amazing is the fact that I have to wait till September 2011 for the sequel.
Unraveled is a ride. You feel sorry a couple of time—who am I trying to fool? You feel sorry all the time—for Aden, and I think Mary Ann development in this book is amazing. The things we learn about the main plot are fundamental, and the romance is well put. I love Victoria. I seriously love Victoria, and it is difficult for me to like a girl in a book. But she is funny—even if she isn’t trying to be, but her tries sure are hilarious—and fierce. Love her.
Aden, too, is a main character that I like. I know, right? This month I’ve read two books where I liked the main characters—for those who doesn’t know what I’m talking about, I like Rose from Vampire Academy too— and Aden is totally the one I like more! He is funny, and now he isn’t so confusing to read anymore. I don’t know exactly if I’m the one that accepted the voices better, but I think they are better written now. Much more better written.
I’m in a Unraveled high since I finished it, so… Please, if you already read it, talk to me!
The only think that doesn’t let me give it a full 5 books in the rating is the fact that I found some confusing paragraphs, that even the high didn’t cloud to me. It isn’t something that taint the story, but it bothered me, so it counts as a negative point.
What made me love this book more is the fact that we found a great plot underneath what seemed to be a common plot in the first book. We actually got hooked, and Gena finally discovered how to hook us in her teen world. Some parts are so ironical or nonchalant that turned the plot richer. Amazing, really! She outgrow herself in this book, in my opinion, and can be now be known as a writer for whatever age.
A great book, putting this series I already liked in the main spot for me. Now, I need to read the others books by Gena!

As much as I adore these series, I can't stand it. I just find the characters unbelievably unbelievable, and the only thing that kept me going was to find out what was gonna happen in the end. Now that I have, I probably will end up reading the next book too. Should be intereting.

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G-!!!!!!!!!
I seriously loved this book as much as the first one- if not more!
Riley stayed true to how he was in the first book... but he was so much sweeter and protective over everyone. He stayed with Mary Ann even when she pushed him away, even when he found out what she was.. he still stayed and protected her- and even at the end, he followed her! Riley had me squealing and getting excited and 'ooh-ing and aww-ing' throughout the whole book xD
Although i do feel really sorry for his brothers because of the curse, but i think they will move on from it and find true loves of their own ^^
But seriously... how annoying was Caleb?! I mean, yeah i know poor guy thinks he knows her and blah blah, but come on! He nearly got them into trouble so many times -.-
And how selfish was Victoria at the end of this book? To turn him without his consent or thinking of the consequences.. and then she stuffs it up and gives him her beast and takes the souls- which means that she doesnt know how to control them and she wont know how to keep them calm or stop them from possessing people's bodies or of finding out how to get them to move on :(
I really hope Riley and Mary Ann join together again and find a cure for her becoming a Drainer- coz then it will mean that they can never be together... and that just WONT do!
But i think it will work out with the next book and they will defeat Vlad and come out victorious! :D :D

I read the first book in this series and enjoyed it enough that I wanted to read this next book in this series. I picked up a copy back when it was released. I started reading it and got about half way. However something happened and my interest got lost along the way. I stopped reading and this book ended up in my long pile of to be read books. I would pass this book many times and thought I need to pick this book up again and finish it. I finally did and at this time I started from the beginning as it had been so long ago since I read this book. Well I did get about half way again but this time it seemed that it took me a lot longer to get to the half way mark. over this book and jumped to the last few chapters. To be honest the ending was not as I had hoped and I was kind of glad that I had not spent all of my time reading this book to get to this ending. Even though I lost interest in this series, I still do enjoy reading this author's books.

THIS REVIEW WILL HAVE A BOAT LOAD OF SPOILERS. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!
I waited for the sequel to 'Intertwined' for a year. I was really excited because I thought 'Intertwined' was awesome. So when I finally picked up 'Unraveled' I was pretty disappointed.
'Unraveled' takes place immediately after 'Intertwined' and takes place for about a week.
The overlying issue for our heroes is the meeting with the witches they have to go to, and if they don't go to it all of them will be killed. Only problem is that they don't have the time or place for the meeting. So they spend the novel stalking witches to figure it out. When the meeting was finally called, it was like... that's it? Really?
The second issue for our heroes is that Vlad is not dead. Which really was not surprising. But Vlad has Tucker (remember Tucker? Mary Ann's ex who knocked up Penny) stalk our heroes. I thought that was more than lame. Vlad is using a half demon to spy for him? He's Vlad the Impaler, mother fucker. He can take on Aden Stone himself.
Then there's the new magical creature introduced, the Drainer. A person who only survives by sucking the life force of magical beings. And go figure, Mary Ann is revealed to be a Drainer. I feel like her character has been ruined now. I loved that before she repelled magic. Now even Riley is scared of her because of what she is. It didn't help that Mary Ann was either whining about how she might be a Drainer or whining about how Riley might not love her anymore for the entire novel.
The final issue is that plot of Elijah's prediction of Aden's death. Throughout the novel it's all Victoria thinks or talks about. I would have thought that Ms. Showalter would have used this plot for I dunno the whole book series not killing Aden off until the final moments of the novel. But... nope. She used Elijah's prophecy of his death in book 2. Tucker who is working for Vlad kills Aden. To save Aden, Victoria uses her mighty vampire blood in a weird transfusion. The result being that Aden is now a vampire while Victoria is human and has Caleb, Elijah and Julian in her head.
Characterization wise, Mary Ann and Victoria were just whining about their boyfriends while Riley and Aden were being all bad ass and saving the world. It was over 500 pages of that and it was more than annoying.
'Intertwined' took me about two days to read. 'Unraveled' took me about 3-4 months. It took so long because I didn't want to read such crap so I kept avoiding it. I was sad that this was the sequel I had been waiting for.
There will be a sequel to 'Unraveled' called 'Twisted' which I am probably going to read but I don't have high hopes for it.
I am honestly not sure who I would recommend this book to. You need to read 'Intertwined' to understand this novel, and to me this was just a horrible sequel.

Ahhhh, wow! Seriously just wow! I’m not sure I quite have the words to describe how good I thought this book was.....
I loved Intertwined and going into this one I was excited, ecstatic and....nervous. Sometimes sequels never quite live up to the original, but I’m pleased to say that I thought this one was just as good.
This book was so much more heart wrenching than the first. So many things happend and just when I thought things were toning down or slowing down.....boom, something massive happened and everything was turned upside down. It was filled with shocks, twists and gasp worthy moments.
Mary Ann, oh my god, Mary Ann! I can’t believe she’s actually a Drainer. It seems impossible what she can be something so horrible when she herself is so sweet. My heart broke for her and Riley in this book, it really did. It was one of those things that halfway through the story you knew that they weren’t gonna get their happy ending, that they were gonna be torn apart and yet you kept hoping and praying for a different outcome right up until she left. I desperately hope that they’ll find away to be together in the next book, especially considering that Riley didn’t ‘really’ let her go alone. He’s tracking her and hopefully they find a way to sort everything out.
And what about everything that happened with Aden? King of the vampires and beast tamer. It was awesome to see how the vamps begin to accept him (and fear him, he he) as their king. I loved how he managed to get control over the vamps beasts. It was really interesting and I look forward to finding out the how and why in future books.
I was hoping to discover Celeb’s past with the witches a bit more, and was disappointed that we didn’t, but I’ll have my fingers crossed that we learn soon.

One of the reasons I loved the first novel in this series, Intertwined, was because it was the ultimate paranormal read. You like vampires, it’s got em. Werewolves? Got those too! Fairies, witches, goblins, demons... you betcha! It’s like a creature overload and I love it.
Unraveled didn’t disappoint.
Intertwined was more of an introduction novel... you meet Aden, lean about his ‘abilities’ and you meet the three other characters; Victoria, Mary Ann and Riley. Unraveled is a lot more action! And revelations! I thought I knew these characters after book one but that was only the tip of the iceberg. Whew.... I’m a little heartbroken at some of those revelations...
I have to admit that, I was absolutely enthralled in Riley and Mary Ann’s story. Aden and Victoria, who? Not that the parts about Aden and Victoria were boring, there were quite the opposite actually, and that ending, holy wow. Even though this book is a little on the chunky side, it took me no time at all to read. Mainly because I could not put it down. Something was always happening to our fabulous foursome... There are so many plot threads flying around, yet Showalter manages to weave them all back together. You’d think I wouldn’t be surprised by the magnificence of it, I read so many of her novels.
And the ending.... I can’t even describe my frustration! How could you do that to me!
The one thing that knocked it down from a five star to a four, was because I thought it lacked any resolution.... sure we learned some new things and characters are taking different roads.... but nothing was really accomplished.

Unraveled didn’t disappoint.
Intertwined was more of an introduction novel... you meet Aden, lean about his ‘abilities’ and you meet the three other characters; Victoria, Mary Ann and Riley. Unraveled is a lot more action! And revelations! I thought I knew these characters after book one but that was only the tip of the iceberg. Whew.... I’m a little heartbroken at some of those revelations...
I have to admit that, I was absolutely enthralled in Riley and Mary Ann’s story. Aden and Victoria, who? Not that the parts about Aden and Victoria were boring, there were quite the opposite actually, and that ending, holy wow. But I was just more interested in reading about Riley and Mary Ann, and I did not get nearly enough of them.

I'm beginning to think I need to eat my words when I say that the second book usually disappoints. As of late, that has so not been the case. After reading Intertwined, I might not have read Unraveled had it not been for that fact that I won a copy of it. I would have missed an excellent addition to a series I will be continuing!
Poor Aden! All he wants to do is have a normal life, attend high school, etc. But, now he's the king of the vampires. He has to make decision regarding blood-slaves, challenges, and finding a Queen. It was not surprising no one would accept that all he wanted was Victoria. Not to mention he has to deal with the witches. His abilities are really starting to come through, and I find him a really interesting character. It's no wonder everybody wants a piece of him. Speaking of Victoria, I liked learning more about her and why she is the way she is. She seems more like a person now and not just a character throw into the story.
I LOVED Mary Anne and Riley in this story. Their romance is sweet and sometimes raw and emotional. I like the new development of what Mary Anne really is. I also really loved how that didn't matter to Riley. I wonder how much trouble he will be in for what he has done to protect her. It should make for some interesting subject matter in the next installment.
I also enjoyed the involvement of the witches and the fae in this one. I love it when a story twists how you normally think of a mythical creature (although the fae weren't that different). I did think the ending with the witches was really anti-climatic. It was way to abrupt, but I guess the author felt there were more pressing matters at hand. I really enjoyed the ending. Since I'm sucking at posting reviews I've decided to let Goodreads do the work for me. I'm hoping this will at least let me express my thoughts on the title at the very minimum even though it might not be formatted as I have in the past.

Amazingly perfect. Awaiting the next book already! :)
Gena Showalter never fails to impress me.
What I love about Gena's YA series is that it's relevant to the young adult age group while so full of awesome that adult readers would love this series too, which I do and probably a little bit more than I do her adult books but I might only say that because it's been a while since I've read one of her adult books. ;)
If you enjoy any of Gena's adult series you'll probably just love this series. If you love any paranormal adult series I'm sure this series would fit you too.
I'm eagerly awaiting the next book in this series, which is titled Twisted and set to publish 09/11/11!!

Aden Stone used to be considered a crazy, an outcast. Since coming to Crossroads, Oklahoma though life has been looking up. His home life at the D and M Ranch is pretty decent. He's trying to do well in school. He even has a friends and a girlfriend. So maybe some of those friends are vampires and werewolves, and maybe there are still three souls chatting him up in his head. Things could be worse, he could be about to be crowned king of the vampires in spite of the fact he's a human.
This story dragged on and I felt lost through some of it so much going on. I did not read the first book of this series so I may be missing some good points to get this book better. Anyways I thought that the book was too wordy why some authors go on and on to lose what the story was trying to tell you. I know sometimes more is good when trying to tell a story but when your telling the story to fill the space it does not help.

I'm back in Crossroads baby! I probably shouldn't be this excited about being back with Aden and his friends, considering they do have a death curse on them, but I can't help it. I couldn't wait to get back into this fantastical fictitious world created by Showalter. There's murder, intrigue, love ... and werewolves! Who wouldn't be?
Aden has found a way to be with the love of his young life, Victoria the vampire. All he had to do was kill her betrothed, the Vampire King who murdered her father, and now, BAM! Aden is Vampire King. All is fair in love and war, right? Wrong. Not only is Aden a human, (hello...vampire food), but when a vampire king chooses his queen, he has to "date" all the acceptable, eligible young" ladies" from high ranking vampire families in order to not cause an inter-vampire war. Would that settle well with you, if you were Victoria? I think not. Add to that, Aden learns that vampires carry a little extra something inside their bodies that makes them, shall we say...demonic? No, there is no happily ever after for Aden and Victoria. They will have to fight in order to stay together. Don't lose faith though, Aden is far more resourceful than I ever imagined. Despite the whole diagnosed schizophrenic thing, it might be really cool to be him with those skills. Victoria, thankfully, isn't being a spoiled brat about all the obstacles in their way. She comes up with some pretty amazing character moments herself.
I have to admit this now. I have my first werewolf crush ever! Riley, Victoria's bodyguard and now Aden's, is the best werewolf character I have seen written. If you could ask for the perfect man/werewolf/pet, Riley would be it. He's loyal to no end. He's manly (his words, not mine, but I do agree.) His body is to be admired. He is smart and calculating. He demands respect without actually demanding it. I could go on, but this review isn't just about Riley (sigh.) His relationship with Mary Ann is a bit rocky, despite their obvious loyalty to each other. It seems Ms. Mary Ann has a secret of her own, one she didn't know she had. Riley is the first to figure it out after he finds her "feeding" on a witch's magic, just draining it right out of her. In Mary Ann's defense, she didn't know she was doing this, but as all young love requires tension, this puts a damper on her ability to date Riley. You see, Riley, his kind, and really all magical creatures, are sworn to kill people like Mary Ann on sight. Turns out, Mary Ann is destined to kill everyone with magical abilities, and one day will kill Riley and those he loves. I guess that would put cold water on the smoldering fire they feel for each other. But, not with my Riley. Although Mary Ann does something drastic to keep her friends safe, Riley is determined to keep Mary Ann safe and with him.
Through all of this, Aden and his friends are trying to find a way to make sure the death curse put upon them by the witches will be nullified. With the help of Aden's friends and his inner voice souls, they search for answers to save their lives before it's too late. Faeries keep getting in the way, witches and goblins are lurking about, and Tucker the half demon ex-boyfriend, has returned to spy on them and report back to his master. I can't tell you the most scary part. The part about Vlad the Impaler, Victoria's supposed dead dad, being alive and wanting to take the crown back from Aden. Aden doesn't even know this yet, how could I tell you?! The cherry on top of all this bad news? Aden still knows how he is going to die and now bares the marks on his side that brings him closer to his death. He just doesn't know the when. Just sayin', he has that stress too.
The ending, shall I tell you about the ending? I can't because Showalter left me clueless too! But, it's a doosey as we say in Oklahoma, I can tell you that. In agony for the next the book!
Unraveled is a wonderful addition to the Intertwined series. Showalter kept the pace and intrigue going the whole time. I am so excited to see where this series is going. I have a lot of respect for Showalter's style of writing. I have no idea how she comes up with the things she does and keeps it all straight to weave such a tale. Once you think you know all there is to know about a character, out comes some other aspect you never saw coming, but definitely adds to the story. I know better than to assume I know where things will go based on usual cliches. I am going to enjoy not trying to second guess an author and just let the story ride. If I gasp, I gasp. If I cry, I cry. If I get mad at Mary Ann because she ends up with Riley, I guess I just get mad...wait, that was going a bit far and just plain silly, sorry. I am already missing Crossroads and its crazy supernatural pull. I may need to take a road trip while waiting for the next book in the series and see if I can't find this place. The characters did take a short trip to Tulsa in the book...

Love Gena, Hated This Book
Aden Stone used to be considered a crazy, an outcast. Since coming to Crossroads, Oklahoma though life has been looking up. His home life at the D and M Ranch is pretty decent. He's trying to do well in school. He even has a friends and a girlfriend. So maybe some of those friends are vampires and werewolves, and maybe there are still three souls chatting him up in his head. Things could be worse, he could be about to be crowned king of the vampires in spite of the fact he's a human. Oh wait... maybe things aren't as shiny as they were starting to look.
This time around there are faeries, witches and strange spirit beasts in the mix. Top that off with a lot more drama, not-so-mysterious mysteries and your daily dose of paranormal malfunction and you get Unraveled.
I hate writing negative reviews. It's rare for me to write a "hated it" review but gosh darnit, I hated Unraveled. It's taken me two months to slog my way through this massive volume only to feel like the one thing I was reading it for--to find out more about the souls still stuck with Aden and hopefully see another one get free--wasn't really given much attention. I love Gena, she's not only a talented writer but a just plain cool author when it comes to her fans. This series though, now that I've had two samples, just isn't for me.
My main issues were the constant whining from Mary Ann, Victoria's personality shifts that made no sense to me, the draggy pace, too many things going on at once (made me think of that saying "too many witches spoil the brew") made it near impossible to latch onto one and enjoy it and overall the main reason I didn't give up after the first book was the souls storyline which barely was touched on this time around. The only things I enjoyed were the spirit beasts bits and Stephanie, Victoria's sister. I wish I could think of any more redeeming qualities for this one but I just can't. While I will continue reading Showalter's adult books I don't plan on reading the Intertwined series from here on out.

Why I Read this Book: Intertwined, the first book in this series, was a really interesting book to read. There was lots of paranormal elements mixed in together and a very interesting premise of a boy, Aden, who’s possessed with souls. I wanted to read Unraveled to see what would happen next with Aden and the rest of the characters.
What I Liked: The author is constantly throwing curveballs to the mix and definitely doesn’t make it easy for any characters in this story. Just when you think Aden and the crew are in the clear, they find themselves in a new predicament. There was a very interesting turn of events at the end of this book. The ending was completely unexpected and brilliant. I totally did not seeing it coming! Quite the cliffhanger ending too. There was quite a few unanswered questions, as well as some new ones, making me want to read the next book in this series.
The souls made me laugh and this part cracked me up:
What I Didn’t Like: For me, Aden and Victoria’s relationship took a back burner in this book; I was more focused on Mary Ann and Riley’s romance. Another thing that took the focal point away from Aden was the new development concerning Mary Ann. It felt like it took away from the main focus of the book, which I thought was suppose to be Aden and his souls.
At times it felt like there was too much description. I was wanting more doing and less thinking. It got a little to over analytical at times. I would expect that with a book told in first person POV but not with the 3rd person narrative that Unraveled was written in.
There was something in particular I was expecting to happen in this book (it happened in Intertwined and it seemed that this thing was going to be a reoccurring event in each book in this series) but it didn’t and I was left shocked and a bit disappointed. It seemed that the story was getting there with this particular thing but it didn’t follow through and I had a hard time swallowing that. Sorry about being so vague but I don’t want to give too much away.
Overall Impression: Unraveled felt slow in beginning but it did pick up. And when it did pick up, it took off. It’s one of those books you need to be in the mood for. Unraveled, and this series for that matter, is no light, fluffy read. There is a lot going on and you need to be in the right mindset when you read this book. It took me a little over 2 weeks to read this book. I started it only to put it down shortly after and came back to it when I was ready. And since there is a lot going on in this series, you may want to re-read Intertwined if it’s been awhile since you’ve read it. The author does a good job at refreshing the reader with the events that took place in the first book but you’ll want a full recollection of things to fully grasp Unraveled. (You can also do what I did – find someone who has recently read Intertwined and pick their brain.)
Fans of YA paranormal romance will enjoy the blend of paranormal creatures found in Unraveled: vampires, werewolves, goblins, faeries and demons. There is a lot to look forward to in the next book; a lot of questions to be answered.

Unraveled introduced very few new characters, which was a major plus. We're finally getting to see more of the many that showed up briefly in Intertwined. A lot of questions were raised in Unraveled. The problem is there were almost no answers provided. The book ends with a huge new issue without resolving any of the many issues that have come up in either book. While I enjoyed the ride, I found myself unsatisfied in the end, wondering when if we would ever actually be given answers or if the questions would just continue to pile up with no hope for closure in sight.
There is a lot of Mary Ann in Unraveled and much of the book seems more about her than about Aden. This would have been fine, if she or Riley, or anyone had been interested in getting to the bottom of what was going on with her. It seems as though everyone involved would like to live in a state of annoying denial. Aden remains an intriguing character but I fear we many never get the opportunity to understand his origins, especially now that things have changed in such a major way. I'm certainly curious as to what may come next, especially for Aden and Victoria, but not quite enough to be excited about reading any future books in this series.
The real problem with Unraveled, and the series thus far, is that it seems there is a complete lack of focus. Intertwined bombarded us with characters and supernatural races/abilities. Unraveled has continued the trend with unending plot twists that push the story forward without regard to how and why these things are happening. The characters and the story are very imaginative and could possibly be leading up to something incredible, but it's hard to keep going when it feels like there's a good chance the series will continue in this scattered, unsatisfying fashion.
There is a lot of Mary Ann in Unraveled and much of the book seems more about her than about Aden. This would have been fine, if she or Riley, or anyone had been interested in getting to the bottom of what was going on with her. It seems as though everyone involved would like to live in a state of annoying denial. Aden remains an intriguing character but I fear we many never get the opportunity to understand his origins, especially now that things have changed in such a major way. I'm certainly curious as to what may come next, especially for Aden and Victoria, but not quite enough to be excited about reading any future books in this series.
The real problem with Unraveled, and the series thus far, is that it seems there is a complete lack of focus. Intertwined bombarded us with characters and supernatural races/abilities. Unraveled has continued the trend with unending plot twists that push the story forward without regard to how and why these things are happening. Alright, so Unraveled starts two days after the ending of the last book, and I have to say I liked Intertwined a lot better than this one(yes, I only rated it 2 stars but it was a whole star better than the second book). It was such a paranormalcy overload. The souls were enough fun without the vampires and werewolves and witches and goblins
and faeries and vampires and. . .
I liked the characters a lot less in this book too. Except for Victoria. I still hate her as much as before. Oh, and except for the souls! Love them! Aden was okay I guess. I don't particularly like him though. Mary Ann seemed very dependent on other people but I like how she asked for lessons to protect herself. Riley's overprotectiveness was what attracted me to him in the first place, but in this book it just seemed kind of. . . much. Like Edward Cullen-much. Well, not that bad but still.
Now the romance between the characters was even worse. Many face-palms and 'Oh, you sappy creature!'s were involved when reading their little romantic scenes. And I didn't really see the chemistry between all of them. It was more like. . . they were each other's drug. 'I need you! Two days without you feels like eternity!' Sounds about right. Though I always have seen chemistry between Aden and Mary Ann. Yes, I still want them together!
But the ultimate con was the ending. The souls are inside Victoria. They and their relationship with Aden were the main reason I got into this series and now it's all wrong.
Gena Showalter is a very talented author, and despite my feeling on this book, it still had the same addicting effect the last one had. So if I could, I would rate this book a 1.2 :)

Ever since coming to crossroads Oklahoma, Aiden stone has been living the good life. Well if good life means a werewolf best-friend, a vampire princess girlfriend, and a supernatural drainer as a sister to him, then yeah its pretty good, not to mention the three souls living inside his head who can raise the dead, tell the future, and posses other bodies. Aiden knows that his life is going to end soon, by a knife through the heart, so he is trying to live it to the fullest. But when witches interfere with curses and the rest of the supernatural beings in the world suddenly are after him, he has to juggle protecting his friends, being a good vampire king after killing the betrayer to Victoria's passed father, gaining the respect of the vampires, passing high school, not getting kicked out of his boarding home, and trying to figure out who his parents are and how he ended up with three souls in his mind.

Wow... Seriously, I wanted to THROW the book across the room because I HAD FINISHED IT.
Words can't describe how AMAZING this book was. Every chapter, something new would be discovered and I would gasp over and over again.
I loved Intertwined and I was nervous when I got this book because a lot of books don't live up to the first. But this one BEAT the first!
Riley. Oh, Riley. He's one of my Top Werewolf Characters I want To Be With. Next to Gabriel from Blood and Chocolate. God, I love this man. Why did Mary Ann run away from him? I mean, I knew somewhere in the middle of the book, i sensed that things were going downhill but I prayed they'd have a happy ending but deep down I knew they wouldn't. And they didn't. Mary Ann RAN AWAY! Poor Riley!
THINGS THAT SURPRISED ME:
1) Mary Ann is a Drainer. I COULD NOT believe this. Sweet Mary Ann, the smart, funny Mary Ann. Mary Contrary is a freaking Drainer and even that isn't stopping Riley from being with her.
2) Aden's new therapist was actually Brendal? WTH? That I did not expect in a billion years!!
3) VLAD IS ALIVE! Seriously? Is Dmitri alive too? This just pissed me off.
4) Victoria now has the souls in her head and Aden has her beast. NO freaking way.
The whole book made me want to go crazy. I just couldn't believe ALL this was happening.
The only thing i didnt like was that we never really learned about what connection the witches and Caleb had. I really want to know.
This was a can't-put-down type of book and I recommend it to everyone!!! This book is AMAZING and I'm so excited to read the next in the series.

Okay, I have YET to read Intertwined(the first book) i saw this book at the Library so i started with it first.
All in All, this is a decent read.
The Voices Aden hears are actually the best part and I look forward to going back to Book 1 to get a better intro of them.
I love Riley and Mary Ann's relationship and their characters are very engaging in this book. I want a boyfriend like Riley :)
What I don't like:
Aden & Victoria.
Aden alone as a character without Victoria is pretty cool and I like that he has obvious struggles and his personal struggles and the struggles he has to deal with for others make a very well-written character.
Problem is...Victoria. She is the weakest part of Aden and the way he practically worships her.
Riley and Mary Ann's relationship seems more natural and normal with their obvious differences in personality, upbringing and how they view each other. Aden & Victoria's relationship seems forced and bores me to tears.
Victoria in the Cafeteria towards the beginning of the book seems to be a tough girl but with Aden she takes a backseat and becomes a stereotypical follower to Aden and whatever he does even though she is a Vampire and can cause more harm and damage than Aden can.
Mary Ann is a MUCH stronger and better developed character than Victoria and more exciting to read about.
Gena Showalter has talent to make a story a decent read with weak leads(Aden/Victoria) but this series is not a series you will want to read over and over again.
All in All, this is a decent read.

I don't know why I waited so long to get to the second book. The first was amazing, the second is just as great! I love this series so far. So different and unique that it's so much fun to delve into this world and get lost in such great characters.
In case you don't know, I love the souls. They crack me up! They are always seeming to cause Aden problems, headache and heartache. They keep Dan thinking he's not as okay as Aden tries to make him seem and they don't give Aden any sort of peace. But it makes for some great entertainment. I like that Aden has to speak out loud to them. Makes things tricky when he's around others and the souls are wanting answers.
Aden is a vampire king. I didn't think the ending of the last one would lead to anything that is actually in this book. Holy cow! I loved how Gena Showalter crafted this story. So much happens that left my head spinning with all sorts of possibilities. The twist with the vampires (you won't know unless you read the book) was a brilliant move on Gena Showalter's part. At first, I wasn't so sure, then after a big fight scene, I thought it was absolutely brilliant.
This is just a well crafted young adult novel. It was just a such a great read, I was glued to the book until the very last word. This is a must read. Run, won't walk, to your nearest bookstore!

I found Unraveled to drag a bit compared to the awesomeness of Intertwined. Eveybody is still trying to come to terms with Aden becoming the king of the vampires and they still have the witch curse looming over there heads as well as creatures still spilling from the woodworks trying to get at the new king, a title that Aden so totally has confessed he does not want and ponders over why Riley cant be the new king but yet there is a nagging moment every time he thinks of giving up the title.
I am also getting so sick of Mary Ann. Cant she just die or get hit with a fallen meteor or something? She is just so pathetic and goody goody two shoes I cant stand her anymore. She finds out she may be a threat to Riley and she decides she must break up with him to save him. I'm rolling my eyes by this time thinking ohh good grief not another one of those freaking story lines where the couple must break up to save each other and it keeps going back n forth back n forth.
On another note I am really happy to see Victoria blossoming out of her shell with new colored clothes, smiling more, and learning how to let her hair down. She has come a long way in such a short while and still have her fighting spirit intact.

Så var det en gång i tiden.
Men det förändrades då han träffade Victoria, vampyrprinssesan. Hon, hans nya bästa vän Mary Ann och hennes varulvs- pojkvän Riley gjorde Aden lyckligare än han någonsin kunnat föreställa sig att en person kunde vara.
Men Lyckan varade inte länge
Bara efter ett par veckor blev dom förbannade av en häxa, och om Aden inte lyckas komma på häxornas hemliga möte är alla hans vänner döda. Som om det inte vore nog är han nu vampyrkungen, rådet tvingar honom att dejta en rad vampyrtjejer och Victoria blir helt galen av svartsjuka.
Och det räcker inte där. Mary Ann, hans bästa vän, har kommit på att hon är en slukare.
Slukare= hatad av alla och kommer att bli mördad så fort nyheten kommer ut.
Den enda som vet något är Riley, som bestämmer att hon får lära sig självförsvar- mot hans egen ras.
Men vad kommer att hända den dagen då Victorias verkliga monster kommer ut? När den magiska världen får veta vem den verkliga slukaren är? Och kommer gänget att ens överleva den förbannelsen som kommer att träda kraft inom två dagar? Läs och ta reda på det....

Unraveled is a a good follow up to the series "Intertwined" it follows Aden through his struggles along with friends Victoria (vampire), Riley (Werewolf), Maryann (Neutralizer although later on something additional), and of course the remaining 3spirits one that can raise the dead, one that can pocess bodies, and one can see the future who had predicted Aden's death. The books first chapter is pretty slow but after you complete that the pace is non stop. Although this book was not one I can say I couldn't put down it still kept my interest. The book focuses a lot on Mary Ann this time around and of course Aden's impending death. In this book all his friends find out with exception of his roomate Shannon (who is one of my favorite characters). Aden though struggles debating if he should share this especially because Shannon has a secret of his own. Be prepared for a shocking cliffhanger at the end dwhich leaves you craving more. All in all 4 stars (although if able to uses half's would probably rate 3 1/2). Looking forward to the next.

This is the continuation of Aden's story, which began in Intertwined. He's not the only one with new troubles and big secrets. Unfortunately, not all of the changes will bring happiness to those involved. Sometimes you can't catch a break...
Aden's a uncrowned vampire king with a vision of his own death, Victoria's being challenged for Aden, Riley and Mary Ann are fighting within themselves and with each other. The vampires, witches, and fairies are slavering for Aden's blood. Now he needs all the help he can get to prevent a war. Will he be able to do enough and will it be in time to save his friends?
I did enjoy the story and the writing was excellent. Ms. Showalter is a wonderful writer and I appreciated the detail and intricacies of the plot lines very much. I'm not sure how many books will be in this series, but I do look forward to the next installment, since I'm now hooked on the story. I think, perhaps, that this book creates a whole lot more questions than it answers. Enticing, yet frustrating!

Hmmmmmm so good! This series is amazing! It really is hard to put them. Aden has so much to go through in this book. He gets hypnotized by a fairy, poisoned by goblins, bitten by vampires, kidnapped by witches, and Elijah's prediction in the first book came through! Within the last 5 pages of the book too! Talk about a cliffhanger!
You find out what Mary-Ann is in this book too, which won't bode well in the third book I'm sure. Ah Mary-Ann & Riley, I'm rooting for ya'll!

Aslında bu kitabı okumaya aylar önce başlamama rağmen anca bitirdim. Sınav döneminde başladığım kitap derslerle birlikte güme gitmişti, ardından araya bir sürü kitap girdi ve ben bu kitabı okumayı sürekli kendime hatırlatıp durdum. En sonunda, birkaç gün önce kitaba tekrara başladım ve hâlâ okuduğum sonun etkisindeyim.
Kitabın kapağını kapattığımda "Ne'ttin sen Gena?" diye sordum kendi kendime.
Birinci kitabı okurken çok etkilenmiştim Aden ve Ruhların arasındaki bağdan ve ruhların gideceği düşüncesi beni çok üzmüştü. Eva'nın ardından Caleb'in de gideceğini düşünürken ki kendisi benim favorim olur, bu yaşanalar...
Sevinsem mi üzülsem mi bilemiyorum.

Oh, man, such a freaking great book, Mary Ann, Aden, Victoria, and Riley grow in this book, and we actually get to met Riley's brothers! I want more!!!! I'm still despairing of the fact that #4 won't come out till 2015 ;(

Wow... this book has a LOT going on. Almost too much, but somehow the author does a really good job of keeping the flow and and not losing the reader. If you are into the supernatural then this book has it all; wolves, vampires, drainers, muters, souls stuck in someone elses head, goblins, fairys, witches, beast like dragons held captive inside the vampires... you get the point. The entire book follows two love stories and both of them get an A+ from me. I appreciate that there are no triangles and the couples stay true to wanting the best for eachother even if it means putting their own lives in danger.
