Taking Chances
A gung ho PR person in charge of getting a reclusive country western singer to perform live at a small function is responsible for him possibly losing his ranch for children. Tyler Davidson would rather deal with a large concert hall audience than come face to face with a few people. Such thoughts are beyond Abie Halloway’s thinking, but as she learns to understand what the ranch means to Tyler and comes to care for him in this sweet romance / inspirational, she realizes she does not want to be the one to cause his downfall.

Taking Chances is by Tara Manderino. This is a really good romance. She develops her main characters well and the setting is vivid. The plot is a little weak in spots but makes up for it later.
Abie Holloway works for Mitchell’s Promotions which is one of the top five corporate event planning agencies. Abie is in the running for vice –president and is a gung ho PR person. She doesn’t take no for an answer. She is given the task of getting singer Tyler Davidson to perform live for a small audience for the Centennial Committee. She is egged on by her assistant Natalie who doesn’t know anything about country music. Abie sets out to talk to Tyler’s manager but can’t get a return call from either man. She goes to Paul’s office and waits until he sees her. He tells her that Tyler will not take a job singing for a small audience. Abie is beginning to get a picture of Tyler who will only take large concert jobs which pay a lot of money. She finds out he has a ranch nearby and heads out there to confront him. Little does she know what she is about to get into.
Tyler Davidson runs a ranch for emotionally and physically abused children. He takes a group every two weeks and tries to teach them they are important and to not give up. He teaches them about God being there for them as well. He keeps this side of him private and thinks it is no one’s business but his. However, his concerts pay the bills. He intends to expand to other areas of the country as there are many kids who need help, just like he did. He really understands them because he was there. He can’t get across to Abie that he will not do the small performance. He fails to tell her that he is afraid of small audiences and they send him back to his childhood and his mother making him play and sing for money. He meets Abie and just as they seem to be becoming friends, she makes him mad and he signs the contract in anger. He took her word that it was a boilerplate contract.
Neither Tyler nor Abie knew that the contract he signed had an addition put in it that Abie was not aware of. If Tyler fails to show up for his performance for the Centennial Committee, he forfeits his ranch. Who put the addition into the contract and why? Will Tyler show up for the performance?

I relished the idea of reading this book. Not only do I enjoy country music and ranch living, (both ingredients of the story) but brooding heroes with secrets are a must. Taking Chances was a weekend read for me. I started reading on Saturday and finished it off on a lazy Sunday morning. It was an enjoyable way to spend my time and was exactly what I was looking for. If you’re looking for a sweet and gentle, Inspirational story, then you’ll enjoy this book also.
Abie and Tyler’s story is tender and touching; set against the backdrop of a ranch for disadvantaged children and the cut throat world of business. Tyler is a man with secrets and will do anything to keep them. But Abie’s strong and determined personality is just the thing to make him let go of his past and open his heart to new possibilities.
There are no real surprises with this book, but it is sensitively written and a pleasurable read.

Taking Chances is a sweet, tender romance that makes you feel good. Things are not always as they appear. Abie is quick to assume things and it was refreshing to watch how things came about. I found the dynamics between Tyler and Abie. The flow of the story was flawless and I liked how Tyler and Abie grew as individuals and as a couple. Tyler had skeletons in his closet and Abie has her own issues to work on. I did feel that Abie needed to open up a little more about her childhood with Tyler. I would like to see a story about Josh and I would like to see what happens to Ted. Then we could also catch up with Tyler and Abie! Just an idea Ms. Manderino. If you have not read this story you are missing out. I will be reading this one again and would recommend it. No swearing, but does have some kissing!

Up for a challenge, Abie Holloway takes on the assignment to lure tall, sexy Tyler toward accepting a contract to sing for The Centenniel Committee at their annual fundraising event. Abie is next in line at Mitchell's Promotions for a vice presidency if she can pull the proverbial cat out of the hat. Tyler never performs for an intimate audience but cash is needed to keep his ranch operating as the retreat center for troubled teens that it has become. Abie is all business but her attraction for Tyler messes with her head and keeps her off track. Great read and hard to put down.

Sweet read
This is my first Tara M book and I found it very enjoyable. Our hero, Ty, is a handsome, quiet, strong man of faith. He is also a masculine cowboy country western singer who loves troubled children. Abie is our spirited heroine who tries to get Ty to sign a contract for her own personal gain. What follows is two people finding love and stronger faith. I do wish we could have had an epilogue, as I felt the ending was a bit rushed. I am a big fan of Christian fiction, and would read other titles by this author. Recommended.

This was a very sweet contemporary romance. Abie, the PR woman has her job on the line. She is striving to make it in the tough, dog-eat-dog world. Being a woman is not an advantage in this boy's club. She has to deliver Tyler, a country singing star, who has no intention of performing in her venue. His goal is to keep his ranch for kids in need open and his therapy horses available to heal more small lives. It's a poignant story well told.

This story is a sweet faith filled romance. Tyler is happy making money singing in order to keep his ranch for children. His reason for singing. Then, Abie shows up and wants to change his way of life and turns his world upside down. Abie causes Tyler problems and leaves us wondering if their love can overcome her meddling. I highly recommend this book and looking forward to more from this author.

Taking Chances by Tara Manderino is a good read. Tyler and Abie's story is well written. The characters are lovable and the book is loaded with drama and a heat level of 0, safe for any age reader. Taking Chances is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

I liked it.

Characters were well written. Story was mediocre, but stayed true to plot. A little too 'goody goody' for me, but still - a good enough read to keep me going to the end.
