Wetiko: The Greatest Epidemic Sickness Known to Humanity

Rate this book
In The Greatest Epidemic Sickness Known to Humanity, Paul Levy explores the Native American idea of a psycho-spiritual disease of the soul that has been plaguing humanity for several thousand years. Originating in the human psyche, wetiko psychosis is currently manifesting as a world-wide psychic epidemic, as it ravages our civilization and destroys the biosphere, the very life support of our species. Encoded in this malevolent parasite of the mind, however, is a revelation which can potentially wake us up.

It can be a life-changing book. This isn't an academic book and shouldn't be judged his way. I know he doesn't do a great job at exploring the history and origin of the term wetiko, and how it applies to everything we'd consider evil (eg. the term could be replaced with "evil" and pretty much leave the underlying message in tact), but this book does open big doors in your mind.

This book is profound, and I would recommend it to pretty much anybody. Its contents could be organized a little better. An insightful identification and analysis of a significant human problem. I was left wanting a little more in terms of what to do about it.
