iPhone Fully Loaded is a one-of-a-kind reference that teaches you how to fully exploit the power of your Phone or iPod touch. Clear step-by-step instructions teach you how to convert any form of home, office, or online media -- dusty LPs, movies on DVD, spreadsheets, databases, presentations, downloadable books, comic books, as well as music and video to an iPhone or iPod Touch compatible format. Written by wildly popular technology expert and Chicago Sun Times columnist Andy Ihnatko, iPhone Fully Loaded is a full-color guide designed to work for both Mac OS X and Windows users. From uploading Web pages to downloading television shows and a variety of documents, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents, the iPhone does much more than make phone calls, play music, and send e-mail.
Andy Ihnatko is a technology journalist for the Chicago Sun-Times, and a tech author. He currently resides in Massachusetts. He appears on Leo Laporte's podcasts, specifically MacBreak Weekly and TWiT. He's also a regular on the MacNotables podcast, hosted by Chuck Joiner, where he often is paired with fellow technology journalist Adam Engst.
Although it is not as in depth as some may like, I found it to be the best instruction guide so far ( and I read a lot of these types of guides) on using your iPhone or iPod touch device ... I like his snarky tone ... He left the material I wanted most ( using it as an online PDA ) til the end, but true to his form, he'd recommend free apps and paid apps that could help you maximizing your device.
If you want to learn how to use the iPhones telephone features - don't by this book. HOWEVER, if you are interested in getting the best use of its iPod features or how best to leverage its interenet access to make use of its limited storage capacity - then you've got a gold mine here. Authors has a amusingly bizarre sense of humor - so the dry technical subject material is quite standable, if not outright enjoyable.
Andy Ihnatko's witty writing style makes even the most mundane topics interesting. This book was not a basic "How to" for the iPhone, but rather looked at less obvious ways of making the iPhone a more powerful and wide-ranging tool. Well worth the price and the time if you are an iPhone user!
Ihnatko's casual and humorous writing makes this a pleasure to read. Also makes a great gift for those Luddite friends and family that rely on you for tech support.
Wonderfully illustrated. So many insights. Ihanto has poked into every nook of the App Store and every feature of the iPhone. If you have the world's coolest phone, you benefit a lot from this read.
