• Was Adam the first test-tube baby? • Did nuclear fission destroy Sodom and Gomorrah? • How were the ancients able to accurately describe details about our solar system that are only now being revealed by deep space probes? The awesome answers are all here, in this important companion volume to The Earth Chronicles series. Having presented evidence of an additional planet as well as voluminous information about the other planets in our solar system, Zecharia Sitchin now shows how the discoveries of modern astrophysics, astronomy, and genetics exactly parallel what has already been revealed in ancient texts regarding the "mysteries" of alchemy and the creation of life. Genesis Revisited is a mind-boggling revelation sure to overturn current theories about the origins of humankind and the solar system.
Sitchin was born in Baku, Azerbaijan, and was raised in Palestine. He acquired knowledge of modern and ancient Hebrew, other Semitic and European languages, the Torah, and the history and archeology of the Near East. He was one of the few scholars able to read and interpret ancient Sumerian and Akkadian clay tablets.
Sitchin graduated from the London School of Economics, University of London, majoring in economic history.
A journalist and editor in Israel for many years. His books have been widely translated, converted to braille for the blind, and featured on radio and television.
I don't believe in "Guilty Pleasures" but if I did the tv show Ancient Aliens would be #1 on my "Guilty Pleasures" list. If you've never heard of the show its basically about how everything from The Bible to the great pyramids were inspired by or built by Aliens. Its a ridiculous show but I love it anyway...or maybe I love it because its ridiculous.
Genesis Revisited is part of a book series The Earth Chronicles by Zecharia Sitchin, Sitchin is one the leading voices in the Ancient Aliens community. According to him millions of years ago Aliens known as Anunnaki came Earth from either Mars or a still undiscovered 10th planet in our solar system created us and gave us all of our knowledge. I don't personally believe any of this but its an interesting theory..so why not.
I much prefer watching the show to read this book, he throws a lot of science and math at you, that unless you're a scientist or mathematician you won't understand. He also talks about his books and all the tv shows he's appeared in A LOT...I mean A LOT ALOT! If I heard Sitchin talk about how important & smart he is for one more page I was gonna lose it.

A great philosopher once said an intelligent person can entertain an idea without accepting it. That is where I stand with this work by Sitchin. He believes that an alien race created human beings on earth and we can find hints to this in the ancient religious texts like the Bible. The author is no dummy, for sure. He knows how to make his position sound plausible. I was riveted, but not convinced. If his view happened to be true, it would answer a great many mysteries that traditional Christianity has failed to address. Overall, it is a well written book (read 6/6/2012).
Inspiration fuel. Also, nightmare fuel, if you let it get to you. If you've read or seen anything along the lines of The Fourth Kind, especially. You know, anywhere where people are getting messages from "aliens" or "spirits" that speak Sumerian.
Because that's what this is. Sitchin fully believes that if you read the Sumerian tablets in their full glory and context, they tell you about Planet X, how it comes into the solar system every however-many millennia and how its inhabitants made us by combining what was here with their own DNA.
And, for the most part, he makes a good case for it. But step back, and realize there are at least a couple of other possible explanations for the things he's using as evidence. And still, he keeps piling them on and no matter what it's all interesting as hell.
Thing is, I tend to read stuff like this like creation myth. Like a fiction writer's creation myth behind their fiction. And, taken from that angle, it always strikes me positively fascinating. I read The 12th Planet, like, fifteen years ago and remember thinking, basically, "Cool story, bro." This wasn't much different.
But I know more now, and was able to punch holes in a lot more in this book than I remember being able to punch holes in that one. I enjoyed it anyway. It gave me quite a few more things to look up. And you know what? I kinda do think he's right about how the solar system got to be how it is now (with the asteroid belt, the differential in the thickness of Earth's crust, and our disproportionately large moon). Even if he's not, it's my favorite theory of it so far. Having that to think about was worth the whole book for me; it even made up for his crazy talk about Mars structures there at the end.
Don't get me wrong, I love a good story about there being "obviously" artificial structures on Mars. But be cool about it, man. Don't get all crazy on me, mixing up your own facts and telling me how parallel ridges that have gargantuan dimensions are signs of cultivated land—just because, from outer space, gargantuan ridges look like rows in a field.
Still, he definitely got me thinking throughout. And, contrary to some evidence, I do enjoy thinking.
Very interesting book. I don't know what I think about what the author has presented, but it's a fascinating alternative to what the general understanding of how the earth became what it is and how people came to be.
Genesis Revisited, like The 12th Planet, has an impressive array of scholarship on display. Sitchin is a Russian who moved to Palestine after living in Israel. He currently works and lives in NY, NY. He can read, write, and speak Sumerian. He can read Sanskrit, Greek, Latin, and Hebrew. In other words, he and I have taken similar paths in life. (lol)He is a distinguished scholar of all things Near East and, obviously, the history of humanity in antiquity. I enjoy the Ancient Astronaut theory, however, I would classify most of the content as a guilty pleasure. Zecharia Sitchin makes some extremely bold and ou0tlandish assertions regarding the origin of our evolution. I respect Sitchin's indefatigable research and concrete data collection and analysis to back up his claims. This book is not for everyone. If you like watching Ancient Aliens on television or have read "Chariots of the Gods", and want to go MUCH deeper; and admittedly that would not be difficult, then Genesis Revealed will be a deeply satisfying alternative historical speculation. Why not five stars, because as good as the scholarship is Sitchin is not always the most compelling wordsmith.
How advanced in thought and science were the ancients? And is modern science catching up on what they knew? These questions are the basis of Zecharia Sitchin’s Genesis Revisited in which he looks back at the scientific developments since publishing of his book The 12th Planet (up until 1990) to show that his finds in that and subsequent books are being proven.
Organized in a well throughout manner, Sitchin begins each topical chapter—save the final two—looking at the scientific consensus and findings that have been advanced since the 1976 publication of his first book. Then after laying the foundation going back to the Sumerian texts that he first wrote about to show that modern science is now replicating the knowledge of the earliest civilizations that was brought to them by the Anunnaki of Nibiru. The last two chapters were focused on more “recent” developments, particularly the Phobos 2 incident and the sudden cooperation between the United States and the USSR in space particularly in regards to Mars.
Obviously the biggest flaw of this book is that it was published in the fall of 1990 meaning that there has been almost 30 years of advancement of scientific knowledge that has made some of this science discussed in the book outdated. Yet I have to give Sitchin credit for keeping things simple when explaining his theories by only hitting the high points and then referencing the reader to his earlier books for a more in-depth look. This allowed Sitchin to focus on the modern science more in each chapter as a way to compare it to his theories of Sumerian knowledge. Although the last two chapters contain some speculation of (then) current events they don’t diminish from Sitchin the achievement of staying focused so as to bring new readers to his books.
Essentially Genesis Revisited is a book that allowed Zecharia Sitchin to reach new readers who had not heard of his previous books as well show is long time readers new evidence that confirmed what he had been writing about. Although the book’s science is now dated, for those interested in ancient astronauts it’s something they might want to check out.
this book is the most compelling read that could also be considered to be written by a quack. Stichin claims that humans are a hybrid species developed by an alien life form thousands of years ago. Build originally as slaves to work gold mines in Africa, we were eventually left on our own. He describes a planetary collision with a planet of our solar system that has a 3000 year solar orbit that created earth and the asteroid belt. There is much, much more where that comes from. But again, it's strangely compelling and is fun to contemplate and talk about while being total conjecture at the same time.
"Genesis Revisited" by Zecharia Sitchin is an enthralling and insightful book that delves into the ancient mysteries of human origins, offering a revolutionary perspective on the stories and texts of the early chapters of Genesis. Sitchin, with his meticulous research into ancient Sumerian texts and his expertise in Middle Eastern languages, presents a compelling argument that the biblical stories we have come to know may actually be historical accounts of extraterrestrial visitation and intervention in human history.
This book stands out for its daring hypotheses and the depth of its investigation. Sitchin intricately analyzes ancient scriptures, artifacts, and myths, suggesting that gods described in ancient texts might be aliens who played a significant role in the creation and development of human civilization. His interpretations provide fascinating insights into the mysteries of our past, bridging the gap between science and religion and offering a new lens through which to view history.
"Genesis Revisited" is written with a clarity that makes complex subjects accessible to a broader audience, ensuring that readers, regardless of their background, can grasp its profound implications. The narrative is engaging, drawing readers into a world where ancient legends and modern science converge, and challenging them to question long-held beliefs about humanity's origins.
Beyond its bold theories, the book is a testament to human curiosity and the relentless pursuit of knowledge. Sitchin's work encourages readers to explore the unknown and reconsider the possibilities of our ancient past. Whether one agrees with his conclusions or not, "Genesis Revisited" is undoubtedly a thought-provoking journey that stimulates debate and reflection on the origins and destiny of mankind.
For those with an interest in ancient history, archaeology, theology, or the potential for extraterrestrial life, "Genesis Revisited" is a fascinating and compelling read. It stands as a monumental work in the exploration of ancient civilizations, offering a narrative that is as enlightening as it is captivating.
It would be nice if there was an updated version of this book that I could read that outlines what more has been learned since 1990. Overall, the book had a lot of very interesting ideas, I just felt that it dragged on at times during the scientific descriptions of past missions. I think that is just a matter of taste though. I really enjoyed how he would cite Genesis at times to describe what it meant in his new formulation. Probably the most impactful for me was "let US make mankind in OUR image". I had never questioned why it was written as such. My guess is that some people may simply think that "us" means the Holy Trinity, though I am not convinced of that. I also learned a lot of scientific theories that I had never heard of. Bode's law and Nemesis theory for example. His theory of Genesis was probably the most interesting part of the book. The double-meaning of "clay" that he described was somewhat convincing. There are certainly times when he makes mental leaps to a conclusion, but at least most of his claims have some evidence to back it up. The parallels between the seemingly artificial structures on Mars (as well as their locations) and similar ancient ruins in Peru was fascinating. This was the first Sitchin book I have read, I plan to get the Earth Chronicles set and read through them, he certainly cites "The 12th Planet" many times in this book.
Zecharia Sitchin claims in Genesis Revisited that human being's were bioengineered by extra terrestrials for use in the mining of precious metals. The author proves himself a capable researcher and linguist throughout the book, as he interprets Sumerian, Babylonian, and Hebrew myths surrounding the creation of man. Sitchin asserts that the stories of Genesis in the bible were rewritten from the earlier Babylonian stories, which were themselves rewritten from the originals in Sumer. According to Sitchin, the names for these alien masters in Sumerian were the "Annunaki," who had vastly superior technology which they used to instruct the fledgling human race on science, astronomy, law and everything else that became the cornerstone for human societies down to the present day. The Annunaki reside on a planet called Nibiru which only comes into orbit in our galaxy every 3600 years. It sounds crazy but Sitchin does a good job supporting his arguments.
aIf you have an open mind there will be much to think about.
I'm a person who comes from a strong religious background But ,as I got older I opened my mind and listened and read more then I talked. This book has shown me that there is plenty of scientific evidence to consider regarding how and why we are here. Much of the book compares the events recorded in the bible with what was written prior in the ancient Sumerian writings. Being one who knows and has studied the bible in depth was amazed at what the Sumerian's had written on clay tablets before. Many things I believed to be true from a spiritual point of view have made more sense from knowing what was really happening. I 'm not ready to say I'm all in with this , but I will say I have much more to think about and watch. This is a very interesting book of knowledge if you open up your mind.
This was the first book of the series that I read, and I very much enjoyed it. It, as some of the others, now have tons of stickers and highlighting in them. I found it most interesting, as it addressed many issues I had in understanding how, not only the history of mankind really took place, as well as some of the more believable stories from Scripture, which are far more believable when looking at them through the lens of logic and reason, as opposed to what we have been indoctrinated with by The Establishment, and those who refuse to look outside the box for answer to questions that don't fit into what is taught in school. I'm not saying I agree a hundred percent with everything Sitchin says, but it certainly is food for thought, and I'm sure it is a far more accurate explanation than the gobbledegook we learned growing up.
If I could give this book A MILLION STARS I would ;-)
If you are interested in the true origin of man, you MUST read this book.
The title, Genesis Revisited, is a reference to the Book of Genesis - the first book in the Holy Bible which purports to explain the beginning of life on Earth as we know it.
You don't have to be a scholar to understand that the Bible is a fictitious volume of made up, doctored fairy tales to support a corrupt hierarchy. This book provides solid evidence to back that up ;-)
Ever hear the term "modern technology?" Maybe it isn't as modern as you think ;-)
Genesis Revisited was a let down but perhaps not in the way that may be assumed. I enjoy the late Zecharia Sitchin’s work and his translations of the ancient Sumerian creation texts yet Genesis Revisited just felt like an updated version of The 12th Planet with some things missing and some “new” evidence put in its place.
To keep it short and sweet it’s an “I told you so” to mainstream science but knowing there wouldn’t be a response from the people in ivory towers. Don’t get me wrong there is some interesting tidbits but not enough to basically rewrite The 12th Planet and give it a new title.
I nice story, about some extraterrestrials that they came on earth, to mine gold, too fix their ozon layer to save their home planet. They where so advance tehnologicaly, but they where to lazy to do the job and they came with they ideea to create a primitiv worker. They mix treir DNA with a homo sapien that they found here on this planet ( earth ) and "we" are the result of that internevention. Nibiru their home planet (the 10th planet of solar sistem ), spins around the Sun each 3600 earth years. They visited our planet for a very long time.

Enjoyed and gained an understanding of the direct connection of Sumerian history to what is occurring now in our exploration of space. It would seem irrational to ignore the parallels and not see the connection. Feel privileged to have read what seems to be a very factual and believable explanation for our past & present day situation
There is a lot of recycling in this work, but at least there is a comparison with the Apollo missions and with the UFO phenomena, compared with the other writers of the AAT he writes well about the subject. The book does have some interest but too much of the material the author had written before.
Sitchin's books reveal a lifetime's study and they are life-changing. Genesis Revisited is an auxiliary book to the Earth Chronicles series and fits well in any order. Personally I read between books 4 and 5. I can't express how incredible these books are. If you view history as a jigsaw puzzle, the Earth Chronicles series is the manual for putting it together.
This book connects all of the Earth Chronicle books with discoveries that modern science is just learning that the ancient Sumerians knew thousands of years ago.
Absolutely love Sitchin! He has uncovered secrets that have been lost to time and hidden by man. Spot on in his theories and presented in a scholarly format. R.I.P. Sitchin, you are correct sir! May we all strive to pick up your torch and carry on the work you have begun to uncover.
Interesting. Skimmed it really and bypassed technical jargon. Images grainy and unclear. Woud be worth a second closer read with note taking and research.
