Janet Evanovich is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Stephanie Plum series, the Lizzy and Diesel series, twelve romance novels, the Alexandra Barnaby novels and Trouble Maker graphic novel, and How I Write: Secrets of a Bestselling Author, as well as the Fox and O'Hare series with co-author Lee Goldberg.
You get to follow the main character Stephanie who is a lady down on her luck. She ends up taking a job at her cousin Vinnie’s bail bond company after losing her job as a lingerie sales representative. Stephanie embarks on an amazing journey of trying to catch fugitives who skip out on their bond. The series is literally packed full of everything from criminals, mysteries, love, family, and cars blowing up on a consistent basis!
The main character is one of the most laughable and easiest characters to relate with that I have ever seen. I just love how real she is and how her brain works. She is always getting herself in trouble or having to chase down her young at heart eccentric grandmother. The story-line of each book is always unique and fresh which easily keeps you entertained throughout the entire series. What I love most about this series besides the delightful characters you fall in love with is how many books are in the series.
If you want a long journey and a series to cozy up with for a long period of time this is the one for you! There are currently twenty-four books in total I believe. There also are in-between books that have their own bizarre twist and crazy storylines. These are not as long as the series books tend to be and always have some sort of supernatural twist to them; however, they are very delightful to read!
I'm a Jersey girl and can easily relate to Stephanie Plum. We take it as it comes and act on it accordingly... usually in the most unorthodox manner! Some how, we land on our feet and just keep on going. Ah, resilience!!! We don't always know how to do a job, but that doesn't mean we won't try it. Wit, savvy, determination and just go for it with all you have. As Stephanie would say, "Maybe the day hadn't gone exactly right, but the day had been lived and the house had been there for its family."--Two for the Dough
I keep reading these books prying the people will evolve ... Or Stephanie will actually chose ranger or joe ... Or even someone new.... It never happens .... Still better than watching tv. BTW how long do hamsters actually live anyway ?
I absolutely adore these books. They're fast paced, with interesting plot lines, and are hilarious. Add that with a spunky female lead who blackmails her cousin Vinny into giving her a job as a bounty hunter and the super sexy badass Ranger, also a bounty hunter (who I will always prefer over Morelli) how could you say no?
Great books. Enjoyed them so far, but I do find that the story gets old after a while and not a great deal happens in the way of "story changers." Well written characters though, and it's a fun, light read.
So far the crazy, zany, world of Stephanie Plum has hooked me in. The books are Really zany and the characters, unforgettable. Will these books be around in 200 years, literately educating the youth of America...probably not, but they sure are fun
I loved the first 6 of these, but am not happy spending. 9$ on 180 pages of book 15. Especially when many of the pages are redundant. Still I keep buying them for my easy reads.
Stephanie is my favourite and Number one book best friend of all time! The first book I read was "Eleven on Top" and I fell so completely in love with Stephanie that I had to read all books in the series including the summer novels (Oh I love Diesel) I will start with the love triangle(if we can call it that) when I read Eleven on Top, I was totally rooting for Ranger even though Stephanie was dating Morelli in the book(stephanie's style of dating) but seriously?! What's not to love about Ranger?!(He's still way up in the list of my book boyfriends). Here's the thing with Morelli, I really like him, just not with Stephanie. But it got to a point in the series where I just got tired of it all, Stephanie could date Randy Briggs for all I care. I just needed Character Growth! Stephanie's a walking disorderly! Yes we got the point in about the first ten books, but come on Janet! She can be so much more! I really don't know why the characters can't evolve and we still get a bomb ass Stephanie novel with explosions and Lula being....Well... Lula! I'm in love and obsessed with the series but pissed off and disappointed at what Janet Evanovich has reduced it to(I don't believe she still writes it). Please Janet! Help us out here. PS: I don't buy the whole *Ranger can't be with Stephanie cos he doesn't want something serious Baloney * PPS: Twelve Sharp could have been the turning point for the whole series. But No! Janet Evanovich chose to go in the part of regression? Stagnancy? I can't decide!
I immediately fell for Stephanie Plum ... how can you not! She is a train wreck with plenty of mascara, and a fantastic family! Can't wait for more adventures!
BTW ... I am TOTALLY Team Ranger! Also Lula is AMAZING ... we all need a Lula in our lives! I have decided I want to be adopted by the Plums so I can have a Grama Mazur!
I have read the first 22 as well as the In-Between the Plums stories and I am so ready for the next several!
OK...I loved the first few of books in this series. Exciting/hilarious life of a female bounty hunter from Jersey. Pretty original, considering the series came out long before the whole "Jersey" thing became popular. All the main characters in the book were a complete riot. Obviously, very light, fun reading. However, after the the 5-6th book ..everything started to sound the same and the storylines became entirely too perdictable. I didn't bother to finish the series because I felt like I kept reading the same story over and over.
This series is so much fun. Reading them is like watching a mindless, but good TV show. They should make it a TV show. Anyway, they get old and boring after awhile since there are so many, but if you read other stuff in between and go back, it's like visiting old friends. The characters are always going to put a smile on your face. They're hilarious. :)
I absolutely love all the books in this series for light reading. Not real literature by far, but for pure entertainment purposes, this series is a winner. Now, if I could just meet Lula in person! How fun would that be?
Fantastic chic lit - it's like candy. I love the mad cap situations, the crazy characters - and some how the formula never gets old. Between Grandma Mazur, Stephanie totalling a car a book and Lula's on going challenge to squeeze into tiny clothes there is always something that makes me chuckle.
