Leatherwork is a centuries-old craft which is as absorbing and enjoyable today as ever. This book introduces the basic tools and techniques needed before explaining more advanced ideas for designing and decorating leather. With an easy-to-follow text, step-by-step photogrpahs and explanatory line drawings, this practical book describes how to use those techniques to make handmade items with a professional finish.
Despite this book being published in 2009, I thought it was from the 1970s. There is a great deal of information here but the book is so poorly designed that it is a trial to read. It would have been much improved if there were photos that accompanied the techniques that were written about. In the very beginning of the book, basic tools are described but not identified in a photo! Simple graphics would have easily explained stitching instructions. Vocabulary is used that is not defined, many photographs are poorly shot, and of the few projects presented most are irrelevant (coin pouch?, belt pouch?, drinks coaster?).
