A young girl reads a book about purple creatures called Snerds, and a few minutes later, a real Snerd pops out of the book and becomes her friend. That's pretty much it, but it is written as a fun book about creatures and colors, and it has 3-6 year olds in mind. Part of a book series developed for classrooms, it encourages kids to come up with stories on their own about Friendly Creatures, different colors, and combining both for a fun story. In real life I may have wanted to get to know a certain "colorful character" in Lincoln Green tights from Sherwood Forest on a personal level, but that's just me. Three stars Snerds are purply cool!!!
Just attended and presented at a children's literature festival. !st grade teachers love this book! Around February each year, in their curriculum, they work on words with -ar,-er, -ir, or-, ur, etc. So Purple Snerd is a great resource for them. The kids then create their own purple snerds with collage material, so cute and fun!
