Oh dear, where to begin? If you want to avoid cliche, avoid this book. It is full of it right from the start. It is also extremely predictable with the complete waste of any opportunity for conflict. Conflict existed, but it was never properly explored to its full dramatic effect, very limp.I felt as if this book never got going and the medical issue with the brother was thrown in because the author thought, "gee, I'd best put something in here to try and bring whatever it is I am writing to a head." Resolution was way too swift, again with lack of exploration. Not sure why it was called Beyond All Reason. there did not seem to be enough real conflict or issues between the two main characters to warrant it. In fact I think there is more dramatic effect in the sibling/family dramas in 30 seconds of that German soap Verbotene Liebe than there is in this novel. Perhaps with a better writing style the issues in the book could have had a better chance of coming alive off the page. As it stands, the novel is pale and dead.
Im only at 8% but will try to plough further. From what i've seen so far im not expecting much.
Unother interesting potentialy good book botched. But this time from the start.
Lets sum up my impression so far...
* writing style... Not according to my taste * too much insecurity, second guessing and annoying trope (recycling of the same issues) * sex...not as hot as it sounds...im not feeling it.
Maybe the story started at the wrong time? Or it was presented in a wrong manner? Which made it less interesting. Or the progression of events were strategically ordered the wrong way. Which was incapable of keeping the reader engaged...
***** might write more later ******
Because im still curious ...its a curse i have to live with. To either keep being curious or to endure a possible dry or potential 2-2.5 star read just to sate my curiosity.
This is another great lesbian romance novel. It is about a woman named Trina. Because of a homophobic family and even though she has gone through therapy, she has extreme difficulty trusting anyone. So when she meets her brother's fiancee, Rosalie, shes determined to stay away from her. But Rosalie is determined to be friends with Trina. But as she gain Trina's trust she can't help the feelings that shes is gaining for Trina.
The story of two lesbians who fall in love and must deal with the thick, dense and coarse behavior and attitudes of their family. It doesn't help that one is the former fiance of the brother of the other. Doh! Describes the trials and triumphs they experienced. This is not erotica. Far from salacious but an excellent read.
