Living Undivided: Loving Courageously for Racial Healing and Justice

Rate this book
As the church and as a country, we've often neglected and avoided addressing the impact and ongoing reality of racism. We've been more focused on order than justice, more concerned with social media posturing than solidarity, more committed to judgment than repentance. But God's people are called to more. We need to lead the way to true racial healing, solidarity, and justice.

Through enlightening history and eye-opening personal stories, Living Undivided will equip and empower you with the biblical, transformative tools you need to move from just hoping and wishing for racial justice to actionable change that makes a difference in your life and the lives of churches, neighborhoods, and cities.

A book to bring about unity. Through historical events, stories, and personal sharing this book is to open our eyes to injustice and to promote justice. Bible verses particularly the book of Nehemiah is paralleling the cause of how an act of injustice can spark a change and with following the directions of the Lord can make a difference in so many lives. Do not give up hope in the oppression that is placed on so many historically to keep people feeling powerlessness. Now act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with God ( Micah 6:8)

This book invites the reader to consider their own history and experience of race and then helps the reader put that experience into the context of our nation's larger story. I appreciated how the authors shared their own stories. What I valued most was the emphasis on building relationships as a way of bringing racial reconciliation to our country. The book gives important historical context to the complexity of today's challenging reality. Through it all, there is a thread of hope and faith that encourages and empowers the reader to engage in conversations for racial healing.

This book speaks volumes into the racial indifference in our country. Chuck Mingo and Troy Jackson approach this subject head-on, shining a light on how systematic racism is in the United States. They don't stop there. They give a path for change by giving scripture backed steps to live undivided. Undivided not only in our safe homes, but in our workplaces, schools, and, more importantly, our churches. This book has the possibility to start a ripple effect that will be visible in all who live out its guidance.
