This is obviously an old book. Both it's language and it's information was certainly from the late 19th century. There was very little critical analysis of Jefferson and much hero worship. While the information in the book was very informative, and shed light on many events in Jefferson's life and presidency, it lacked true evaluation of Jefferson's policies and practices.

This is a solid book with good research and scholarship for the time in which it was written. The author works to avoid biases, but they still come through when compared with today, but this will always be the case as we evolve as a society and as the work of historians change.
This is a nice overview of Jefferson's life.
