We know of all the great feats of the sport. Now the authors came up with the most dubious ones that range from inept performances on the field to cheating, poor management and bad trades, and downright criminal activity. Positioning of infields to abet one’s run for the batting title, intentionally walking a batter to deny him the same, Babe Ruth’s sexual prowess and appetite for junk food. .

This is a funny and well-organized book. It was penned in the 1980s when steroids were allowed in pro baseball, and, therefore, congressional investigations of chemical use were not discussed. I enjoyed this one. Warning: Do not try to read in one sitting, as it is easy to be lulled. Take a little at a time.

Bruce Nash and Allan Zullo have created an absolutely hilarious compendium of the dumbest aspects of Baseball, everything from dumb trades to dumb players to dumb plays, this book has it all. Read about the pitcher with an ERA of 108.00 or the one that gave up 16 walks in 9 innings. This book will have you laughing from the moment you pick it up. This book and the three following are a must have for any baseball trivia fan.

Being a life-long Cardinals fan, I enjoy not only watching quality baseball, but also reading entertaining baseball books. This book is well-written and researched, informative and humorous describing events such as inept teams, dumbest trades, meanest players, and the most atrocious owners in history. Well done!! :-)

The incidents proved often to be a whole lotta fun. However, the relentless punsterism did tend to pall over time. Probably my favorite of the bunch: Joe Torre hitting into 4 double plays after Felix Millan went 4-for-4 ahead of him. (ouch!)

That went down fast--a little trip to drink from my youthful reading well. Billy Martin. The Baker Bowl. Lajoie v Cobb. The ChiSox in shorts. The Splendid Spitter. I feel a fixation coming on...
