Sweet Book …. with a lot of head butting

Jessica and Cody live in two different worlds. The faith-filled world is not for him. The daddy lifestyle isn’t either. He’s power driven and very good with words and has success written all over him. As for Jessica, she is emotionally needy, holds grudges can be judgmental. She has ‘mother’ written all over her… and she is full of faith.

Four years earlier, Cody abandoned Jess in the middle of their date, without saying a word … remember the grudge part mentioned above. No way Jess was letting that go.

See, Jess is a strong believer and Cody is not… not at all. Therein lies the problem. She talked about her beliefs during their dinner date and that didn’t sit well with Cody. He was a preacher’s kid who didn’t get along with his dad and never understood him, thus couldn’t relate to a loving Creator.

Sooooo, how do two people that have nothing in common come together? Well, let’s just say that’s A Beautiful Secret, as God works all things together for good. Jess and Cody may have little in common but they both had a best friend married to each other. A tragic accident took their lives and forever changed Jessica’s and Cody’s world. Their friends’ will has Jess and Cody as guardians of two small children.

How do we get a loving family with a happy ever after when two people are world’s apart? Let’s just say that God works in mysterious ways.

Oh, and I hope you enjoy all the head butting between these two because you’re going to ‘see’ a lot of it.

I was given an advance copy of this book and freely leave this review.

If you think you can ignore God you might find that God has never forgotten or ignored you.

Cody is living a successful life in New York City far from his dad and old friends in Oregon when he gets word his good friend and his wife have been killed in a car accident. Following the funeral at the reading of the will, Cody learns that he and Jessica (a strong, Christian woman he dated years ago and ditched at the restaurant) have been chosen to parent the two very young children of the deceased couple. Finding there is no way out of the situation, Cody and Jessica move into the home with the children and struggle at co-parenting.

T.K. Chapin takes on multiple complicated situations in this story, complete with long ignored family disputes that surface, a cancer diagnosis for Cody’s dad, and the primary issue of Christianity - Jessica is a devout Christian and Cody is not interested in living a Christian lifestyle. The strongest and most heartfelt part of this story is the discovery of a letter from Cody’s deceased friend discovered in the house titled “Beautiful Secrets”. It is a list of Bible verses and their importance in living a good Christ-based life.

This is not a simple story. It is a deep look at serious life situations and the only way to navigate them successfully - with Christ’s guidance. Mr. Chapin has created a very special, very powerful and very beautiful book.

When a successful New Yorker returns to his hometown for the funeral of a good friend and his wife, who died in an accident, he encounters a girl from his past. He had bailed on her in the middle of a first date, ten years ago, and she is still mad about it.
In their will, the couple made a startling provision for their young children in case they both should die. If he refuses, a totally unacceptable relative will become the children's guardian and control their money. How can he let such a travesty happen to his friend's children?
The girl who hates him would be required to cooperate with him if he decides to accept the will's provision. How can they accept the life-changing requirement and how can they refuse?
T. K. Chapin is a successful author who honors God with his story of developing faith and love.

This was a wonderful book. It was entertaining, but beyond that it was inspirational. Cody and Jessica are thrown into an unusual and difficult situation when their friends will them their children. They are overwhelmed with the idea and the reponsibility. But God had it all planned out and reading their story was not only fun but a sweet illustration of God and His faithfulness to help through difficult times in our lives. Even when we think our circumstances are impossible. This is such a good read. I can highly recommend this sweet, clean romance.

I received this book from the author as an ARC and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

One of my favorite things about T.K. is his ability to create characters you can connect with and Jessica and Cody are no exception. Thrown together in the wake of tragedy, they are forced to live a life that neither one of them would have chosen. As you read, you get caught up in their struggles to make something beautiful come out of the losses they’ve experienced, come together as a family, and recover from past hurts. Cody must reconcile his relationship with both his earthly and Heavenly Father. Jessica must come to terms with past failings of Cody. I was honestly sad when the book ended, I really want to know what happens next in their lives.

Beautiful Secrets by T. K. Chapin takes a couple who are enemies and puts them into a difficult situation that only God can change.

When Cody walked out on a date with Jessica years ago she was humiliated and can’t stand him. Then their best friends are killed and name them as their children's guardians. Jess and Cody aren’t even on the same page, how do you co parent with someone you can’t stand?

Jess is a strong believer and Cody is hostile to any mention of God, he is a successful big city guy who lives in New York and she’s a home girl who teaches school. Only God!

When Cody came to honor his friend after his death, he was surprised to learn that he was asked to raise his friend's two children in their own house, with a lady he could not tolerate. If he refused, a totally unacceptable relative would control their money and lives. He could not agree to that situation! But how could he accept his friend's request? And was she even agreeable?
T. K. Chapin is a new-to-me author who writes to honor God and helps Christian to appreciate the beautiful attributes and blessings of God. I plan to read more of his writing.

Loved this story of about finding out what truly matters in life. Cory who has achieved worldly success comes face to face with Jessica a Christian who simply lives out her faith. While Cody initially rejects Jessicas faith, will he see the light when he really sees Jessicas testimony of how she lives her life especially when they are thrown into an impossible situation together. I love the themes of life is hard but God is good, of understanding suffering, of finding meaning and purpose in life to love and marriage. As always this authors books deliver a solid inspirational story that challenges and encourages while teaching.

It's a great Christian book about Cody's friend who was killed and left his kids to him and Millesa. There was something in the past between the two. It's amazing what God will do if it's in his will between two to connect and have a family. I couldn't wait to read this book when I read what it was about. This is a great author and I give him all the thank for his talent in writing them.

I was excited to receive this book because I wanted to try a book written by TK Chapin. I had read positive reviews from the other books he had written. I was not disappointed by reading A book by him! The author makes Jessica and Cody come to life. The characters are thrown together through difficulty. The story models how one can make something beautiful out of the losses. They came together as a family and recoverd from past hurts. I highly recommend this book to anyone.

Beautiful Secrets

I loved this story of Jessica and Cody getting together even when their lives and faith were so different. Very believable characters and helped strengthen my faith as Cody developed his. I loved how the Beautiful secrets Jack left for Cody were woven into his life so he could share it several times with others. God is so good and a wonderful reminder that he always has a plan.

Beautiful Secrets reminds us that God's plan is sometimes opposite to what we want for ourselves... It shows us how He often grants us the desires of our heart - even if it is not in the simplest way we imagined. A story of faith... A story of forgiveness... A story of love for others over oneself.

God gives second chances

Another great book by T K Chapin. It made you feel like you were there with the characters. Was getting upset with Jessica some but she was just trying to keep her best friends children from getting hurt. A love story about forgiveness and raising her best friend children after their parents got killed in a car wreck. So emotionally touched.

An Okay Story

I liked some of this story, but I didn't like the fact that Jack left his children's to two single adults to live together in his home. Jessica a devoted Christian should have refused. Cody could have stayed somewhere else and came everyday to help with the kids. I felt Jessica was a little bossy especially in the beginning when they hardly knew each other.

Good but not T.K. Chapins best. I have read many of this author’s books and usually there’s excellent character development. This book was good but the main characters just didn’t seem as real as ones in the past.

Inspiring Book

What an amazing story. Jessica has the faith and understanding of God's will. Cody on the other hand does not. An unusual to brings them together. Can they make it work? Read this wonderful story to see how it goes.

True Christian Faith

The characters are real people with real feelings
They exemplify so many emotions and things life throws at us and how to react and learn from them. The faith explained in this story is so plain and understandable.Well worth time time spent in reading it.

Always a joy to read any of this author’s books. Really makes you examine your own life through his writings. What decisions are made without praying about it first will bring you on a road away from where God wants you to be. Is that where you want to be?
