Welcome back to Hambleton, Wyoming, home of the Speed Demons MC, where dark secrets threaten the town, and nobody is who they seem.

Atlas

The Speed Demons are preparing for war.
As Sergeant at Arms, it’s my job to protect the club and keep everyone safe. Then along comes Sophie Green, doctor, warrior, the perfect ol’ lady.

Can I keep her safe from the dark forces threatening the club? Or will I have to sacrifice the only person I’ve ever wanted to stick around?
Is it a case of right woman, wrong time?

Sophie

The first time I met Atlas was when his club brother had been shot. The second time, I pulled a bullet out of his shoulder. Wherever Atlas goes, trouble follows, but still, I can’t help being drawn to him.

For years I’ve battled to survive, and now I have to battle for the club and ultimately for him, but I’m sick of fighting.
It’s time that Atlas fought for me.

Sophie effectively escaped from her ex-husband, who was a police officer. He had become increasingly paranoid and accusatory. Sophie was beginning to understand that the charming man she married was merely a facade. The true Luke was starting to emerge from behind the mask, and Sophie was not fond of this side of him......

Hambleton was a beautiful small town. Quaint family stores, town square, war monument, and park. Quintessential small-town America. It was the ideal place to settle down and have kids, She was just starting to establish herself in this new town with a fresh job and a renewed focus on life. ..... Following a brief trip to the emergency room, her life was once more thrown into chaos.

Goodness, Atlas! This guy is a biker with no sense of manners, not exactly someone you'd consider for marriage. He has a filthy mouth and has been with many females, but he's never had a steady fu$k buddy Yet, he possesses a heart of gold for those he holds dear.

After everything was said and done, the man left me feeling dizzy; he was so unpredictable at the start of this book. Even I was like, what the heck, I can only imagine how Sophie must have felt.

Once Atlas began receiving dating advice from Cara, the story started to take a positive turn.

In the background, many events were unfolding, including the onset of a war between the two rival clubs. The most captivating part of the entire book was found in the epilogue.

Even though I was a bit skeptical about this book at first, especially after the last one, I found myself really enjoying it once I connected with Atlas, the big-hearted biker with a true purpose. But man, that ending just blew me away.

This author is one of the few who doesn’t write bikers as if they’re all manwhore and double standard. The hero is a biker all right from a MC and he meets the heroine at the emergency because she’s a doctor and has performed surgery on a brother. She overhears him body shaming her because she is skinny and doesn’t have curves. She is very hurt, because she thought he was attracted to her. The truth is the hero is attracted to her but he has the usual complex that makes him think he’s not good enough, he doesn’t want to involve her in dangerous club, yada yada so he tries to keep her distant being an ass each time they meet.
Oh, he’s 39 but his brain stopped its growth at 12 apparently.
He pretends to make out with other women to shoo her away but doesn’t actually do anything because he’s crazy about her.
Then eventually he stops being an asshole and is also surprised that she doesn’t immediately jumps with joy because he has asked her out. Really?
The heroine is also a piece of work. She had an abusive husband and moved because she wanted to have a new life. She’s 33 and very successful surgeon, she has friends. She’s also a black belt Krav Maga which I found a bit ott.
But she’s a pushover with the hero.
I wish she had a bit more of a backbone because she basically gave in too soon after he shamed her, rejected her, bullied for months. I mean, woman. He’s the unworthy one, not you.
A bit of club rivalry and some minor drama, thankfully there’s not much gory and violence since I’m not into it.
Safety. They get together some months after they’ve met, I don’t know if the hero was completely celibate, she was for sure, but apparently he isn’t a manwhore and all the times she saw him with ow was because he wanted her to see him. No explicit scenes with ow are described though.

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4.5)
Trope: ONS, opposites attract
Angst: 😱😱😱.5
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥

Completely falling in love with this series! Atlas is super protective of those he cares about, but he can be a grade A dickhead when he feels it necessary. Sophie Green, a local ER doc, comes in contact with him after she helps the club. He doesn't understand his attraction to her. She's not his usual type, but there's a draw that's almost tangible. After their first hook up, he pushes her away, overwhelmed with both his unexpected feelings for her as well as the knowledge that he's just not good for her or good enough for her. Sophie has had no interest in having a love life since she escaped her abusive ex. When Atlas starts playing hot and cold with her heart, she decides she's done and walks away. She's not rolling over for a man ever again. Atlas is going to have to work harder than he's ever had to repair the hurt he's caused and win back the woman he loves.

Such a fantastic read! I love opposite attracts stories and there's no couple who could embody this better than Atlas and Sophie. Atlas, the giant beast of a man who uses his fists to problem solve. He's crude and lewd and completely overwhelmed by his attraction to this little slip of an ER doc who is WAY out of his league. Sophie is quiet, unassuming, and married to her job. But somehow their relationship makes sense. Sophie was married to the "right" man before and it ended tragically. Atlas makes her hot and safe all in the same breath. Good storyline with tons of action that's an ongoing part of the series story arc. The banter between them was awesome that had me literally laughing out loud. Great girl gang which makes it extra fun. Decent grovel which was a bit glossed over, but definitely there - it was definitely a bit more angsty than I expected. Overall, a fantastic read in a series that I'd highly recommend. The bomb dropped for Breaker's book next has me on pins and needles until I can get my hands on it, lol.

It must be me, lots of FB recommendations for this one, but he annoyed the hell out of me

He takes choosing to be an asshole very seriously.

2 meh, I’m not sure what’s I expected, but this isn’t it.

Also, not a fan of epilogues that are actually bait for the next book.

Im sorry but you cannot start with her being in a abusive and horrible situation to later make their first interaction being him a horrible person and not only that first time he time and time again is an AH and honestly everything he says to her or about her is being abusive, he willing know that he is being disrespectful and hurting her and still does, in what world that's acceptable? In what world isn't abuse? like why you will want to have a relationship with someone who doesn't care for your feelings and treats you less than anything, sure he probably will grovel and why not but for me is a big NO especially with her background, like if you escape a horrible abusive situation the least you can expect with anyone in your personal life is to be a decent human being with you, like the bar is really really low, just be nice and that's it and he isn't even that!

For sure he is not the first nor the last alpha hole I had read but at least in those books we don't see how much the main character has suffered, like sure she feels hurt but we don't get to read literally how they escape that situation.

What made it worst beside reading her past history was their “sexual attraction” how hard he was when he saw her crying but oh she is so fierce and has fire on her, no sir, your brother almost die and is in a critical situation so don't be lusting after his doctor nor harass and bully said doctor. And then we get her POV and how they kiss to later read how he thinks she has a body of a 15 year old boy and will only fuck her to make her treat better his brother and even then she is hurt but still has the hots for him the next chapter.

Sorry but not, the bar is so low and still it infuriates me how little respect she had for herself specially after everything that happens to her and not a mount of grovel would change my mind that he is a horrible character, sure he didn't hit her but he was just a bully because he had the hots for her.

Goodreads doesn't like me. Anyways, once again I'll write a review. But short because I'm not even going to deal with this.

I didn't care for the h Sophie. She's not my kind of FMC. She's completely unrealistic with her fighting skills, and her taking out men who have fighting skills was OTT, and once again unrealistic. I still like Atlas even though he acted like a dick. Their banter was cute. The side characters once again were good. The plot was ok. Still fighting against a rival MC. This is definitely the least of my favorites so far. I'm looking forward to Breaker's book, and especially Freya and Colt's. I'm anticipating those. Much more than the others. Though the fmc described for Breaker's book is being called a ball buster. Yeah, I don't like FMCs described as ball busters in books. We'll see I guess.

Unfortunately this series seems to be turning into a women's fiction. There's just no way men from an MC would be acting this way. Not my style for an MC book. Though this has comical parts to it. The author did well there.

Atlas loves his role as the Sergeant at Arms for the Speed Demons MC. His job is to look after his brothers amongst other things and when one of his brothers is hurt, he wants the doctor to stand by his side and monitor him 24/7. The problem is Dr. Sophie Green has other patients to attend to. Atlas is not known for controlling his mouth and lets her have it. When Atlas himself gets hurt, the MC calls in a favor and again she is forced to bear Atlas's deplorable behavior. The thing is though Sophie doesn't realize that Atlas is just acting up because he likes her. Can the rough speaking brawny biker change the mind of the brilliant doctor and get her to accept him as her man?

This was a fun one. Atlas is a jerk, pure and simple just a big jerk but there is a soft side and when he decides to go all in with Sophie, you see a soft side only for her though no one else. He is brash and at the same time loveable. Loved this one.

The first half Atlas is horrid to her, the second half he’s really sweet. bizarre!

The first half of the book I hated him! Absolutely loathed him as he’s scared of his feelings for Sophie, so he treats her terribly. He’s a d…k to her over and over, then he decides she’s worth the risk and starts to charm her. I would have been running for the hills long before that!

Sophie is a surgeon who treats Bowie when he’s shot. When Atlas first sees her he feels a pull towards her, that he doesn’t want to feel. For whatever reason she finds herself attracted to him, until she overhears him talking to the president of the Mc about her, saying she has a body of a 15 year old boy. The Atlas and Sophie story carries on with him being awful to her, and her still hanging around the Mc. When they eventually get together, he’s really sweet to her and romances her.

The Mc is under threat from a rival Mc, who are really dangerous, but nothing happens. This book is 348 pages long, and it drags on and on with nothing happening. A tiny bit of danger happens and it started to get good, then it was over.

Apologies if this review is boring, sadly it’s because this book is boring. One last complaint. Atlas constantly calling Sophie b*tch is awful! He calls her it all the time, EVEN DURING SEX! He calls all the women of the club it as well.

4.5⭐️Enjoying this series. It always takes me a bit to get used to the dialogue the bikers use. it's very slang.
I wasn't sure I was going to be into Atlas and the good Doc when they were introduced in the previous books, but I'll tell you their book is probably my favourite to date.
Atlas was a big ol grizzly bear...
I really liked sophie. She had maturity (she is early 30s) she had lived through some shit that can really put life into perspective real quick for a person.
She was tough but also had her insecurities like we all do, but again her maturity was a real winner for her character, she was angry with how Atlas initially treated her but she often put it aside to help the club and also ultimately didnt hold a grudge, she thought rationally and all round she was just a really kick ass chick.
I was hoping soooo bad that Ned would be the next book... I was hoping it would be Kit or iceman, and OMG, THE ENDING LEFT ME IN SHOCK..... bomb dropped... can not wait to read this because it sounds juicy AF.

Loved it!

To say I wanted to give Atlas a whack repeatedly for the first 40% of the book, I loved him by the end! Sophie was an amazing character, and I loved them together.

There was one heck of a twist at the end, and I am so excited for the next book to find out what happens next!

Atlas is my kind of hero. He’s huge, grumpy, doesn’t want a relationship…and is kinda dumb about romance and women outside of one night stands. Sophie has literally had her world rocked in an awful way by her ex, and she’s just starting to find her feet in this new town with a new job and focus on life. Atlas makes so very many mistakes with Sophie, to the point she thinks that he can’t stand her. Warning - Atlas is above and beyond an a$$hole to her. He made my heart hurt. You kinda get why he’s doing it to protect her, but also because he’s scared of having deep feelings. Sophie is also afraid to trust because of her past and now Atlas messing her around. The middle half of the book is really a slow burn. I liked the grovel, but things got so slow for me at some points. Overall, it’s a fabulous read with lots of romance, club action, all sorts of drama, and we get to see favorite and new favorite characters. The ending isn’t exactly a cliffhanger, but it’s quite a shock leading to the next book!

Brilliant, Brilliant, Brilliant... ❤️❤️❤️

Omg Atlas was amazing! Hands down the best book I've read so far this year . I can't get enough of this series and couldn't put this book down. Atlas gave me all the feels , I wanted to throat punch him , knee him in the family jewels , hug him and wipe the smugness from his face with one of Sophie's Krav Maga mooves to say he was a conceited jerk was an understatement. However he had a heart of gold and he loved his family with everything he had he'd lay down his life for everyone of his brothers and their Ole Ladies in a heartbeat.

He knew he stuffed up big time with Dr Sophie Green he kept putting his foot in his mouth everytime he was around her . Yet deep down she rattled him to his core and he didn't know how to deal with that emotion.

The funny banter between the men had me laughing out loud so much so I was in stitches at some parts.
I can't recommend this series enough and the ending !!! OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG !!! WOW did not see that coming 🤣.

Freaking awesome !

Atlas is the club Sargent At Arms and prides himself on protecting the club. He’s been a protector to his sister and mother, and now he watches over his club brothers. The safety of the pretty doc he wants to have beens pushing her away, even if has to act like a complete a-hole to do it.

Sophie has made herself strong. She is badass in every sense of the word. Atlas finds her soft underbelly every time. To stop the hurt, she will do anything to avoid him but she keeps getting dragged back in. One minute she has his full attention, the next its nastiness and hurt. What game is he playing?

Beware: You will want to throat-strike and nut-punch this hero before he gets himself together. He puts the A in a-hole. I personally would have liked to see him grovel a lot more, but Sophie is too mature to make him beg. Sadly.

Love this series and love this author. The conflict makes sense, in the characters behaviour, their interactions and the overall story arch. The ending is FANTASTIC with just the right amount of foreshadowing. I’m looking forward to the next book!

This book had me cracking up at times and shaking my head a lot of times! The banter between the MC brothers was so comical. Atlas made so many grievous errors in dealing with Sophie! 🤦‍♀️ She deserved a lot of groveling from him! I'm glad he finally got it together eventually. Took him long enough!
The end was great - I'm ready for the next book already. All the books lol

I’m in love 🥰 Who knew that a big gruff, tough biker named Atlas could make a woman swoon, I swooned, Sophie swooned and every lady who reads this book is definitely going to swoon. I absolutely loved Atlas and Sophie’s story ❤️❤️❤️ he said he didn’t know how to do romance then romanced the hell out of her. I’m getting a copy of the ‘mixed tape’ Atlas is one smooth dude. This novel made me feel good and smile a lot. 100% recommend this book to everyone ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was another enjoyable book by Ford that I’m glad to have picked up.

Danny, known to all in the MC as Atlas was the reason I started this book. He was a character who stood out to me when I read ‘On The Rocks' and because I wanted to learn more about him and his backstory I jumped straight to his book. I won’t lie, when I started it my first thought was ‘where is the guy I liked? cause this one is an arsehole’. I was expecting a tough and rough exterior with this being an MC romance but honestly Atlas was a bully with an abrasive and mean personality. Thankfully we saw a big change in Atlas as the book progressed. I liked learning more about his back story and the exploration of how he had given so much of himself whilst looking after others that he was running on empty. In addition to how when he realised how much of an arse he had been he made thought out attempts to atone for his actions and words. By the end of the book we had learnt he was a guy that whilst intense had a very quiet confidence about him, was humorous, brutally honest, and treated the people that he loved like gold.

In contrast to Atlas we had Sophie. Having escaped an abusive relationship she'd moved to Hambleton to start again. She wanted to make new friends, find that family dynamic she’d been missing, and maybe eventually find someone to be with but it wasn’t long before she realised that parts of her had been marked in a way that stopped trust. So without the ability to trust her own judgement she’d been living a closed and isolated life. What I really liked about Sophie was how much of a force to be reckoned with she was. She had a very fiery nature which we saw gradually become more prominent as the book progressed and I admired the steps she had taken and all the training she had done to protect herself. Some of my favourite scenes of this book were when she was training the MC in fighting and defense. I really enjoyed the scenes where she wiped the cocky smiles off their faces and knocked some of them out cold in just a single move. As her relationship with the MC transitioned to one of respect and camaraderie and she became a friend whilst also getting closer to Atlas we saw her sweet and a little goofy side and it became a bit of a joy to see her relax and settle into a life she thought she would not have.

Despite the aspects of their personalities that gave them an opposites attract vibe these two had clashing fiery personalities and with the way that Atlas behaved at the start of the book it was no wonder that this was an enemies to lovers story. Their first meeting was less than stellar with Atlas not only crossing boundaries and lines but just being a major arse in the way that he behaved. However you couldn’t deny the depiction of a spark which caused a passionate kiss seemingly out of nowhere. Though given her trust issues and his behaviour things went cold before they had the chance to really heat up. Atlas and Sophie were a slow burn couple who threw one another off balance, gave as good as they got, and had a hot and cold dynamic that kept things interesting and the tension fluctuating. When Atlas realised that his mission to keep her away to keep her safe wasn’t necessary he also realised how much he needed to atone for and that a mighty grovel was in his future. With this came a switch in their dynamic that built an evolving camaraderie whilst maintaining the fire. But having never courted someone and still in the process of atoning Atlas found it hard and Sophie with her insecurities missed the importance of a lot of his actions. I enjoyed the evolution of their dynamic and I did find myself rooting for them very early on. I loved the moments of shared vulnerability, how they looked after one another, and how they helped each other experience the joy of life again. By the end of the book it was obvious why they had stood out for me in On The Rocks, there is just something about this rough MC biker and fiery Doctor together that works.

Outside of them you had the rest of the cast of characters in the Speed Demons series. I found the dynamic of the MC brothers to be that mix of debauchery, fun, humour, and unwavering loyalty you expect from an MC series and there were certain brothers that I am 100% interested in learning more about. The partners or potential partners of the MC brothers were also interesting, I liked how they took Sophie under their wing and can see a lot of potential for growing female friendships in this series. You just know that together they will drive their men insane. The few children in the MC added cuteness and humour especially with how they acted with Atlas and that scene where Atlas became an unprepared target in a self defence move by one of the kids was another standout moment.

The storyline around Sophie’s past is a potentially difficult theme for some readers and whilst it at times acted as a plot device it was something I found to be thought out and treated with respect - nothing came across as being thrown into the plot purely for a shock factor. As did its mild commentary of police cover ups and injustice. The storyline around the rival MC and their dodgy and inhumane businesses also has the potential to be triggering but again it was treated with respect and is obviously something we have only been given a snapshot of in this book. At the moment it reads as an overarching storyline you’d expect to feature in an MC series - that is not to say however that I am not looking forward to it being explored more.

I enjoyed Atlas. He and Sophie were an interesting couple with an enjoyable and fiery dynamic that I couldn’t get enough of. When you go from almost hating a character at the start of the book to loving a few things about them by the end, you know it has been a good read. I enjoyed my first dive into the Speed Demons series and I will be back for more.

Favourite Quote(s):
‘Suddenly, I was seein’ Sophie ‘I'll kick your ass’ Green in a whole new light, and fuck me, I liked it.
I liked it a whole goddamned lot.’

Sophie was the doctor, but she was gonna have to step aside ‘cause I was gonna turn shit on its head by healing her. It was time to commence with ‘Operation Charm Stitch.’

“‘Cause Stitch baby, I've realized that I'd rather be scared with you than without you. I swear you can trust me.”

“Can't give you romance, baby. Dunno how. I'm gonna say and do the wrong things all the goddamned time. Probably make you pissed every day. But I’ll do right by ya. I'll give you all of me if you gimme all of you.”

4 stars for Atlas and Sophie.

Not gonna lie, I didn’t have much hope for Atlas after their first interaction. I was like wow, this guy is an asshole. Then they had their second interaction and I was like wow, this guy is REALLY an asshole. By the third time he insulted her I was like okay I hate this guy and it will take a lot for him to be redeemed. Because wow he said some really awful things. She came from an abusive relationship and then she was basically being mentally/emotionally abused by Atlas every time they saw each other. She even kept saying how badly he knocked down her confidence. So I was a bit wary about that BUT I will say the man did redeem himself. He was remorseful and did a complete turn around to win and keep Sophie. You could see how much he adored her and how badly he knows he messed up.

Speaking of Sophie, she was probably my favorite in this book. I absolutely loved that she stood her ground when Atlas came crawling to her. I LOVED when she slammed the door in his face. I actually fist pumped. I loved how she wasn’t betrayed by her body as we so often see. It was so nice to see a women saying, “yes, this man makes me wet but he’s been such an asshole to me there’s no way I’m sleeping with him.” Because let’s be real, that’s what a woman should say. She made him work for it and it was really refreshing to see.

I didn’t really like how he called her a bitch so many times. That’s like, a big no no for me. Especially when he was saying it during an argument but then using it as a sort of endearment when they were in bed. Kind of like calling a girl a slut and meaning it but then saying she’s your “dirty little slut” in bed. It just rings different.

Speaking of bed, the sex scenes?? 🔥🔥 So hot!! Ten out of ten, would read them again.

Can’t wait for the next one. I hope Kit’s girl makes him grovel like you’ve never seen. Especially since he’s been sleeping with so many women. Ugh.

This was a decent read, but unfortunately it didn’t leave anything in me after I finished reading it.

The writing was nice, the storyline flowed, I’d say pretty well.

However, it was their relationship that I didn’t really like. Now let’s divide it into 3 stages: before, during and after.

While their before stage (aka the enemies stage but not really, more like him being an asshole stage) and their after stage (where they finally became official) was okay, their during stage, which was also the one that I was looking forward to the most, wasn’t enough, or at least wasn’t shown enough on page. I was surprised to see that 6 months had passed since their first encounter. What we had was literally crumbs of their interactions here and there along the way that made their relationship a bit lacking and felt somewhat insta-lovey afterward.

Moreover, I’m not a big fan of him kept saying that she was a bitch. Which I guess was not really a problem when they were in private and in the mood, but in public? That’s another story. In fact, I don’t think he should open his mouth at all, because most of the dramas/ conflicts happened between them started with what he said to and about her. Bro should have just played the mysterious grumpy guy and that would have been enough, hot even. But sadly…

Anyway overall, this was okay I guess, not that bad but definitely not that good. I’ll probably forget about this later sorry.

Atlas by Jules Ford

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Amazing.

This was a great read and I just loved the characters so much that I never wanted it to end. I had been looking forward to it since we first saw Atlas in the first book of the series, Bowie, so I dived right in and didn't put it down.

While at times I really wanted him to get a good slap the relationship seemed to flow in a great way. Sophie seemed exactly the women that Atlas needed as his ol' lady. Her martial art skills and strong willed personality was inspiring and loved her humor that was brought to life with some awesome writing that pulled me in from the start.

While this can be read as standalone I would recommend reading series from the start for the background. I recommend for those who enjoy MC romance and small town romance. It will be on my reread list and I can't wait for more of this series and from the author in general.
