Anne Hussey (b. 1934) published her only book of poetry in her mid-40's, and it hits a delicious balance between worldly wisdom and creative pop. Her range of subjects is a fun kind of startling, touching on music, science, memory, war and many other avenues that are travelled with assured skill. All the work here is excellent, which makes it such a shame that Hussey dropped off the map after this book was published. I was unable to find any information on her outside of what's on the dust jacket, so if anyone cares to comment with her wherabouts I'd be very interested. If you can find Baddeck I highly recommend it - one of the strongest 70's titles from Wesleyan University Press's lauded poetry series.
