Aunt K owns a farm where alpacas and a menagerie of other animals live. Three yorkies—Jingle, Jaywok, and Joi Daisy—visit the farm and learn about the different animals including some of the history of these great animals.
The yorkies become good friends with June and Josie, a couple of young alpacas. Jingle, Jaywok, and Joi Daisy also meet Betty, the sled dog, a world class athlete who competed in the Iditarod. The farm is home to many more animals, and the yorkie pups think it’s great fun to learn about creatures from different parts of the world.
This picture book for children shares the message that you can be friends no matter what color, size, and background you come from.
A failure and no mistake, this features some dogs going to meet some alpaca crias, and absolutely everyone has a name beginning with J (apart from those who don't, of course) and then it turns into a lesson about the Iditarod sled dog race, and while some pages are naively simple in their visuals the rest are just splodges of full-on text that will not appeal to the target audience. And then skipping forward an African tortoise turns up, just because, and then it's the end. And I'm left admitting the creator of this has beaten me hands down – Number of Kids' Books Created = 1-0. But would I ever put my name to something so shoddy and naive and frankly pointless? No sirree.
I am so, so torn about dropping in the obvious joke about this book and pond-life. Aargh, that old nominative determinism debate...
Alpaca Ranch Fun! is an adorable and joy-filled adventure that instantly lifts your mood. Jack Rotifer captures the playful spirit of the alpacas with such charm that you can’t help but smile as you turn the pages. The story is light, engaging, and full of personality, making it a perfect read for kids, and for adults who appreciate wholesome, happy storytelling.
What truly stands out is how the book blends fun, gentle humor, and curious moments that spark imagination. The alpacas feel like real characters, each with their own quirks, and the ranch setting is described with such warmth that you feel like you’re right there enjoying the day with them.

This book is put together as a picture book, but it is way too long. Not only is it broken up in chapters, each page it is just covered in words. The information is good, so it serves its purpose, but it comes from a smaller publisher that isn’t ready to run with the Big 5 yet. Overall, I like the book but it’s not one that I would buy for my community or for my personal library.
Three Yorkies go with their owner to an Alpaca ranch and meet many different animals. They discover that even though they are different, they can all be friends. Cute illustrations and an enjoyable story.
