This collection is a delight--full of lucid, intelligent and imaginative poems. For me, one of the marks of a great collection is that the experience of reading the poems triggers my own memories and emotions so much that I want to stop reading in order to get writing. I had the same experience with this collection that I had when reading Doty's My Alexandria and Flynn's Some Ether: I loved the poems too much to put them down, but wanted to turn on the computer and use them as a springboard for my own work. And now I'm going to read everything by Wojahn. . .

Often imaginative but often lost in serendipity- bold ideas and bold tones without bold language and a bold foundation. Often the makings of miracles somewhere in the everyday ekphrasis but too much is buried under a varnish of raw experience that makes each poem like a slab of meat more than a finished meal. Would be excellent if not trying too heavily to be real.
