I was glad when I read in the blurb that Swept Away is about an established couple and their fifteenth anniversary.
I don’t know what I expected but not this, that’s for sure.
Mike and Eddie's usual way of celebrating their anniversary - - was really disturbing. No wonder Eddie is sick of it.
The very unromantic way of how they met and fell in love made it even worse: But they stayed together for fifteen years after that, so I’m trying not to be judgmental – with no success, apparently…
So apart from – or because of – these things they didn’t seem to be a great couple. They weren’t in synch, there was no connection or affection between them. Their relationship was dying.
There was nothing in this story I liked. It wasn’t sweet, romantic or hot. I expected more…
This short story is romantic and sweet!! One thing I love that this is about an established couple. Eddie and Mike has been together for 15 years, and that is something VERY positive. Something different than two people just start a relationship. It gives a positive look-out on a romantic journey -- and how lovely Mike is, to give a break that they both need on a 15th anniversary by giving a holiday surprise to Eddie ... Beautiful setting, beautiful writing, and even that it stops there, I imagine the two of them will be recharged when they get back to Ohio and to the routine life.
My story for the M/M Romance group's "Hot Summer Days" event.

A very sweet story about an established couple celebrating their 15th anniversary :) I loved the surprise trip that Mike planned. Makes me want to do something similar for my husband. I can totally relate. Real life, work, and stress can completely overwhelm you and sometimes you just need to "take a break"!
What a perfect "established couple" story with a lovely, "awwww" ending. Sloan Parker gives us two hard-working men who need a little break from the daily grind to reaffirm their love on their fifteenth anniversary. Swept Away is a short, sweet, feel good story sure to leave a reader smiling.
Excellent free short m/m romance about lawyer, part of a couple who've celebrated their anniversary the same way for 15 years, who's dreading this year's anniversary celebration.
Sloan, you know I was hanging out for this one, and you didn't disappoint at all! Loved it!
Mike's thoughtfulness was beautiful - a surprise getaway, the hard-to-find lube, the quiet dining table set for two on the decking - all showing his awareness of how life can overtake the romance in a relationship. Eddie was so cute too, when he was playing in the water - A fucking giggle.
This is a special story and I thank you for writing it!
Aww, I just loved this, it was so romantic and sweet. I love stories about established couple who continue to work to make their relationships work and are totally committed to each other. I really loved the characters and writing!
Well, that was super sweet! :-) I do have one con and that is, I wish I knew how the MCs got to the place they are now. I don't necessarily feel like I'm missing info I just would have loved to have more of their story.
● Contemporary ● Part of the DRiTC Vol 4 ● A loving established couple ● Mature couple (in their 40's) ● Really sweet ● Swoon worthy ● A far bit of sex for such a short story ● Loved the MCs ● Satisfying enough ending but wish there was more ● Short, under 50 pages
Ooh, I liked this short very sexy story about an established couple, Mike and Eddie, celebrating 15 years together, and how sometimes breaking traditions can give an old relationship a new edge. 4 stars.
I sometimes just don't understand some people's logic and it must be so frustrating for an author. We are told this little SHORT story is only 27 pages long, we're also told that it is simply a celebration of the couple's 15th anniversary together but with a surprise twist for one of the partners. What were some people expecting? You cannot develop true angst, plot or characters in 27 pages! I think I got exactly what the author promised...a sweet romantic celebration of two men after spending 15 years together and reminding themselves again why they fell in love in the first place. Nothing more and nothing less should have been expected!
I had tears in my eyes at the end - totally loved it! Two big cuddly teddy bears and one extremely romantic getaway to celebrate an important milestone made for a fantastic story. I was completely wrapped up in everything Eddie was feeling - the descriptions were very vivid. His journey from being weighed down with daily frustrations to the almost immense gratitude of being alone with his man was so heartfelt. Awesome and amazing - thank you, Sloan!!!
3.5 stars This was really sweet. I wasn't sure how I felt about reading a short about an established relationship, but it worked since it was sort of a turning point in their relationship without there being any major drama.
One of the sweetest, most romantic short stories I've had the pleasure to read.
Sloan Parker's writing style is as great as ever, the characters well rounded, the locations and descriptions sucked me in, the feelings, emotions, the triumphs and troubles of a long-term relationship nicely and skillfully explored.
I can hardly believe all this could be done in so very few pages. 3.5 stars
I loved this.... the only thing I'm wondering is... did Eddie win his court case? Oh, and how did the remodel go for Mike? And I'd like to hear how these two met? Oh, my, guess it wasn't the only thing I was wondering about :)
A five minute read that made me swoon! An established couple reconnecting in a setting so romantic it brought tears to my eyes. Beautiful descriptions, fantastic characterisations, and did I mention romantic? :)
I enjoy established couple reads and this was no exception. I did think their anniversary tradition is odd though. I mean, who celebrates their anniversary by having
Gosh but this was one of the most romantic things I've ever read! I loved all of the little details that Mike remembered to make their anniversary special!
