Terry is the life story of a gay man growing up in New Orleans, who comes of age in the 1970s. It begins with a brief episode in which we observe hm pursuing his online interest in pornography as an adult. The narrative then shifts to his childhood, his discovery of his sexuality and the particular objects of his desire, straight, athletic men. Though such men are unattainable to him as sexual partners, he forms lasting relationships with some of them throughout high school, college, and beyond, the relationships both rewarding and frustrating. One of these men is a professional baseball player. When, during college, he finally begins to explore life as a gay man, negotiating these relationships is a struggle, and, once he finds a long-term partner, his preoccupation with pornography is another. While he loves his partner, his sexual interest in the kinds of men to whom he has always been drawn persists. The novel ends with a birthday party celebrating his fiftieth year.

Please be advised that the novel contains explicit sexual content and is intended for adult audiences.
