The verses are thought-provoking and are heavily influenced by the events that plague the society. The poet is a philosopher who has an optimistic outlook of life which speaks volumes on why the poems end with hope. The prose emphasizes the fallacies of a beautiful creation i.e mind which has boundless imagination. The reverie is burst and reality dawns on the narrator. Second Star : Poetry of the Conscious State by Puranjay Khanna is a collection of poetry and prose inspired by diverse themes.
First reason why I liked the book is because it's very rare that such a combination of poetry and prose can be available to a reader in one book. It went perfect with my mood this month. Second is the emphasis of the underlying meaning of the poems. They're based on so many different approaches rather than what I usually read that is romance and nature love. This book has those too though. I remember reading a poem which felt it was written from a perspective of heartbreak, but even that felt fresh.
Also genuinely loved the title. Very beautifully penned it down, I believe.
Next, as it happens with all poetry books - there were some poems I would say I couldn't relate to. They were easy to understand but felt like some passages of feelings unknown to me. I'm sure life would introduce those soon.
The language used by the writer is one filled with literary eloquence. You'll feel the charm of words, the rich poetry devices, the rhyming factor.

I absolutely love the cover. The illustration of a silent kid sitting under the stark black sky with different phases of moon in the background sparks so many emotions. Its like the moon represents the life's transitions.
There are plethora of poems and notes, to be exact 110 pieces in this collection. Mostly metaphorical in nature. But still lucid enough to comprehend and absorb. Moreover most of them are in my prefered rhymic style. Each of them share about some thoughts, experiences and observed moments in his life that we all can relate too as well.

What is life? What is it's purpose? What it is like to live a life? This book is a story who struggled to overcome the complexities of the life in order to shine like a star and be a ray of hope. It is a take on no matter how immeasurable is the pain one should always find joy in doing things.
The poetry is deep rooted in understanding consciousness of an individual and overcome societal and peer pressure at every stage and stand free of ties. It is about the hidden ability of an individual which must not emanate from the feer of societal acceptance and rather break ties inorder to become empowered and control their own thoughts. In a way we must see and perceive things as we wish to comprehend and live life because there is no end to the thoughts.

The mix of emotions, perspectives and nuances captured by the poet are praise worthy. I must appreciate the wide range of topics touched upon, showcasing the writer's depth and expanse of thought.
The book is an amalgamation of varied rhyme schemes, prose and free verse. I love the fact that each poem has some lessons to be learnt or aspects to ponder upon. The writer's view of life is what fascinated me the most, as each poem unfolded.
The writing style is easy to comprehend but some poems miss the mark to evoke emotions. I loved the Karma paradox, art-i-ficial and Ease, which are some of my favorite ones. The mesmerizing cover is a plus! Perfect for poetry lovers! ✨

A compilation of poetry and short stories, Second Star is a treasure trove of seeing the world through someone’s eyes. The writing covers a variety of subjects and touches upon life, politics, the world we live in and relationships.
While reading I realised that a lot of these poems have deeper, darker undertones that I wasn’t expecting. However, this made for a richer reading experience where I looked for the more meaning in each poem and tried to understand it from multiple perspectives.
One of the most positive and interesting poems for me is ‘Ease’. It is a long one, but here are a couple of lines that made me think harder about my life and introspect on what is important to me:
‘The birth of an idea is like a breeze
Realising now that you are at ease
You realise what you had once lost
And decide to keep it now at any cost’
