With my Dad being a racer, he totally talked up this book and I was lucky enough to find a copy to read. Stroker Ace is one wild ride and has a definite lack of as well as excess of charm. It was a very fun and wild romp through the fast lane life of racing. Neely and Ottum have a wonderful sense of humor and grasp of country slang!

Great book,Bad movie! This could be the funniest books ever written. If you like NASCAR, you owe it to yourself to read Stand On It!

I've been wanting to read the out of print "Stand on It" by Stroker Ace (aka William Neely and Bob Ottum) for quite a few years but every time I looked into buying a used copy the sellers were always asking outrageous prices. I'm not going to pay $75 or $80 for a book that nobody cares about except me. Well after quite a few years of looking, I found a seller that was asking $8. Sold. I'm not saying I had high expectations but "Stand on It" is not worth $80. It's a funny book but it's nothing special. It really doesn't have much of a story. It's just a semi-raunchy 70's comedy similar to other books that came out back then. I'm glad I read it. I won't be trying to sell it for $80. I plan on dumping it on my brother.
