Dr. Charles F. Stanley is the senior pastor of First Baptist Church Atlanta, founder of In Touch Ministries, and a New York Times best-selling author who has written more than fifty books, and has sold more than nine million copies. He demonstrates a keen awareness of people's needs and provides Christ-centered, biblically-based principles for everyday life.

Charles Frazier Stanley was born September 25, 1932, in the small town of Dry Fork, Virginia. The only child of Charley and Rebecca Stanley, Charles came into the world during a time when the entire nation felt the grip of the Great Depression. To make matters worse, just nine months later, his father Charley died at the young age of 29.

However, Charles refused to let the Great Depression or the difficulties of his life define him. Instead, like his father and grandfather before him, he clung to God’s Word and took up the mantle to preach the gospel to whoever would listen.

Dr. Stanley’s motivation is best represented by the truth found in Acts 20:24, “Life is worth nothing unless I use it for doing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about God's mighty kindness and love.” This is because, as he says, “It is the Word of God and the work of God that changes people’s lives.”

Dr. Stanley’s teachings can be heard weekly at First Baptist Church Atlanta, daily on “In Touch with Dr. Charles Stanley” radio and television broadcasts on more than 2,800 stations around the world, on the Internet at intouch.org, through the In Touch Messenger, and in the monthly, award-winning In Touch magazine.

Questions. We all have them but the one question that resonates among us is "why?" Why do bad and unfortunate things happen to good people? Why does it seem like bad people are rewarded with good things? Dr. Stanley gives many examples of situations that we may face and want to run as fast as we can away from. These things cause us pain, fear, anxiousness, insecurity, and hopelessness. These things can literally and figuratively drive you crazy if you allow it.

Yet, Dr. Stanley explains simply how to recognize and understand that there are simply unexplainable occurrences. He also gives clear and powerful messages about people's intent to do evil, while God will turn adversity into good. Such things can result from jealousy, hostility, bitterness, ill-will or resentment. We are reminded of the story about Joseph and the wicked and heinous things his brothers did to him, yet Joseph held no animosity when his brothers needed him.

Without love, there is no peace. Without peace, you cannot find joy. Without joy, you will not understand hope. Without hope, how can one live? "God is in Control" is an easy-to-understand recommended read that is not preachy. It's a little book that embodies great hope.

Besides the beautiful pictures, we are blessed with some very Godly wisdom telling us that God is in control of everything in our lives. Romans 8:28 tells us that everything works together for our good. This book expands on that subject.

God has something to teach us from each experience.

Awesome book. Well written. When Christians go through tough times, Charles Stanley helps us remember that God Is In Control! He may have to take us through tough times to teach us that. Loved this book so much!!

This book is a pretty little book that looks like the kind of book you might get as a gift. But I will say, it gave me serious comfort after my son was stillborn. It isn't just for those who grieve, but it pointed me toward a lot of scripture that really helped me get through the worst nights.

Quick read. A good book to keep on hand when our hearts faint at some of the issues of life (and sometimes they will). God is in Control.

This book is such an easy, no nonsense, no frills, way to find peace in God.

A lot of times, christian books try to force words or points just to make the book longer. It tends to make the book just spin in circles and become jumbled. This book, however, is short, peaceful and easy to digest. I devoured it in one sitting and I know its one that I'll likely always go back to and read whenever I'm in a hard place.

All the points are just PRACTICAL. There's no judgement. There are guided prayers. and his own photography serves as the background for the pages. Absolutely worth the read.

A short book whose main point is that God is in control over everything that happens in a believer's life including the bad. When we are confronted with the bad things in our lives we should ask God what he wants us to learn from the situation and how good will come out of it.

I was looking for more on this subject. This is really just a little coffee table book.

Concise way to explain why not to worry

While I didn’t totally agree with everything Charles Stanley says in this book, I did like how he reminds us throughout that God IS in control.
There were some magnificent thoughts in the book that I highlighted and am sure I’ll refer to in the future.

This book was a gift from my secret sister at church--I found much help within its pages, from reassurances that God is always in control to reminders that if we are going through a trial, God is allowing that trial to shape us and to teach us and using it to equip us to be of use in His kingdom.
