Crop Circles: Signs, Wonders and Mysteries

Rate this book
Each summer all over the world, gigantic and magnificent works of art are sculpted in fields of wheat, barley and other crops. Usually formed under the veil of darkness, in the few short hours between sunset and sunrise, they become visible as the mists of early morning evaporate under the rays of the sun. But are they elaborate hoaxes or eternal mysteries? World authorities, Karen and Steve Alexander reveal that hidden within the proportions and shapes of many of these spectacular designs are measures and harmonies that have been used for thousands of years in the creation of sacred and holy spaces. This ancient way of using design, measure and proportion is explored here to the full. Sacred geometry, numerology and other mustical concepts long forgotten in modern design are discussed alongside the crop circles in which they have been found. The result is a groundbreaking book that reaches to the heart of these mysteroius creations.

This book was incredible (meaning, that is, that it was, incredibly, actually quite credible). Very thought-provoking, to say the least. I cannot say I find the standard dismissal popularly aceppted with a shrug of the shoulders - "Eh, didn't people come forward and confess that they made them?" - to be entirely satisfying.

But whatever the answer to this mystery, these intricate patterns - even if just done by clever hoaxers - are insanely striking and I cannot fathom how they possible are completed over night, with no discovery of the process happening.

Crop circles are simply amazing works of art, regardless of whether you think they were made by a aliens from Betelgeuse or pranksters from the local pub. This book excels visually with absolutely beautiful photography, but the text, with its notes the relationship between the designs in the fields and sacred geometry, left something to be desired.

An excellent book, I learnt so much. I was born and live in the area of Wiltshire where these circles appear but have never seen one even though I frequently visit the sacred places where they seem to focus.

My takeaways from this book:
1. Ice circles were made besides your regular ol' crop circles.
2. Crop circles were made according to numerology and sacred geometry.

The only thing I wished this book has done was explain the differences between crop circles were made by "aliens" and human pranksters.

It is cheap and small, so it is def a good intro to the subject, but there are several aspects to the subject that were left out.
Good value for money.

What could I possibly add to this discussion? How do they happen? Aren't they just so incredibly beautiful?
Are they a hoax, technologically generated by the British Military, beaming microwave patterns in practice for some future something or other?
And what about those little balls of light that people see dashing around the fields?

It all very oddly compelling.

Beautifully confusing and enigmatic are crop circles. So many practical questions and yet, so few answers. I don't know how you can flip through a book like this and believe that englishmen with planks on their feet could be responsible. Way too much precision and sofistication. A beautiful book no matter how you see the phenomena.

Regardless of your opinion of the origins of crop circles, how could one deny their beauty whoever the "artist". I have some inspiration for some incredible dyad tattoo designs running through my head now!

I actually have the crop circle book by this guy and his wife. Beautiful photo illustrations; I don't know who makes these but they are the best land art I've seen. The one of the human face and encoded info sent into space really freaked me out!

This particular book on the subject has an awesome collection of some of the best crop circle pictures available. I bought it mostly for that, as the text is a little too 'airy fairy' for me. Tremendously fascinating subject to research, all known hoaxes aside!

I enjoyed this book. It has wonderful pictures! Some of these crop designs are breathtaking. The book discusses sacred geometry in relation to the crop circles which was fascinating.
