Questo è stato il mio primo libro in Mandarino della mia vita.

È stata una esperienza lunga e estremamente gratificante sotto ogni punto di vista. Ho iniziato con gran fatica e lentezza a Febbraio 2023 e man mano che la lettura andava (a rilento) avanti, ho notato con grande piacere che diventavo sempre più sicuro di me stesso e fluido. Questa lettura mi ha permesso di notare quanto la perseveranza e l’impegno contano nello studio di una lingua.

Riguardo al libro, una bellissima raccolta di racconti che si concentrano sulla generazione degli anni dal secondo dopoguerra agli anni 90. L’autore, famosissimo anche per aver scritto le sceneggiature di film Taiwanesi classici come City of Sadness, The Puppet master, Dust of Angels etc, crea ogni racconto con maestria tanto da rendere l’esperienza di lettura simile a guardare dei short films ma densi di significati. In questi racconti si trovano soprattutto le classi sociali più basse del Taiwan di quegli anni (minatori, prostitute, operai etc) e questo rende molto realistica la lettura e la scoperta di un ambiente e di un’epoca non sempre al centro dell’attenzione pubblica.

Libro consigliatissimo a chi vuole approcciarsi alla sua prima lettura in mandarino.

想直接擷取我寒假作業寫的心得上來（真的沒時間重寫了，雖然現在看起來好做作）：

本書由許多小篇章結合而成，在序言寫到聊身邊周遭的人發生的事情是他們在片場的一個社交方式，所以總會有各式各樣的故事可以說。閱讀本書讓我感受到「故事」是可以從生活的小事情抓出，即便不是非常明顯有衝突的事件，也能組織成動人的故事。書中的故事大部分都是非常貼近生活的事件，也和台灣人過去的歷史經歷有關，除了能看到以前人的生活情形和他們各式的生命故事外，也能更了解台灣的歷史過往和台灣人生活的樣貌。當然，書中還是有很多讀到令我難以下飯的情節，而我在驚訝的同時，也覺得可能是自己還年輕且住在大城市裡，才幸運沒有遇到那種事情發生（是幸運呢？還是不幸少了這些寶貴的生命經驗？）。
 
作為一位編劇，我們必須去發掘平常人不會注意到的生活細節，有時候在看電影的時候，看到那些編劇能寫出那麼貼切，又是一般人不會馬上想到的互動或對話情節，都會感到非常驚艷。本書讀到一半的時候，我也開始想要提筆寫下自己的生命故事，但打開電腦空白的文件，卻又一個字也寫不出來。從此我對自己期許，要養成隨時提筆、想到就先打在手機或寫在筆記本裡的習慣，將自己獨特的生命經驗寫下來，編織自己的人生故事。

Plainly written and in a simple and honest mood,Wu Nien-Jen tells of stories of his memory, some of which his own, some of which he hears from others. When reading these essays, you feel like an old friend at his late years is recounting what he has went through in his youth-encounters, partings, happiness, sorrow-with no regrets, no complaints, but only relief and serenity.

早見識過作者說故事的功力的，在他還沒那麼「火紅」、當我還在過著翹課成性的大學生涯時，就在學校圖書館看過他的小說「特別的一天」。所以，當好朋友借我這書，期許充滿「輕鬆、光明、沒有負擔」筆調的這本書，可以成功使我遠離那些謀殺、偵探小說，不會再無意間墮入灰色空間而無法樂觀面對自己人生時，我是喜孜孜地接受她的好意的。

作者的筆力從來沒讓人失望過，這本書有的是直白寫著自己的家族故事，有些雖用第三人稱，或者是換個主角的名字，但還是清楚知道作者寫的是自己的爸爸、媽媽、弟弟的故事。另外，是那個沒落的山城的人物，當兵時遇到的人物，大概還有朋友的，朋友的朋友的故事。

奇怪，也不過就薄薄兩百頁，印刷也沒多擁擠，但還是看了三個晚上。嗯！分心的事情太多，感動成了片段集結。闔上書，就只記得，啊！好故事。

震動的心弦，放下書，就停了。

現在可能只有台灣作家還會寫這樣的文字，平淡中暗含著波濤洶湧。最喜歡《思念》和《寂寞》這兩篇。《思念》裏每個人都那麽美好，美好的讓人想要落淚。

這本書篇篇你都可以感受到吳念真的「真情」，我跟作者年代差這麼多，都能感受到屬於那個年代的味道。我印象最深刻的是〈遺書〉這一篇，幾乎讓我淚水在眼眶打轉了，流露出了到他對大弟的不捨、無奈。後來又知道原來作者經歷了很多家庭成員自殺，心中應該是五味雜陳的吧。另外〈老山高麗足五兩〉、〈長夢〉這兩篇的轉折，實在是太爆笑了。這本書裡作者寫了過往的一些故事、聽聞，有哭有笑，這本書也不厚，不用幾小時都能讀完了。推薦給大家，值得一讀。

多麽質樸而飽含情感的文字！原來最深沈的悲傷，用平淡的敘述，最能使人會意。吳念真的文字天然去雕飾，但字字打進心坎，就算是不同世代的讀者，相信也能借此找到慰藉或是共鳴。這本書並不澎湃激昂，但我總覺它蘊藏的人生歷練豐富，壯烈無比，讀來讓人為之震盪，久久不能平復。
