Rate this book
A chilling chronicle of the crimes and betrayals of some of Australia’s own police, Snouts in the Trough gives the details of notorious rogue cops who stand charged with the ultimate form of police corruption, shielding their crimes behind their badges. Fraser is outspoken regarding the corruption in Australia’s justice system. Through his career in criminal law he was aware of some of the worst of corruption in the system, but as an insider in prison he experienced it firsthand. This book will blow the lid off the hidden world behind sections of Australian policing.

police corruption - interesting topic but the story had a tendency to jump back from the authors experience in jail and his feelings back to the main story of Malcolm the cop at the centre of it all.

I expect a certain amount of movement and co-oberation in a story from each player but this one just did my head in at times.

Basically it was a simple story of corruption that was honestly made more complex than it needed to be by the writing.

I am an avid trime crime reader and while the content was definately there along with an interesting "reverlation" that has confirmed a long believed rumour, I still found the book for me slightly less engaging to read. I struggled at times to pick it up and try to finish it.

I purchased this book over 10 yrs ago and aligned with the perth mint swindle and angels of death. It gives you an incredible insight as to the truly corrupt patches were and police in Australia still have to prove themselves to this country. Great giggle but read the perth mint swindle books first then angels of death the worldwide globalization of the hells angels and there is Ora Banda and if you joke with a joker the jokes on you. Then read snouts last and you ll have a huge giggle that police were so busy trying to catch the criminals and get their informants to sell meth with police buying the ingredients to make it from all hells angels owned companies and the badge and uniform is more corrupt than we are. judges are pedophiles and police murder criminals. But it takes the 1% of true men of value who took them on and No the jokers did not blow up don hancock his own got rid of him or did they. He was shooting at sid reid at ora banda to silence his infformant permanently but missed and boom one less snout in the trough blown to kingdom come. dont just enjoy this amazing book. the ones mentioned all link history and I know i was a witness to the truth. Thankyou Andrew Frazer

Im on the fence about this one, the stories in the book are shocking enough, but the author seems to trip over himself to crow bar them all in.

Pausing stories constantly so we can get an anectdote and then coming back later is very jarring, although to be honest I dont know how else it could be done with this structure.

Although its framed as a story about detective Rosenes, a story about police corruption would be more accurate rather than being about one individual, as the number of stories almost makes him a source more than subject.

Im not sure why it was banned, although I find it odd that a certain Ivan is mentioned in this book (published 2010), Strathorn redirects the investigation, and then Ivan Tesic is charged in 2014. Are these one and the same?

Could this actually have contained information on open investigations? But I guess by the very nature of the corruption and number of unsolved murders, everything in a sense is still an open investigation..

Its served a purpose in making me want to dig deeper into Australia's organised crime.

Insane and scary stories of police corruption, seemed written in a hurry and could've benefited from some more editing. The author occasionally adds their own unnecessary tirades and opinions and this detracts from the book. The stories and facts speak for themselves.

Amazing chronicle of deceit and total lack of ethics amongst some members of the Victorian Police - sadly there are most likely still some officers who are still carrying on these illegal activities. Hope there are not very many of them.
