"You live in the neighborhood, you die in the neighborhood." Well, Susan has other plans. To make it out; to make her dream come true. Only she’ll have to do it in secret. And when she meets a kind stranger in the woods, she thinks she's found her way. But has she? Or does this stranger have other plans for her? Plans for a lifestyle she'll have to keep secret or risk losing her family forever?
I read "The Asking" by Charles Timm and I was so impressed with his collection of short stories, that I had to read his next book, "Assumptions". "Assumptions" is a masterfully crafted short novel that reminds me of Hemingway. With raw sensibility and a purely classical writing style, the author captures the struggle of Susan, a twenty year old girl, to leave the obscure home town and follow her big dreams. The story develops fast, improved gradually with suspense and mystery, and the author keeps it very interesting until the end. I was overwhelmed by the empathy I felt for Susan. Congratulations to the author and waiting for his next book!
