Shelby Goudy needed a wife who would oversee his household and chores, and that was all he wanted when he sent out a missive for a mail-order bride. When the pretty, strong-willed Patricia Jones arrived at his rickety property, he knew he was in for a long ride. But with time, he realized that Patricia had more to her than the expensive fabric and velvet bonnet she donned.
There’s no future in Boston for Patricia Jones, who seeks to break the norm and pursue a career in veterinary medicine—but out West in Butte, Montana, she can start afresh by being a mail-order bride to a veterinarian. It was the perfect plan, and nothing could go wrong, or could it?
With Patricia and Shelby trying to navigate their marriage and avoid contention, they are caught in a web of their own deception, decades-old rivalry, and a love story that is art in itself.
This is short sweet mail order bride tale. Shelby is a small town veterinarian and Patricia is an upper class girl from Boston with an education and father that was a schooled veterinarian. She wanted with all that she was to be a real vet to have her own office to treat animals, but since she was female she was expected to marry well and be a cook, house cleaner and bare children. She decides, with her sisters help to find a veterinary in the west that is in need of a wife and she could be his assistant. You will enjoy discovering if she is able to accomplish her task. Fun book.
Kat Lynne delivers a lovely story for any age. Patricia is past the age most girls seek marriage but she's married to her dream to be a veterinary doctor. Very unsuitable for a young lady, A Bostonian! But she doesn't want to marry a man her grandfather's age. Thankfully Patricia has a sister with all the answers. What could go wrong? Kat Lynne takes the reader on a journey to meet a cranky father-in-law, an overworked vet and a prim Bostonian in a muddy Montana town. She can't cook but will her love of animals be enough to melt her Shelby's heart? I can easily recommend this as an entertaining, wholesome, clean and sweet romance.
This was a fairly quick read. A clean & creative mail order bride book. The story was nice, but in some ways extremely superficial. The biggest example is the main character wants to be a vet. She helps her father, but he wants her to marry a traditional man of the time period. Something very important was revealed towards the end of the book, which changed everything. Or it meant more to this reader.
This is a good story I love reading how women had to fight more or less to be able to do what men can do and I love the men who support them. It has great characters and a great storyline.
What Patricia and Shelby want is as different as night and day. What they end up with seems to be wrong, but they soon find out it is exactly what they each needed.
The story was simple to follow along to and had a great arc for being such a quick read! If you’re looking for a good pallet cleansing book between reads I recommend giving Partner Bride a shot!
