This book lowkey infuriated me. When I tell you the premise was SO INTRESTING. The first third was beautifully written, so intense and yet heartbreaking. The battle scenes were very well written and drew me in, only for the rest of the book to drop off a cliff like I wanted to do as I was reading. I can't stand what I view as a wasted opportunity with a really cool and inspiring true story from history written by an inexperienced author.
The idea was amazing, the execution fell flat.

Meh. Not my favorite. I was not a fan and it was very christian and very slow.

This was a very powerful and graphic book about the times and life of Godiva. The book reminds me of the stories of the Lord of the Rings in the fighting that occurs in the book.

The author lets you know Godiva as a little girl and how she is so strong and determined to do the right thing. She is a worrier but also a peace maker. Learn how and why Godiva rode a horse naked through the streets. This was a very remarkable woman who was extremely brave for her time.

4.5 stars!

After doing some geneological research and finding "THE Lady Godiva" on one of the branches of the family tree, I became really interested in her story. She's an interesting character, historically speaking, known primarily for riding naked through the streets of her town. But there is SO much more to her story. She wasn't a floosy, wanting to flaunt it all for all to see. She did it to protect the ones she loved most.

This story is simplistically written, but done well. I connected easily with the characters (especially 13-yo Godiva).

This novel is CLEAN, an book that even a teen could read. I have to say that there is some battle scenes (although Hunger Games was more violent on that front).

Godiva is the tale of a young girl who gets caught up in a war. The vikings attack England and triumph, leaving her town of Coventry destroyed. As she becomes a young women, she marries a man of power and does everything she can to help Coventry survive the brutal tax that the new king has put in place. But when the king offers Godiva a chance to save Coventry at the price of her soul, how can she accept? A brilliant story about how a women's trust in God can help her accomplish anything. Well-written and worth reading.

David Rose does a good job of exploring a character giving a dynamic back story to a rather vague historical woman that is said to have had a rather large impact. It is so often that women in history are glossed over if not completely disregarded. The writing is well done and the book is a real page turner. I am only sad that after so many years he has never added to the Viking Saga making this a stand alone.

One of the most awful books I've ever read. Just because someone is innocent and pure doesn't mean they don't understand evil. The author made innocence some across like cluelessness, not as something powerful that could overcome evil.

I forced myself to finish this book! The story of Godiva is a good one, but the style of this book bored me to tears!!! It was far too goody, goody for my taste. Would only recommend this book to people who like sappy sweet stories!

Great book about a great person! This author researched the historical Lady Godiva and presents a deeply spiritual woman who did the unthinkable to save her people.

Not sure how accurate it is. It was written by a television producer. But at least I know the story now. Easy to read.

Love this book. I love that takes a real woman in history, details her life and struggles and shows how she remains faithful to God and herself through it all.

This book was really hard to engage in. So many times I wanted to just give up on it. About halfway through the pace picked up and I enjoyed the last half of the story.
