A single phone call changes the perfectly-balanced V-relationship husbands Elliott and Luc, and Luc’s Dom/boyfriend, Leo, have maintained for years. If they’re brave enough to take the chance, they could build something even stronger for all of them together.
Elliott thrives on routine: teaching college literature, caring for his dogs, and unconditionally loving his husband, Luc. Whether that means building a recording studio for Luc’s burgeoning career as a pet care influencer or supporting Luc’s love for his Dom, Elliott is there for him no matter what.
Luc is the luckiest man in the world. His pet care YouTube channel is poised to launch into a real career, Elliott gives him the solid foundation he needs, and Leo provides the domination and structure he craves. Wherever the winds of fame take him, he’s secure in the knowledge that both his husband and his lover will be his wings.
Leo knows no one would look at his wheelchair and think “Dom,” but frankly, he doesn’t care. He survived the accident that paralyzed him, as well as a health crisis that almost killed him, and his reward is Luc, kneeling at his feet in complete devotion and perfect submission.
These three men have balanced work, home, love, and play in an open and consensual V-relationship for several years…until a single phone call rocks their world. Once the shock wears off, the new dynamic between them could destroy everything or build something stronger if they’re brave enough to take the chance.
Notes: Love Comes in Threes is an emotional, somewhat angsty MMM romance featuring a consensual V-relationship (i.e., no cheating), and an HEA for all three men. It contains a Dom on wheels, Really Big Floofy Dogs, and mouthwatering Greek pastries, as well as light kink and a D/s relationship.
it definitely didn’t expect this book to be so sweet, even if it has some serious thematics in it.
All three MCs worked out so well and I loved to read how Leo’s and Elliott‘s dynamic slowly formed into more. I adored the D/s relationship between Leo and Luc and how it slowly but steady opened Elliott’s horizon as well, even if he didn’t wanted to be involved into that Typ of dynamic in the beging because it wasn’t to his taste.
But as Elliott came around and fell in love with Leo and Leo with him it turned their works upside down and the result was beautiful I adored how Leo and Elliott cherished and deeply cared for each other, they both were so utterly romantic . And as Elliot slowly got more involved into Leo’s and Luc D/s dynamic it made things for them even better, Elliott didn’t took a role as a Dom or sub in it, but he always supported Leo in the dynamic and helped him out when it came to Luc. And so were those three finally together as Luc always wished for.
„I want you in me, Leo,” he whispered, his voice hoarse from desire.“I can’t. Not without help. You know this,” Leo whispered back. And then, Elliott spread his legs, bringing the free one to his chest to expose his hole to Leo’s gaze. He found the dildo in the covers and held it out to Leo. “Yes, you can. I want your mouth on me and your hand controlling this in my body. It will be you, Leo, in me, on me, loving me.” He thrust his hips up so his cock brushed Leo’s mouth.
And Elliott and Luc were absolute amazing when it came to take care of Leo with his cancer remission, but even without it, they never really treated leo different because of his wheelchair and I loved that. They let him have his independence what was really important to him.
They sex scene between those three and between two of them were really sensual and full of love and heat, it was beautifully written. And so were Leo and Lucs D/s scenes, I really adored reading about them. But outside of those scenes it was also really beautiful to witness Leo’s and Lucs Dom/boy dynamic.
I also have to say I really cherished the epilogue, it was really touching.
This had some really great things and some not so much. Really unique dynamic, one I’ve not come across before and that’s saying something. It was just really heavy on the internal dialogue and I kept confusing Luc and Leo because their names are so similar. All the way until the end I had to pause and remind myself who is who.
For potential readers, TW for an MC battling cancer on page in real time.
I still enjoyed reading their story and love me well done poly dynamics.
I have happy tears in my eyes upon finishing this book. It was simply perfection. I loved how unique each of the three men were, and how unique each relationship within the whole was. Every little detail in every aspect of their lives was thought through, but there was no feel of info-dumping at all. I've heard other reviewers talking about books where every s*x scene has a purpose to the story, and i think this is one of the first times that I've thought that without prompting. Each and every one, bdsm or not, was meaningful, gorgeous, and of course hot as hell. Man. I'll be thinking about this one for a long time!
I received an advance copy in exchange for this honest review.
5 stars I dind't expect for this book to be so sweet. i hadn't read it yet because I'm not fond of the Dom/sub dynamic, but after reading Might Delete Later. I needed to know more about Luc and Elliott.
Obviously, the D/s dynamic has a large space in this book, involving two of the MCs and I was curious to see how Elliott would fit. The result is absolutely beautiful and I love how Leo and Elliott cherished and cared for each other, they're both very romantic. I also loved that Leo was comfortable in a kind of relationship that didn't include dominance (the first time they had intimacy together without Luc present was very heartwarming). The three of them have a well balanced relationship, where all their needs are met. The epilogue was amazing, I liked very much the choices thay made.
I really hate that I disliked this as it seemed to be something right up my alley from the blurb. For the majority of the story I was sitting at a 3.5/4 rating until I realized we weren’t getting anything of substance. All the important conversations, relationship building, angsty moments happened off book. The story jumped around too much and we were inevitably left with snapshots of incessant internal monologues and repetitive thoughts between all three characters, almost like we were just peaking in on their lives.
What ultimately lowered my rating to a 2 was due to how the story just ends abruptly and we’re suddenly thrown into an epilogue a year later. Based on how obviously Leo wanted a physical marker balancing him in Elliot’s and Luc’s marriage, I find it really surprising he waited an entire year before taking the next step.
The good + Their functional and healthy V-relationship + Good communication + Elliott and Leo getting to know each other + The different needs they could fulfill for each other + Elliott carrying Leo just like he did Luc after their wedding + Elliott having no doubts he'd take both of his partners with him to the next work event + Leo's particular brand of dominance + Elliott getting flowers for his men + Their cheesy at the end
The neutral o I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. My review remains honest and unbiased o I wanted to see Professor Porter and his two partners at a work event, or even better, showing their relationship to his students. Elliott mentioned it in passing, and now I feel like I missed out
The bad - Some things were mentioned and then dropped without a conclusion. For example, was a pretty significant event, but there was no satisfying conclusion or even another mention of it later. Luc also kept mentioning training a service dog (which didn't seem necessary to me, as Leo did well without one), but his plan never came to fruition - Many chapters started with a time skip of several weeks. I understand a lot of time needed to be covered throughout the book, but sometimes it felt like weeks passed at a pretty significant point in their relationship - The names Luc and Leo look very much alike, which made reading this story just a bit more difficult
Quotes x They were his, and he was theirs, and he was never letting either of these men go because he needed them like he needed air to breathe. x The more you share love, the more it grows. Love is infinite.
I really enjoyed this depiction of a healthy V-relationship. It was almost a pity that the end game was a closed triad, but these men fit so well together that it just worked. I also really enjoyed how much they were there for each other during the hard times. I would definitely recommend this book.
I really enjoyed this story - there were some great dynamics and the characters had a lot of chemistry with each other!
I have to admit it took me a bit to get into the story and the characters, it felt a bit heavy with information at the beginning, but once I got into it things got interesting! I adored the relationships Leo, Luc and Elliott had and how they developed through the story, it was very clear that they all had a lot of chemistry and cared for each other. It was also refreshing to read about a V-relationship that worked for everyone involved, and how it somehow turned into a solid ground for something more to develop from.
I liked that the characters were a bit older and more mature, even if Luc could be a brat at times. The characters communicated well with each other and there was no unnecessary drama. It was however obvious that Luc needed the D/s dynamic in order to find balance in his life, and how it affected him when Leo couldn't do scenes with him like they used to. There were some scenes in the story, but they were pretty mild which fit the story and Leo's limitations during his treatments. I liked how they all found out new things about themselves, as well as their partners, as their new relationship took form and the way they reflected over their dynamics and the changes that happened around them.
Love Comes in Threes was a well written and researched story, the way Leo's disability and illness was written seemed realistic to me. There were so much respect and support in their story and I loved the open communication and connection between all three men. I recommend this one if you enjoy books with a lot of relationship development, hurt/comfort and some kink!
People are really sleeping on Sinclair as an Indie MM romance author. I've read 2 works of theirs and have been blown away by both. They have diverse representation, are well researched, excellent writing and great characters.
This book, about a V shaped trio becoming a triad had angst, but not the expected verity, which i really enjoyed as whole i like triad stores, they become a bjt same-y for how everyone gets together and the angst in getting to the HEA setup.
I'm a suckered for MMM romances, and this story certainly fit the bill. What started as a V relationship (with Elliott at the center point) becomes a true equal partnership between Elliott, Leo, and Luc.
Kindle, own, contemporary, menage, disability (wheelchair), cancer treatment, dogs
2.5 stars - This book starts out great and I really enjoyed the initial relationship dynamics and watching Elliott and Leo develop a relationship. But the longer the book went on the more frustrating it became evident that anytime there is a conflict that we won't actually see a resolution on page. I feel like the book overall could have benefited from a development editor. Because at the end, for such a relatively long book, by the end we still know very little about certain aspects and then other things like internal monologues about feelings are repeated time and time again. Weird things are focused on like the dog breeds and what chew treats they like, but not once is it ever mentioned what type of cancer Leo has, about his first experience with cancer at such a young age etc. Hell it isn't until 95% in that we learn Leo still has hair after his chemo even though I've been picturing him bald all book and just seems like such a strange thing to omit, like the author purposely avoided mentioning it.
My two biggest complaints were firstly the lack of resolution after Luc blows up and basically throws a tantrum telling Leo he's being a shitty Dom because he hasn't beat his ass lately. And he tells him this as Leo is literally throwing up from chemo. Not only does this portray Luc as a child and kind of paints brats in a less than favourable light, I refuse to believe Leo wouldn't have laid down the fucking law after that kind of disrespect to his role. I hated that it was emphasized several times how badly they needed to have a conversation about it, only to skip over the actual dialogue altogether.
Then there's the fact that the relationship is painted as an equal triad, when in reality I feel like Luc has been pushed out of both his relationships. At the end, I would not have been at all surprised if Elliott and Leo decided they didn't need Luc. Neither of them particularly seem interested in Luc or his iantics
A single phone call changes the perfectly balanced V-relationship between husbands Elliott and Luc and Luc's Dom/boyfriend Leo. Elliott thrives on routine as he teaches college literature, taking care of their two dogs and unconditionally loving his husband Luc which could be building a studio for this burgeoning career as a pet care influencer or supporting Luc's love for his Dom. Luc is the luckiest man as his pet care YouTube channel is about to launch into a real career with Elliott giving him the solid foundation he needs and Leo giving him the domination and structure he craves. He’s secure in the knowledge that both his husband and his lover will be his wings. Leo knows no one would look at his wheelchair and think that he was a Dom but having served an accident which paralyzed him and a health crisis which almost killed him he has Luc kneeling at his feet it complete devotion and perfect submission. Having kept the balance perfect for several years everything changes after the phone call. Now they have a new dynamic which could destroy everything or build something so much better if they are brave enough to take the chance.
I enjoyed this story with all the emotions involved and the way that they developed, were handled between the three of them and how they worked out an adult way to handle everything. This proved frequently how important communication was between them and how it really was the key to making everything work. I loved that there was a character who was in a wheelchair and that they were so good at giving him as much independence as he wanted but were there to support him whenever he needed and asked for help. Easy to read, feel and understand. This is an MMM story with a BSDM-like D/s relationship including sensation play and a consensual V -relationship.
I’m smiling even though I’ve finished this book and I think it’s one that is going to stick with me for quite a while. Marie Sinclair is definitely as good at pulling at the heart strings as she is at plotting and planning. Triad and up relationships require a darn sight more working out to be successful than a traditional one does and that applies as much in writing it as it would in living it. This book succeeds in the writing and the relationship sense as Elliot, Luc and Leo work through not only their relationship but real life with all of the complications it entails. As a person with a disability I especially like that Ms. Sinclair has written her Dom Leo as the one who is in a wheelchair. Not only does this show how disabled people can be sexual, it illustrates that they can be Doms as well. Even though I’m not in a wheelchair it makes me feel seen when writers introduce characters who have what people like to call “challenges”. Yes we have challenges but we still have the same needs as anyone else. On the other hand Ms. Sinclair doesn’t sugar coat the extra effort it takes sometimes or the problems that can come up. One of my favorite places in the book is where Leo thinks “I will not crush on my boyfriend’s husband” which I must admit is not a sentence I thought I would enjoy nearly as much as I did. I hope that I have conveyed my enjoyment of this book and I definitely recommend it.
Wow, what a book. There is always something so special in MMM+ stories; it's just the sincere honesty that makes them so beautifully intimate. They seem to reach intimate levels that a couple relationship doesn't quite reach. This story starts off with three men in a vee triad relationship. The pairings are kept seperate and then circumstances change. This story isn't particularly angsty but there are issues with illness and complications within the triad to work out. Once boundaries and feelings are discussed we end up with a throuple story and their journey continues along a different path that it started. We are challenged along the way with our ableist prejudices that rightly put us in our place and I love it when a book calls me out. The three MC's all have completely different personalities and this really adds to the narrative. We don't come across many any secondary characters, just small encounters of insignificant people to this story. A book that can be so rich in narrative from only three characters is most definitely a clever author. There is a D/s aspect within the throuple and one partner is often in subspace and I felt like I am in subspace too, heading for sub-drop after finishing this book. I'm blissed out from a truly beautiful ending and will miss these men. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I've been a fan of Marie Sinclair from her first book, and her work just keeps getting better, deeper, richer...examining parts of the queer community that don't get as much representation in most mainstream MM romance.
Love Comes in Threes looks at a V relationship - a married couple where one of the MCs - Luc- is both poly and a submissive, along with the Dom he loves, Leo. At the beginning of the book, the husband who doesn't consider himself poly or into kink - Elliott - is not directly involved with the Dom, although they have a strong connection through their shared partner. When Leo, who is a paraplegic, gets the news that his cancer has returned after many years in remission, he tries to push Luc and Elliott away, but they won't have it. They and their dogs, who are as much supporting cast as any humans in the book, surround and support Leo.
The resulting story reveals the evolution of the relationship among the three of them and is surprisingly steamy given the circumstances. Each man learns about himself, and the three men grow together, though the road is not without a few bumps along the way.
These are mature relationships, with the polyamory and kink clearly defined, depicted with dignity and respect. While a book involve these themes could easily steer into melodrama, Love Comes in Threes never does.
I was curious about this after reading the blurb. It's about three men in a v relationship that they eventually decide would work as a triad. But the part I found most interesting was that one of the characters was a Dom who was partially paralyzed and used a wheelchair. I was really curious as to how that would play out, and from the notes at the back I learned that the author had a disability consultant on this one, so the descriptions of both Leo's condition and his life experiences but also what types of activities he might be capable of seemed, at least to my external eye, both realistic and sensitively portrayed.
The book isn't perfect by any means, it's more a series of short vignettes that take place over a fairly long period of time, so there are skips in the timeline, as well as plot threads that get suggested and then don't get picked up again. But as three men with different experiences and different needs decide to forge a relationship that works for all three of them (which definitely lives up to the joke that my friends in similar relationships have - that they spend much more time making sure they communicate honestly and that everyone's emotional needs are being met then they actually do having sex)
It was an enjoyable and emotionally affecting book with complex characters and of course a happy ending.
I cannot get over what a lovely book this was. The representation of a V and then triad poly relationship was so sweet and I loved it all so hard. As a person whose been in poly relationships it was a refreshing and relatable experience to read and I appreciated it so much.
I adored how unique each of the MCs were and the journeys each had throughout the story. I fell in love with all of them individually and then as a gorgeous triad. And the D/s dynamic between Leo and Luc was just a sessy icing on the cake. And a brilliant classics professor whose vocabulary diminishes when things get hot! And dogs! Even the dogs had these wonderful, unique personalities!
This review is turning into me just gushing about how much I loved this book while using way too many exclamation points. But I did, I loved it so much and now I’ll have to go read other books by Marie Sinclair because their writing style, and gorgeous descriptions were right up my alley and I’m hooked.
I liked this story a lot. It was good to see a different perspective of the BDSM lifestyle, where there is a consenting V relationship with one man in two separate relationships: one with his Dom and one with his husband. Usually the one in the non-kink lifestyle has a problem with the kink and the openness of the D/s relationship. I’ve gotta say that Elliot was a very good-hearted and lovely man to allow his husband the freedom of his relationship with his Dom and sharing his husband somewhat equally with Leo. With that said, I was surprised, yet not surprised, that their separate relationships evolved into a triad with the growing instances of Elliot and Leo spending time together separately and together with Luc. This was a beautiful story of reliance, resilience, and unconditional love between three men. These characters are amazing examples of the freedom, the pleasures, and the joys that can be found in the BDSM lifestyle. I recommend this book to anyone wanting a deeper understanding on polyamory or if you just want a good story.
I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I really enjoyed this story. I was interested in the relationship between these three men, and a Dom in a wheelchair was new for me, and I had to read it. This story didn't waste any time hooking me emotionally when Leo is told his cancer has returned and he needs to start treatments right away. I loved the initial dynamic between the three men. Elliott and Luc are married, but Luc needs submission and structure that only a Dom can provide. Elliott isn't in a BDSM lifestyle and isn't able to provide that. Leo is Luc's boyfriend and Dom. I loved that all the information was out in the open and agreed upon from the start, and neither man is jealous of the other for their individual relationships with Luc. But after the diagnosis, rather than their lives remain separate, Leo and Elliott get to know each other as Elliott steps in to help- both with Leo and in handling Luc. I loved seeing their dynamic change and their relationship deepen as Leo and Elliott's attraction to each other blossoms. I was completely hooked and loved this journey. 5 stars.
I really enjoyed this one. We have a V-relationship, which I think is the first I've read about. Elliot and Luc are married. Luc and Leo in a Dom/Sub/boyfriend relationship. Elliot and Leo are not in a relationship. Leo is paralyzed and in a wheelchair and is Luc's Dom. Leo get's a call that he wasn't expecting & is faced with his own mortality, again. I loved watching the love our boys have with each other and Elliot and Leo grow close. By the end, our boys get exactly what they all want. For the most part, I did like that they did have an open communication. Though a few times Luc wasn't always 100%. Overall it was a sweet read watching these three navigate in moving their relationships in to a loving triad.
I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews, and this is my honest opinion.
I knew when I bought this just by the title, this would be about a threesome. What I didn't expect was a loving married couple where one was poly and into BDSM. He is a sub. If I were Elliott, I may have gotten jealous. His husband got to spend night's with a lover. But they wrote the contract first...it still doesn't mean Elliott wasn't lonely with only the dogs. Elliott and Leo have it right about Luc. He is a brat. Personally, listening to him I think he is super selfish. Who walks out on their lover that is vomiting to walk dogs? Leo is so strong. He has been through paralysis, cancer, and a recurrence of his cancer. He loves being Luc's Dom but to me what was special was when El and Leo fully realized there love. Filled with some erotica but not as heavy as you would think but decent. Definitely a Must Read! 10/10+
I sincerely think this is one of the best books I've read in a while. It gets heavy at times due to the issues the characters contend with, but still manages to be an amazing love story. It's such a different take on an MMM story, because it includes a V relationship, which isn't often seen in books. Leo also deals with some legitimate medical issues, and those scenes are written beautifully, with no glossing over his condition, and with such sensitivity that you just feel drawn into their world. I appreciate the fact that Luc and Leo's D/s relationship enlarges enough to bring Elliot in, but still keeps his consent at the forefront. Even if MMM isn't normally your thing, I highly encourage you to read this story!
Interesting. Husbands Elliott and Luc have a solid loving relationship. Elliott is secure in his marriage and love for Luc and supports Luc's relationship with his dom boyfriend, Leo. Luc, appreciates the support and backing Elliott gives him for his pet care business. Leo provides the structure he needs. Leo, is secure and independent appreciating life and surviving the crash that left him in a wheelchair. Elliott and Leo have an agreement over how they support Luc's needs and don't know each other very well. Then Leo has a health crisis and the relationship dynamics change. They all get to know each other in unexpected challenging ways. Nice story. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I loved Love Comes in Threes, Luc, Leo and Elliott were wonderful characters to get to know and I really loved the connection that the three of them formed.
I don't think I've read about a V relationship before, so that was an interesting concept, and I enjoyed seeing how it worked. I loved the love, respect and trust that each of the men had for each other. When Elliott and Leo realise that they might have a connection that they want to explore, it opens up all of their relationships to something new. I loved how Leo's connection with Elliott allowed him the opportunity to learn about other aspects of himself he hadn't previously explored or experienced, believing that what he got from being a Dom was all he wanted or needed before this. Seeing Leo, a Dom in a wheelchair was another aspect of this novel I enjoyed, it is rare to see people with disabilities portrayed in romance, let alone as a Dom, and Leo made a great Dom to Luc.
The love and support Leo got from Luc and Elliott when he is faced with his cancer returning was a really lovely thing to see, and the catalyst for the changes that happened for them all. What was a terrible thing to deal with resulted in the best thing to happen to them all. This novel had my emotions working overtime and I didn't want to put it down.
Told from all 3 POVs, Love Comes in Threes takes an emotional event and makes it a catalyst for a well-balanced V relationship to become a closed triad... I love that Marie Sinclair takes us on an emotional journey where we learn more about all three men in the relationships and we also see what brings them together and can potentially tear them apart...
I really enjoyed the D/s relationship and the broadening of all of their horizons... I would have loved to have seen more in the epilogue about them living their daily lives together, but I can always hope for a holiday short featuring these three amazing characters (and of course the dogs)
This is the first book that I’ve read about a V-relationship, and I loved it. Luc, Elliott and Leo have been in a well-balanced V relationship for a few years when Leo receives some bad news, and everything changes. I loved watching these three amazing men draw closer together as they supported each other through this difficult time, especially the slow shift as the two separate relationships evolved and became one. This was a sweet, emotional story with angst, heat and some kink, and I loved it from the first page to the satisfying epilogue. Highly recommended. I received a copy of this book from GRR to review, and this is my honest and voluntary opinion.
Ms. Sinclair is a new author to me. This will definitely not be the last book I read of hers. I have read MM for many years but I think this is the first book where it was about a committed "V" relationship. Oh I have definitely read MM+ but this was different. It was great to meet these three men and watch their relationship grow into something even better. Also the care Ms. Sinclair took writing Leo's character as a loving, dominant man who happened to have a disability was amazing. Elliit and Luc showed what a mature loving relationship could be. I highly recommend this book. Enjoy!
Love Comes In Threes by Marie Sinclair is an adorable story of 3 men growing closer amidst a health scare. I really enjoyed the exploration of a Dom/Sub dynamic with both a disabled Dom and a Sub married to someone else.
In this you'll find: 🌈 MMM contemporary romance with spice 🌈 A poly V becoming a triad 🌈 BDSM with a D/S dynamic + sensory & impact play 🌈 A disabled Dom 🌈 A college professor who starts off thinking he's not kinky 🌈 A Submissive vet nurse turned influencer 🌈 Cancer diagnosis & treatment 🌈 Paraplegia from a car crash 🌈 Anxiety 🌈 Some ableism 🌈 2 adorable dogs 🌈 A HEA
Love Comes in Threes is an emotional, somewhat angsty MMM romance featuring a consensual V-relationship (i.e., no cheating), and an HEA for all three men. It contains a Dom on wheels, Really Big Floofy Dogs, and mouth-watering Greek pastries, as well as light kink and a D/s relationship.
5/5 * 3/5 spice
Well what can i say about this story? I loved it!
Its definitely not my normal kind of read, I prefer pitch black smut. This was a heart-warming story. The story revolves around Luc, Elliott and Leo. We read the story evolving from a V to a triangle. MM and MMM scenes.
I star bc I like Elliott. I was about to dnf the book buh I wanted to justify my 1 star and I skimmed. I was going to give it a 2 stars when I started it buh it got boring as if the author is trying to force things idk and maybe bc I dint really like 3 person pov, it felt like I'm reading same person with different names...like they don't have personalities, all we know is luc is a brat and sub, elliot has accent, and leo has cancer and is dom. And the smut is just mehh...wasn't what I expected and 1 fucking year later??? (I was happy the book was finally coming to an end) buh common Dint feel the chemistry
I can't believe I let this sit on my TBR for ever. Had I known what I know now after devouring this book I would've read it sooner. I love the dynamic between all of them. What they all bring to the relationship as a whole. There wasn't just smut for the smut of it. It all felt sensual and loving. I was actually blushing from just being able to witness something so pure. It opened my eyes to how non-abled bodies can make it work. And still be beautiful. And I haven't ugly cried so bad in an epilogue in for ever. It was amazing. I would love if one day there's an audiobook for this cause it would be epic. 😍😍😍
