My son is entering pre-K and I am intensely curious as to what he will be covering in the Montessori curriculum in the years ahead. This book was a delight to read and made me yearn to go through school again, albeit this time with me paying attention.

Gives some interesting historical context which I think explains the shift in thinking that Dr. Montessori makes between the primary and elementary levels. Offers an extensive reference list of Montessori elementary materials, including citations of Montessori's two main works as well as some of her lectures. However, be forewarned that the authors take intellectual leaps with which Montessori would not agree, and which I found disturbing.

Provides the reasoning for the scope and sequence of culture lessons, with attention to the role of the teacher, the role of the student, the way to combine story and study, with a constant grounding in the purpose of Culture Studies--to help the child ground himself, to help her answer the questions, "Who Am I?" "What is My Purpose?"

I really appreciated the layout of the Cosmic Education in such a clear way. A definite must read for every Montessori professional.
