Holy moly, this story is good. I read Snake’s story first, and loved it, so had to go back and read Phoenix’s story. So glad I did. This is a heart string tugger, so full of angst and heartbreak. But it is also full on action. I actually cried while reading this one, Phoenix is such a lost sole to begin with, until Wren comes into his life. I might need a day before continuing this series, these bad boys are bringing me undone

'Phoenix' is the first book in Piper Stone's new "Missoula Bad Boys" series and I can't even begin to tell you about the storyline except to say, it starts a little slower than I'm used to but once it picks up, HANG ON! This is a smoking hot, edge-of-your-seat, who-done-it read that kept me engaged from start to finish. I can't wait for the next one.

This book is so bad. She has better books. The dialogue is forced. The characters are cheesy. The last 20% of the story is the best part and it's still quite cheesy. And the book ends at 85%. The rest is full of blurbs for her other books - not exerpts.
I don't recommend this author but if you are stuck on trying her work, I'd recommend a different one.

This is the first book in a trilogy of stories by Piper Stone...This is an age gap,fake dating romance.
We meet our first Missoula Bad boy in this story Ex Marine and now Smokejumper Riggs Wentworth also known now as Phoenix.
Phoenix is a troubled soul with a tragic past that haunts him he finds love in an unexpected place after fighting a fire and is on his way home.
A heavy snow storm making it almost impossible to travel ,when he sees a vehicle in trouble so goes to help but nobody is in the car...Then he sees her walking to get help in this turbulant weather.
Wren Tillman is the daughter of a very important man,she is on the road to get to her sisters wedding reluctantly.Because her father is determined to set her up with an older rich man,wanting to marry her off for his own gain.
So Wren needs to find a date for her sisters wedding to get her dad off her back..but she gets in trouble in the storm until a stranger comes to her rescue,giving her the perfect opportunity to ask him to be her fake boyfriend for the weekend.
This is a great audiobook narrated by Skyler Morgan who does a fantastic job at telling this story single handedly performing all the characters male and female.I really enjoyed listening to him and appreciated his acting skills.
Piper Stone yet again has written a very spicy,suspenseful romance that will keep you on your toes,because there is more to this story than the blossoming romance between Phoenix and Wren.
There is a past Phoenix has to lay to rest, and a string of murders to deal with too,oh and Wren's father and his demands,so Phoenix and Wren have alot to deal with...But it doesn't stop them from having sexy times.
Phoenix is so grumpy and very demanding and possessive he likes getting his own way,Wren challenges him she is strong and independent but is being controlled by her father...They fall for one another pretty quickly and their chemistry is like an inferno.
Oh and did I forget to mention Phoenix is a sexy single dad too,which he is still adjusting to being a parent...But with a past that plagues him and makes him feel guilty can he even make any relationship work or will he destroy it like he seems to destroy everything.
Full of action,steam,emotion and romance I was entertained from the beginning until the end.
This is a fabulous start to this series and I am excited for book 2,I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

I want to begin by saying that I am a fan of Piper stone. Her books are never lacking in plot or steam but Ye Gods!! This storyline is layered like a lasagna and takes some focusing on. It hurts me to give 3 stars but it is overly long and too convoluted (in my opinion) to merit more.
However, oh Phoenix you naughty, fabulous hunk. Ex marine, muscle bound, god- like putter outer of forest fires, pilot, Dominant, (the heat in this book is some of the best I've read), father, rich and completely screwed up.
Meet Wren, the beautiful, if a little lost heroine, strong, feisty, but messed up by vile parents.
Our H and h meet during an accident in a snowstorm and the electricity is palpable. The steam here is enough to power your lightbulbs.
Both characters are relatable,Phoenix's Dominance was hot, hot, hot. Could be a trigger for some but never for me. The writing is steady as you'd expect from this author.
So what went wrong for me? Well, as mentioned, the over complexity of the plot and I almost never say that - I'm often searching for a plot! There were so many events happening that I started to lose my focus and therefore interest. I found myself skimming and I'm not happy at myself for saying that.
Nothing I've said here detracts from the fact that I like this author's writing and I will keep the faith going forward and I will happily read any further in the series. I am just sad I couldn't rate it higher. However the steamy scenes, in my view, are 5 star all the way.

This is a wonderful heartfelt read, written so well I cannot wait for future books

Wren is a smart and capable financial advisor, whose father has a powerful government position. Her family is incredibly controlling and for years she’s been fiercely fighting for independence from them. She gets stuck in a snowstorm on the way to her sister’s wedding, and lucky for them both, Phoenix is in the right place at the right time to rescue her. One thing leads to another and by the end of the story they have really rescued one another.
There is a lot going on simultaneously in this book, and I thought the author did a good job keeping it all clear and easy to follow. Phoenix is extremely domineering in some ways, and there are multiple scenes with domestic discipline, and plenty of super steamy parts. There are secondary characters from each storyline, some of whom are certain to appear in other books in the series. The story moves fast, and so does the relationship between Phoenix and Wren. Be sure to pay attention to the trigger warnings. The story has surprising emotional depth at certain points, which was great.

Wren is on her way home for her sister's upcoming wedding when she is caught in an unexpected snow storm. Stranded she sets out on foot to find help but soon she succumbs to the weather.
Phoenix an ex-marine, ex-EMT, pilot, bad boy smokejumper and is heading home after another fire when he sees a person lying in the snow. He soon realized it's a female and she's barely alive. He feels a pull towards her that soon turns mutual. She propositions him to pretend to be her date while visiting family to keep her father from trying to set her up.
Their story has lots of behind the scenes drama, danger and secrets that plays into the overall storyline. They both have messed up rich parents who try to manipulate and control their lives. They are both jaded by life, family and their past especially Phoenix who has lost close friends that he feels responsible for. Can they work out their feelings before it's too late or will their past insecurities win in the end?
While I enjoyed their storyline there was a lot of characters and side stories to keep up within the main plot. So at times I was tempted to just skim through some of it.
Overall a decent read 4⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Part of the Missoula Bad Boys if the rest of the series is anything like this one I will be waiting for book two a sexy tough and the girl who captures his full attention. Phoenix sexy as all get out retired marine, pilot, smokejumper and a single dad heading home when he notice someone laying in the snow and the savior in him won’t allow him to just keep going so stopping to find a women barley breathing immediately he was attracted to her but saving her become his number one goal. Wren is really sweet but rebels against manipulative parents who all want to control her life, she is sassy, feisty, and full of spice when it comes to trying to live her life her way, wants to love her way not the man her parents arranged for her. So heading home for her sister’s wedding when she is rescued wakes up scared but comes down when she see he is just rescued her but the one adventure of him pretending to be her date for her sister’s wedding, dealing with her parents changes their paths in such a amazing way where they both discover the magnetic pull between them isn’t going anywhere, their attitudes towards trying to be control is a force to be reckon with but will they find what they both want love and happiness their way?.

Bad boy Phoenix meets good girl, Wren Tillman or rather he rescued her during a snow storm. When her car slid into the ditch. They had no idea for a few days that their fathers were actually enemies as by then their own chemistry had decided for them that they had a connection of certain undeniability. Phoenix had only recently returned to Montana joining the Zullies (smokejumper unit) after living in Texas for years, but he was a native to the area owning a large ranch. Wren was returning to attend her sister's wedding. There had been an unusual number of arson fires in the area for some reason most with bodies attached, all started with a new complex chemical combination requiring special skill to use. How much longer would the mystery continue with the body count on the rise and the fires still being set. The beginning of this book started a little on slow side for me, but the ending OMG was fantastic. The bond between Phoenix and Wren was unbreakable by the end. Their lives were parallel in so many ways. They just got each other on every level making the perfect couple. They may have came from money, but their lives were never easy. Edge of your chair drama.

OMG! Wow I am completely and utterly in love with this book, I had to get a handle on my self, the story had me captivated from the start, the characters were exhilarating with emotions playing at the heartstrings. Phoenix is a single dad, ex-milatary and a smokejumper, he has a bad attitude it started when he was younger him and his friends had a bad experience with fire and that has haunted him ever since. Wren moved away from home as soon as possible hating her parents thinking they can tell her what to do, and even had a husband picked out for her, so her going home for a couple of days was for her sister's wedding rehearsal, Wren told her parents that she will not be told what to do and especially who she can see. Phoenix saved someone from the snow and took them to a hotel to get them out of the snow, when the person woke up they panicked that they had been kidnapped or in someone's home and as soon as they seen the rescuer with lust in their eye's. Will it just stay as him helping her or will it go any further.

No one is more surprised than Phoenix when he finds himself agreeing to Wren’s hair-brained idea to thwart her controlling father’s plans for HER future! I loved Phoenix, I loved Wren, and I LOVED this fantastic, beautifully written, magnificently narrated story! Filled with tense action, mystery, intrigue, emotion, and beautifully complex, well developed characters, “Phoenix” successfully delivers everything I could ask for! THIS plot kept me riveted, fully engaged, breathlessly waiting for each morsel to be revealed! The tension level was divine! The suspense level perfect! I listened to the audiobook version and, overall, I enjoyed this book. There are some nice raunchy scenes, and there's actually a really interesting plot. I kind of wished there was either more of the steamy stuff or that things had been toned down a little to leave more room for exploring the story. This could easily have been a book that a broader range of romance readers would enjoy if things were toned down a little.
The narration for this was really solid. I'll be looking for more listens from Skyler Morgan. I usually prefer dual narrators when a story alternates perspectives between characters, but he did just fine with both parts here.
NOTE: While I've got a pretty broad range of tastes when it comes to romance/erotica and I'm open to some pretty rough and intense stuff, I do generally prefer that all the action is consensual unless something in the plotline requires force/lack of consent. The narration for this was really solid. I'll be looking for more listens from Skyler Morgan. I usually prefer dual narrators when a story alternates perspectives between characters, but he did just fine with both parts here.
NOTE: While I've got a pretty broad range of tastes when it comes to romance/erotica and I'm open to some pretty rough and intense stuff, I do generally prefer that all the action is consensual unless something in the plotline requires force/lack of consent. It was very hard for me to put this book down once I started reading it. Phoenix is a smokejumper who got into some trouble in his youth with some of his friends. Because of a tragedy that had occurred years before, Phoenix vowed to never get into a relationship again. He felt he did not deserve to be happy. Wren is a sassy, feisty young woman whose family is a little deranged in my opinion. She does everything she can to go against her parents, but when it comes to her sister, she will do anything for her. She is on her way home for her sister’s wedding when she is in an accident. Fortunately for her, Phoenix comes along and is instantly drawn to her.
Come to find out, their father’s use to be friends, but are now enemies. Someone seems to be targeting a few ranches in the area and come after Wren and Phoenix. Full of steamy scenes, suspense, chemistry, secrets, deception, and great characters. Looking forward to reading more in this series. Phoenix is on his way home from a smokejumpers mission when he finds Wren Tillman who has broken down in the snow and trying to walk to the next town in a snowstorm. He rescues her but when she wakes up, she is spooked by a man smelling of smoke with an axe and rope in his bag. Phoenix convinces her that she is safe with him so Wren asks him if he will pretend to be her boyfriend at her sister's wedding. Her parents plan to try and marry her off to a 50 year old man and she needs protection from their pressure. He agrees but neither of them realise just how much baggage there is between their two families. And someone seems to be trying to threaten Phoenix.
I really enjoyed these characters. I loved Wren and how she helped Phoenix with his PTSD.

I’m not going to lie at the beginning of this book I thought it was boring but as I continue to read and the two main characters met it became very interesting and funny as heck! It’s very steamy with a lot of mystery going on in between with some other characters like her parents I wanted to punch in the face among other people too! There is in my opinion some tearjerker moments but over all a amazing fun read with a cute little boy. The both have hard life but together they are perfect together with both being strong willed and very stubborn what could go wrong 😂 I for one love how this book turn out and want very much to read more with this very bossy man and confident sassy woman!! They are a keeper for sure and very entertaining to say the least!!.

I love reading a Piper Stone story as she always delivers a great story. Phoenix and Wren happen to meet when Wren i walking to the next town in a snowstorm because her car broke down. Phoenix is a smokejumper and he rescues Wren from his mission and takes her home. I love how their relationship develops and their chemistry is so hot. Phoenix has a dominant personality and Wren is stubborn and independent. The love the storyline with lots of drama, danger, spankings, and intense steam. There is lots of emotions with Phoenix and Wren's were two souls that find each other, find love and family. Another outstanding story. Looking forward to Snake.

Piper Stone has done it again! When ex-marine , single dad, bad boy, and smokejumper Phoenix rescues good girl, Wren when she is stuck in a snowstorm, sparks fly. Wren is tired of her family trying to manipulate and control everything, especially arranging her love life. So when she is rescued by the hot Phoenix, he becomes her "date" for her sister's wedding. These two are really well written, compelling characters, the chemistry is hot. The book is full of sizzle, steam, some twists, drama, and some turns. This is book 1 in a new series Missoula Bad Boy, and is currently available on Kindle Unlimited. Solid 5 star read!!.

Phoenix: A Rough Romance by Piper Stone is book one in the Missoula Bad Boys series. This book is a stand alone, single Dad romance that is told in both POVs and has a HEA.
Phoenix is out of the Marines and is a Smokejumper and a single Dad. Wren is the oldest daughter of a US Congressman, her family is trying to marry her off to secure their wealth and standing. As Wren is driving to her sisters wedding, she gets stuck in a snowstorm and is rescued by Phoenix.
Wren and Phoenix have great chemistry. Their scenes together were scorching and at times very sweet. I enjoyed this story, there was action, suspense, some humor and character growth.

Loved the narration of Skyler Morgan. He can bring out the heat, suspense and action. Perfect narration to listen to.

I really enjoyed this Piper Stone book. Wren is willful and determined to do the opposite of what her parents want. Phoenix has been living by the seat of his pants for quite a while. Phoenix rescues her from the side of the road in near blizzard conditions and these two don't get much opportunity to be apart. They both are embroiled in a mystery and repairing their hearts. Great read and lots of heat.

First book in a new series and WOW! Phoenix is a troubled Marine veteran and now a firefighter. During a winter storm in Montana, he comes across a woman walking in the snow near frozen. He rescues her and the fireworks begin. Wren is on his way to her sister's wedding and knows her controlling father will try to set her up with a prospective husband. In order to avoid that she asks Phoenix to be her fake boyfriend. And then more fireworks! Rough and dark but with a wonderful love story! Suspenseful back story with more fireworks! Great read!

Wren is a rebel. She moved away from her controlling parents and lives by her rules which soon become tested when she meets Phoenix. He is a Zullie who thrives on fighting the beast of fires and protecting the land. Neither are looking for love but fate intervenes.

Beautiful story!
I totally loved this book! It has a terrific story line and it is full of mystery and suspense. It will keep you on your toes trying to figure out who is doing all of the bad things and why. At the same time the characters have some awesome chemistry and some hot sexy times and some beautiful touching moments. I highly recommend reading this book!! Me, I am off to read the next book in this series.
