No Fox Given (Kira Fairwood books 1-3)
By Aimee Easterling
This has a fox shifter as the main character and that was a nice change. She is in love with a wolf shifter. The book deals with packs, relationships, loyalty, and family. There's lots of suspense and death.
It was entertaining but not extraordinary. Worth the read. I give it 3 1/2 stars, rounding up to 4 stars.

Full Moon Saloon'

If you read the Moon Marked series you will recognize that Kira is Mai's little sister. She is all grown up now and out to prove herself. It took her awhile to recognize that Mai and Gunner have been protecting her for years. Life in their pack was safe for a kitsune, unlike the larger werewolf world. Now Kira has gotten a job with the Lawkeepers, a group who keep rogue werewolves in line.

Kira has gone to the small Virginia town of Gate City to meet with a childhood friend. Charlie and her twin sister had never known about shifters as far as Kira knew, so it was a little strange when she pulled up outside of the Full Moon Saloon and could immediately scent that it was a shifter bar. Kira was a little bit more at ease when she figured out that the patrons were a mix of human and shifter. The big bartender was a wolf and did a good job of keeping the weres in line. When trouble flared up, Kira and Charlie ended up in a sword fight with about every werewolf in the place. Fortunately, the wolves were good losers and went back to their drinking afterwards.

Kira left Charlie at her house in a drunken sleep and traveled on to her sister's for some family time. When a call comes in from her boss, she has to return to the office in Roanoke where she finds out that a woman had been murdered in Gate City the night before and she is supposed to go apprehend the werewolf who did it. Imagine her surprise when she is informed that that wolf is the Full Moon Saloon's bartender Thom.

If I tell you any more it will ruin the story. Suffice it to say it is a heck of a mess with Kira not sure who she can trust. One thing she is sure of - Thom is not the murderer. But someone sure does want both him and Kira out of the way -preferably for good.

Rogue Moon

In the second book of the series, Kira is still avoiding what she feels for Thom and he is letting her. Well, except for on the full moon where she inexplicably spends her nights trying to climb him like a tree. What the heck is with that? Her best friend, Charlie, asks her to please find another place to live so that she can invite her new girlfriend over for cuddles and kisses (hopefully), her old boss shows up asking her to track down Charlie's sister's husband's brother, Kaito, who keeps trespassing on Reed pack territory on a full moon, and one of Thom's pack, Hank, is acting out of character. Then she makes not one, but two oaths that are going to come back to bite her. She will never learn.

I spent a lot of time yelling, "No, don't do it," at Kira. It didn't help. Be advised that there is more to come (slang for "cliffhanger").

Moon Duel

Loved the final tale in Kira's saga. She is still stuck on Reed pack land as the supposed heir. She and Thom have been making the best of the situation but he can't come onto the pack's land and she can't leave. Then Chief Reed informs her that she is required to attend the once a decade Moon Trials in San Francisco. After some, er, negotiations, she makes a deal that will get her more time with Thom if she wins three contests. She also chooses Willow as her second in order to get her out of the Alpha's reach for a few days. Thom makes other, more complicated, arrangements to be at the Trials.

Needless to say, the Moon Trials are not for fun and games. Kira expects that but she doesn't expect the presence of The Executioner, the wolf that tortured and killed her former boss. He seems to have it out for her from the time her plane lands in San Fran. She is set up for a murder that happens at the airport, but she does make a few allies while waiting for her turn to be interrogated. One seems to have a affinity for baking and one is a terrified teenager. The Cupcake Lady (I bet you know who that is!) seems to be there to network and only plans to win enough to make it look good and the other, Pet, is determined to win it all.

We find out lots of things we didn't know before. One is a revelation about Thom, another is Chief Reed's real motive for his fox fetish. There are several more murders with Kira as the chief suspect and a kidnapping or two. Kira's family will get involved, but I won't say how. There will be a few more surprises at the end, with a hint of the next series. Enjoy.

Full Moon Saloon
Kira Fairwood, Mai's little sister, had enjoyed protection and guidance ever since she and Mai became part of Gunner's pack. Now, as an adult, impetuousness and poor decisions seem to continue to haunt her, putting much more than her safety at stake. From the beginning I was intrigued by Thom’s character and his unusual way of acting. What secrets was he hiding? Was he Alpha or not? Kira drove me crazy with the way she jumps into action and jumps to conclusions without thinking things through, but the young Kitsune seems open to learning. The stories of secondary paranormal characters have always caught my attention and even more so if they are about young people starting to make a place for themselves in life. Anything can be expected from them! Kira promises a lot of adventure and dangerous situations and with Thom, who seems to be clear about how he wants things to happen. Action, suspense, deception, danger, strong emotions, funny commentary, violence, mystery, the beginning of a romance with the Young, fast, and furious Kitsune.
Rogue Moon
Kira Fairwood loves her family, cares for the well-being of her friends, has a powerful attraction to Thom, and tries her best to protect everyone, but constantly makes decisions without thinking about the consequences. Very different is this young Kitsune who is constantly carried away by her emotions and does not put her head to think. Interesting how the plot unfolds, and we see all that Kira and Thom must do to survive the threats that hang over them. This Kira is a fire lit at full throttle! Something that catches my attention is the theme of the Kitsune and the interesting way in which the author elaborates on it with the brothers. Fast-paced plot development with suspense, intrigue, trickery, mystery, magic, violence, a cunning and vile enemy, lots of emotions at play, some funny scenes, drama everywhere, romance and passion. Romance, family bonds and camaraderie.
Moon Duel
In a spectacular twist, Kira found herself battling more than one scary situation. Lots of mystery and surprises awaited me. I liked how things got complicated because the least I thought was what was happening. It was interesting how Kira was able to bring out her potential, the strong and complicated secondary characters and Thom's commitment, sharpness, and confidence. Thom and Kira's relationship was powerful. It was a very pleasant surprise for me to rediscover one of my favorite characters from another of the author's series. Loved that girl! The character of the Executioner intrigued me a lot and ended up leaving me speechless. I loved the confrontation that was Super! I can't deny that I got a little emotional, and I liked the new turn things took for Kira. I really enjoy these stories that absorb me with their interesting plots and make me feel with the protagonists. Action, suspense, adventure, strong emotions, intrigue, mystery, deception, secrets, magic, violence, family relationship, some amusing scenes, romance, passion and... surprises.

Full Moon Saloon, the first installment in Aimee Easterling's Kira Fairwood Series, starts off with a bang and keeps on rolling. Full of action, it will keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. The storyline is fast-paced and well written, filled with magic and mayhem, intrigue, subterfuge, pack politics, danger and light romance. The characters are well developed and engaging. Thom was interesting as an untrained alpha. It was great watching him learn more about his alpha status, and the power that it entails.

Rogue Moon is a wonderful shifter tale. The storyline is filled with kitsune magic, werewolves, danger, murder, intrigue, subterfuge, pack politics and quirky romance. Kira's story is definitely unique, a kitsune fox shifter living both around humans and werewolves, while trying desperately to hang on to her own heritage. Thom is a strong alpha werewolf who will do anything necessary to protect Kira, even from herself. Overall, this is a good, strong story, showcasing well the differences between honor and duty and love and obsession.

Moon Duel is a rollercoaster ride from beginning to end. The storyline is filled with magic and mayhem, adventure, danger, murder, intrigue, mystery, subterfuge, politics and romance. The Moon Trials are a fascinating twist. Kira's loyalties are pulled in so many different directions, it is amazing that she doesn't shatter into a million pieces! Moon Duel is an excellent finale for this exciting trilogy.

Overall, Kira's story is a fascinating tale that shouldn't be missed by anyone interested in shifter lore!

Grab your bowl of popcorn because these stories are fast-paced, suspenseful, and fun with appealing characters. They have exciting, action-filled plots and several mysteries and unexpected twists as kitsune heroine Kira bounces from one dangerous situation to another in rapid succession. She struggles to catch a killer and find missing persons while navigating wolf pack politics and trying to protect friends and family.

I enjoyed the narration by Yu-Li Alice Shen. Her performance was well paced and easy to understand, and I liked how she conveyed personality and emotions with her character voices.

I volunteered to review an advanced listener copy of this audiobook provided to me by the author. If you like contemporary fantasy or paranormal mystery/suspense with a hint of slow-burn romance, give this series a try.

Audiobook: I was entertained by this three-book box set. I appreciated the changes in setting: from a tavern, to an enemy alpha's land, to the city of Seattle. My attention was captured by the almost non-stop action. I thought Kira had a hard time learning from her experiences as she seemed to keep making the same mistakes, but I attributed that to her youth. I enjoyed Yu-Li Alice Shen's narration, and I thought her performance enhanced the story's entertainment. I was given a copy of the audiobook through Spotify. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.

Yuck!
I did not enjoy this book at all. The world is too slick, convoluted, no world building and illogical.
I liked the nephew.
What the heck are ‘ice pick eyes’?
Humans must be the dumbest creatures on earth not to know about these beings who do things right out in the open.
Nope!

main Character is a character!! She ends up going through a heck of a lot of events particularly because of her smart remarks and additude. She finds a man who is able to see past her quirks to actually love her deeply.

I read the 3 books as epubs in Jan/May/Sep 2022.

I enjoy the concept of kitsunes (were-foxes) and totally accept that the local were-wolves wouldn't accept the kitsunes in their territory. Acceptance matters.

I always enjoy Aimee's books

I liked the world, but it was interesting to me that the character was so independent but sometimes so need of help. I think the magic was interesting as well, but I definitely don’t plan on rereading good for one time read.
