The railroad tycoon, Reydan White, has wounded his love and killed his friends. And enough is enough.
But the only way to get to him is to join a motley collection of cowboys, farmers, businessmen, and outlaws to cross into Prehistoria. Governor Fredrick is calling them the Rough Raiders. Their job is to hassle the apes and force them into an open battle with the Army and Pinkerton Detective Agency to finally decide, once and for all, who will claim this prehistoric world.
Jed is signing up, under a new name, with a new horse, new weapons, and a thirst for vengeance that can only be slated by raiding prehistoric to get to his mortal enemy.
Erik Testerman writes historical adventure for readers who like their heroes tough, their history dangerous, and their enemies impossible.
His stories throw hard men into the worst places history can offer - and sometimes places history never did. From brutal battlefields and forgotten corners of the past to encounters with enemies no ordinary soldier should have to face, Testerman writes fast-moving adventures built around courage, survival, loyalty, and impossible odds.
His work blends historical fiction, military adventure, and the fantastic, with a particular fascination for the men who keep fighting when the sensible thing would be to run.
When he's not writing, Testerman reads history, studies the weapons and conflicts that shape it, and looks for the next impossible story worth telling.
I'm surprised Jed's sister made an appearance since it was clearly stated in the first book that she died from scarlet fever, but anyways, another good entry into this series, again the humor was well placed and the action intense.
What a great series! I mean how could you not love a book about cowboys and dinosaurs?! If you don't, then turn in your man card. I hope the adventures continue. But if not, I feel this series had a great ending. Also Erik, thank your for your service 🇺🇲 !
I found Testerman at his debut. What a catch. Superb writing and just fantastic characters. The idea of dinosaurs in the Old West is a seriously great idea. Think about it: no tech, only pistols and rifles (and gattling guns). Fell in love with characters and enjoy seeing them (those that survive) appear in each book in the series. Testerman is excellent at pacing the action and is great at descriptions of the surrounding environment, flora, and fauna. The bad guys are bad. The dinosaurs and found lost civilizations of Vikings and intelligent apes are super additions to each tale. I'm telling ya. You have to check this guy out. His books are really good. Start the series and enjoy! Highly recommended.
I liked the characters and the background, but there was very little actual dinosaur action. Really, this story was about a war and vengeance. Pretty much skimmed through most of it. If you like war drama, this is for you. Will wait on next book. Four stars for clean language.
I enjoyed all 4 books starting with West of Prehistoric to Raiding Prehistoric, The story and flow of book went well, I enjoyed all characters Jed , Skyla and Carbine the horse, I went from e-book to Audible on the first 3 books and read the 4th on e-mail book, now I'm looking forward to book 5 when it comes out.
