ImoUza volume 2 was an interesting read for me. Iroha was still well written and I enjoyed reading her sections. We were also introduced to a few more characters, specifically Otoi, the sound director. She wasn’t in the story too much, however, she was definitely a welcome addition to the roster.
Now that i’ve sung this novels praises let’s talk about the actual story. Unfortunately the story really falls short for me. It is good popcorn entertainment(quite a page turner really), however, if you’re looking for a good story you won’t find it here. The story is so jam packed full of stupid ‘coincidences’ that it gets to the point that it’s so jarring that it takes you out of the experience. Basically, don’t expect anything too realistic or you’ll be disappointed.

Honestly felt like this one was a step down in quality from the first one. I have to compliment the fact that the first book ends with a confession and that this volume actually deals with it. I was honestly expecting the main character to still not get it somehow but I liked how it was handled.

Besides that though nothing about the various character plots really interested me in any sort of way even the thing I just mentioned was solved so quickly. I feel like it could have been better by just having focus on one of the girls instead of trying to focus on so many.

Also I dont mind reading harems but did one of the new characters introduced really needed to be implied to have feelings for the main character so quickly? Also this is just a personal thing but I think I realized I really dont like *romantic* comedies where the main character is genuinely not interested in romance but the love interests are.

It had me amused occasionally but the first book was funnier, there were no bits of character interaction that I found particularly charming, or any really good fanservice scene. Overall I felt bored reading through most of it.

Akiteru has a big problem. His cousin Mashiro, who he is "fake dating" at the request of his uncle to try and get his game sponsored by a big gaming company, has confessed that she is really in love with him. So Aki needs to respond appropriately, but she will not talk to him at school. The writer sends in a totally sappy love story that is so wrong for the feel of the game. Then Sumire drags him into the drama club issues, Iroha blows up on him for no reason he can fathom, and he totally looses it. So can Aki manage to respond to Mashiro, get Iroha back on track, get a good scenario from the writer, and save the dram club from being disbanded without loosing his mind? And then there are the twists tossed in during the two epilogues! Volume three is going to be crazy!

I really enjoyed the first book and with the second book you can clearly tell that the author is getting better with time. The story continues to not only be entertaining but the building on characters and relationships continues to amuse me.

This series is a lot less trashy than the title and cover originally led me to expect. Great cast of characters and in a way it reminds me of the first season of Saekano.
