The Carnal Tower #4

Spark of Wrath

Rate this book
“From a little spark may burst a mighty flame.” - Dante Alighieri

He is Wrath—and always will be. His anger knows no bounds, rooted deep in his soul and he would be nothing without it.

Flint has come to terms with his future, and the sort of man he is.

Tender.
Quiet.
Angry…
…and alone.

Except there was a man who left as quickly as he’d come into Flint’s life. Tragedy struck and Flint’s waited three long years with nothing but silence.

Then, when he least expects it, Tomás returns, and with him, a promise for more. But there are conditions, because half of Tomás’s heart belongs to another man—one Flint will have to learn to accept if he ever wants a happily ever after.

And while Flint is willing to share, the more time he spends with Luke, the more he realizes his cold, tired heart might have room for one more.

Spark of Wrath is the fourth book in the Carnal Tower series. It features one man defined by his anger, crumbling under the weight of it all, and two others who have room to carry him when he can no longer carry himself. Together they define the merits of sandwich making—because there is a wrong way—how crabs on the beach can be romantic, how lovers can be best friends, and how everyone deserves a happily ever after.

This series means so much to me personally. There's a consistent theme throughout of healing and overcoming shame, and every time I read these books, I feel a little bit seen. They are all beautifully written, and this is no different.

I loved all three characters, and while their connection was fast, it emotionally made so much sense that they belonged together. All three are hurting and a bit angry, and the way they work through that, especially while in "Wrath sessions" together was powerful. I'd argue that one of the sex scenes in this book was actually one of the best I've ever read, mainly because of the way vulnerability was incorporated, and the way it was used to heal internal wounds.

As always, the representation of abilities and bodies was done respectfully and with great empathy.
Tomas suffers from injury-related paralysis and eventually amputation. Lucas has a micropenis, which is something I've never read in a romance, and it is never disrespected or shamed.

I loved meeting Onyx, Stone and Flint's younger brother in this, and am so excited that he is going to be paired with one of the sins.

This was a phenomenal romance and story of character growth. I deducted half a star because I wish it was a little longer, and the epilogue should have been from Flint's POV, but those did not detract from how much I loved this overall.

This one missed the mark for me. It was too short for the amount of trauma dumped in a book, and for the amount of characters and storylines set up. This also felt more like Tomas’ book than wrath’s (Flint) book, which is maybe adding to my disappointment. Where was wrath? Where was the anger? Where was his retribution? Instead of using his storyline to set up the next book, given this is his book, it should have focused more on him as a character. Who is he? What’s his deal? Tomas got his answers, but Luke and Flint fell flat with a lack of emotional exploration on their parts. Their stories seemed rushed and incomplete. This could have been marketed as baseball MMM book with a supporting cast of the sins, rather than as a main book in the series. Maybe the next one will be better.

Flint is Stone's, the owner of the Tower's, brother (and I just realized while typing this the connection in their names. I wonder if the author did that intentionally, though it would be too much of a coincidence otherwise).

So, Flint had a client once, Tomás, and he considered him special because he felt an immediate connection. The next day, they met by chance in town and spent a few hours together but their time together ended with a trip to the hospital and three years of silence.

Tomás was at the beginning of a life-changing journey then and he needed time alone to work with himself, adjust to the new circumstances, accept his new reality, and learn to live again. So he decided to cut ties with everyone in his life and that included Flint, whom he'd just met but wanted to explore their connection, and Luke, who was his best friend and secret love of his life.

Luke, for his part, reluctantly accepted Tomás' decision, even though he didn't understand it, and gave him time and space. He was also in love with him but they were still at that point where they were both reluctant to admit they wanted more because they were afraid of messing up their friendship if the other didn't feel the same. Although I don't know how they couldn't have known how the other felt with the way they both acted more like a couple than just friends.

Anyway, that's the dynamics between the main characters at the beginning. I should probably also be clear that while Tomás and Luke had crossed the friendship line a while ago, they were neither monogamous nor in a relationship when Tomás first met Flint. There's no cheating in the story although there is some jealousy. But everyone is honest and every card is on the table.

I wish the story was longer, or at least that it took longer for all of them to be together. There's three years of no contact so no relationship development during that time. A lot of character development for Tomás though, so I'm glad there was that time jump. But after they reconnected and Flint and Luke met, I wish there would have been more time for all of them to bond and get to know each other. Especially the dynamic between Luke and Flint felt rushed and unbelievable.

While Tomás' character development was paced and thought out—as it should be—the relationship between all three of them and between Flint and each of the other two wasn't. Tomás and Luke already had a strong relationship from knowing each other for years so falling back into it even after years of no contact wasn't an issue for me. But Flint was a new addition and I think there should have been more page time dedicated to him building similar connections with them so the relationship would be stronger.

The weird part here is that despite what I just mentioned the relationship between all of them actually felt pretty balanced. I didn't feel like anyone was left out or less important than the other two. So I count that as a win and a point for the story.

I think it's best to read the series in order but each book can also work as a standalone. You'll likely miss some references and be unaware of events mentioned but you'll be nowhere near lost enough to not be able to follow along.

A Joyfully Jay review.

Spark of Wrath is the fourth book in E.M. Lindsey’s excellent Carnal Tower series. The books follow a group of men who work as the “Sins” in a brothel and there is very much a found family vibe among them. While this story stands mostly alone from a relationship end, Flint is a recurring character in prior books and we do hear bits about Tomás along the way. We also got Flint’s brother Stone’s story in Shades of Lust, which provides a little more context to their childhood and relationship with each other. All of which is to say that you could read this as a standalone, but I think the context will be richer if you are familiar with the series.

Overall, I found this another great installment to the series. I really enjoy these men and the great found family vibe among them. This one is intense and emotional, but there is a lot of warmth among Tomás, Luke, and Flint and a really great connection. I am looking forward to more for this series.

I've been waiting with bated breath for the return of the Carnal Sins series, and E.M. Lindsey did not make me wait in vain... They take such broken characters and give them hope, love and redemption. Once again, an instant connection between M/Cs is highly featured in the first M/M/M story in the Sins series, with three men who have to overcome trauma, pain and their own fears to find their hearts desire in each other.

Beautifully written and crafted in such a way that even the third act break feels completely natural to the story, you'd best clear your schedule before starting Spark of Wrath, because you won't want to put it down.

Spark of Wrath by E.M. Lindsey is Book 4 in the Carnal Towers series. Full disclosure: I have not read the previous books in this series as it contains tropes that I tend to avoid. However, knowing how much I love E.M. Lindsey’s writing, I thought I would give this one a try because it is definitely how I learn about topics. In this novel, we have Tomas, Flint, and Luke who are trying to become a throuple through a lot of trauma for all the men involved.

I really liked Luke and Flint quite a bit. Flint works at Carnal Towers as Wrath and we see his anger bubble up quite often. Luke is getting close to retiring from MLB and just wants to be with Tomas, the man he loves. Where I struggled was with Tomas. Tomas was so bitter, angry, and downright cruel (to Flint and especially Luke) that I never was able to warm-up to him. Even at the end when Luke is retiring from the sport he loves, Tomas still manages to make it about his loss rather than Luke’s. Everything in this relationship was on Tomas’ timetable and desires. Listen, I get it, Tomas had been through hell and was learning to adjust. But just because life is crappy, you shouldn’t treat people you claim to love like Tomas did. He literally told Luke that he hated him because he still got to play baseball. And not just like he was sad or resentful that Luke got to continue doing something you love but like full on hate. How can you want to be with someone that you hate for still being able to play?

This also felt very insta-love. Tomas spent one night with Flint and then three years later expected to have a relationship with him and Luke? I don’t know. I guess I would have liked to have seen more build-up to wanting a relationship.

Something else that really bugged me was Flint never told Luke he loved him. He said it to Tomas, but never to Luke. Luke was free with his love and emotions, so it left me feeling icky. Like Flint was only with Luke because of Tomas.

As always, this was beautifully written, and many people will love it. It just wasn’t what I expected, and I am probably not the intended audience. I will continue to read this author because I love them and will still highly recommend their books.

This was aggressively fine?

Lindsey can tend to veer to instalove at points but usually I can find something that grounds the relationship enough to let it go. For Luke & Tomas I could because they had a whole existing back story but both of their relationships with Flint were just too fast.

The other thing is I really don't think they needed Flint? I get that this is his series but I came to it because I was reading the Hit & Run series and wanted to know what was going on with Luke and Tomas. Basically I can see how they all fit together, but I could have lifted Flint out and still had the same relationship for Luke & Tomas.

I think this one was the best. still with instalove on everyone's part which I do not enjoy at all. But enough other conflicts to be interesting and not candy floss. Everyone had reasons to be grouchy which I appreciate from a book of wrath

This is the second book I've tried from this series and I concluded that it's just not for me. I had much of the same issues here as with book #2. The Sin was pretty underwhelming and I just didn't care about him, Flint, or any of the MCs that much if I'm being honest. The relationships seriously lacked depth and buildup, this was so insta-lovey.. (Sorry I just didn't buy Flint seeing Tomás for one night and then pining for 3 years half in love.) Also there was too much telling for my taste. Overall very heavy on smut, too little substance, and just failed to make me feel anything much, other than somewhat bored towards the end. A bummer.

Spark of Wrath is the fourth book in E.M. Lindsey’s The Carnal Tower series. It is a MMM hurt/comfort romance that can be read as a complete standalone. This book is a bit heavier than the preceding three in the series, so please review the content and trigger warnings and always take care of yourself while reading. Here’s what you can expect from Flint, Tomás, and Luke:

- Third person triple point of view
- Guaranteed happily ever after
- Hurt/comfort and found family
- Edging, obedience, and praise kink
- Swoon and steam
- The merits of embracing anger

Synopsis: Flint’s Hellish personna, Wrath, is a second skin to him. Embodying this Sin has brought him peace from his past like nothing else can. A fleeting interaction three years ago still preoccupies a piece of his mind. Tomás, a professional baseball player, left Flint’s life as quickly as he entered it. He’s back now, and half of his heart belongs to former teammate Luke. Tomás and Luke have a complicated history, and they want Flint to be a part of their happily ever after. Does Flint’s damaged heart have room for two?
“Is that what happened?” He tsked. “So many sins to atone for.”
“Wanting you isn’t a sin,” Tomás whispered.

It’s no secret that I adore this series, and when the opportunity presented itself to review an ARC of Spark of Wrath, I couldn’t sign up fast enough. Throughout the first three books, we’ve gotten glimpses of Flint from the other Sins’ perspectives. Some of the scenes in Spark of Wrath felt familiar because they appeared as fleeting moments in the first three books in the series. It was time for Flint’s story, and I think E.M. Lindsey delivered!

Final thoughts: An incredible addition to The Carnal Tower series. We learn that life at the Tower is inevitably changing for everyone, and we meet some new characters that I know we’ll be seeing more of. If you haven’t checked this series out, please do! You won’t be disappointed.
“It scares me how much I want this and how much I have to lose. I still need more time, but I want to be here with you. I want to take this outside of the Tower.” Admitting that was maybe one of the hardest things he’d ever done. Wrath had always been a shield, and putting that down felt impossible.
But losing the weight of it felt like freedom.

I received an ARC of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This book wouldn't let go until I finished it. I did not want to set it down once I got into it. The feelings it brought out in me were unexpected. There were some heartbreaking times for all three of these men and I cried for them several times. These men have all suffered in different ways and the hurt/comfort contained within was beautiful.

Wrath, aka Flint, has an endless supply of anger. Unlike several of the other Sins at the Carnal Tower, he really hasn't been able to separate himself from Wrath and thinks it will keep him alone for the rest of his life. When he meets Tomás, he feels something that he hadn't encountered before. However, Tomás has too much to handle in his life at the time. I liked that Tomás was honest with Flint and his best friend (and sometimes lover) Luke as well. about that time in his life. However, the pain revolving around that period for all three men is palatable. They all needed Wrath in order to start putting the past and the hurt behind them, but Flint has trouble moving past everything. Tomás had a big task in trying to not only put back together his relationship with Luke, but also with convincing Flint to take a chance on both him and Luke together. The author did an amazing job showing us their pain and the comfort they get from one another. I was glad that Luke managed to find the key to getting Flint to really take the chance on them; they both needed that connection and honesty. They fit together so well and accepted each other as they were. I'm glad that they were able to work past their worries, limitations, and pain to accept the beautiful relationship they could create together.

Spark of Wrath is the fourth book in the series. You could read this one as a standalone since it focuses on the characters, but I think you might gain a little insight and have a richer reading experience if you are familiar with the series. I've loved all the books in this series so far, so I have no problem recommending any of them.

[I received a digital arc for an honest review]

Spark of Wrath by E.M. Lindsey is the newest book in the Carnal Towers series. Flint is the embodiment of wrath and takes his role within the towers seriously. He never expects a one night experience with a client to leave him feeling so unbalanced. Tomas’s life as he knows it is over and what he experiences after his night with Flint leaves him even more confused. Add in his long time affection for his best friend Luke and Tomas realizes he has a lot to consider. Tomas needs Luke in his life and finds that he wants Flint with them too. But can Flint look beyond the surface at the complications of being with Tomas and Luke and towards a brighter future.

E.M. Lindsey is bringing their world of Carnal Towers and colliding it with their Hit and Run series. Flint has been a sin I’ve been curious about since the beginning because he is just so volatile, even with the ones he loves. You were introduced to Tomas and Luke but this is a deep dive into their lives together and apart at least for Tomas. The three appear to be in dramatically different positions in life but seeing them come together and provide the support that each needs was so sweet and ultra steamy.

This wasn’t just Tomas. This was Luke and Tomas. These were two parts that made a whole, and somehow, there was room for Flint too.

Lindsey is not afraid to broach difficult subjects and takes time to bring up the not so pleasant aspects of disability, mental health struggles and body differences. That’s what made this story so powerful is that these men each struggled with different aspects of existing but found being together made some of these troubles more bearable. With all their flaws Flint, Tomas and Luke want to make things work even if it is a bumpy road to get there.

4 stars for Flint, Tomas and Luke giving into sin and becoming more.

I love E.M's work, their writing always blows me away, and I always come away from reading their books learning something. I learned in this book that there is a condition where your nerves decay and you can't move your arms, I learned that if you lose your arms that you can use your feet, and there there are devices so people who don't have the same limbs as others can still have a mostly independent life. I love learning things, and I learned a lot in this book.

I think we as readers can all learn a lot from the characters in this story, sure the characters themselves are fiction... But the way these men are written feels very real, and their emotions are relatable. The way each of these men had something to overcome or adapt to, the way that they each struggled but eventually grew closer together instead of further apart, how they learned to communicate their deepest fears... I think that's all very beautiful, and I think there's a lot to learn from that.

The story itself was beautifully written, as always. I absolutely adored that the other sins made cameos in this book, I enjoyed 'seeing' them again and 'hearing' what they are up to. I still am so intrigued by Hen's character, I hope we get their book soon!

Flint, Tomás , and Luke fit together, it just makes sense. They all contributed something to the relationship, and they each help one another when one is struggling. This book while it does have some angst that EM is known for, it also has elements of insta-love.. the characters fight it at first, but as far as these characters connections go, it was quite fast and not what I was expecting. Having said that though I really enjoyed this story! I'm so happy to be immersed once again in The Carnal Tower world, and I'm so excited to read what's coming next!!

I knew Wrath's book was going to be a weighty one, and what a journey it turned out to be for Flint, Luke, and Tomas. I didn't just feel their anger and pain, I raged at the unfairness of life alongside them and watched as they reshaped the pieces into something that made sense again. Theirs was a cutting, difficult, almost hopeless at times romance, but the threads of potential between Luke and Tomas and Flint were too strong to let go of. I have so much respect for each man for going through the situations they did and not giving up or taking the easy path out, and while it certainly changed them, it didn't alter their character. Tomas was the heart of this story, and his connection to both Flint and Luke felt so right while also being exactly the wrong time/place/circumstances for each other. It was difficult to watch them struggle and run away and get in their heads with uncertainties and self-doubts, but it also made every choice to see each other again feel that much more meaningful. Flint, Luke, and Tomas each needed to take their own path to get to a point where they were physically and emotionally ready for a relationship, and that did mean that at times they had to be apart. I felt like I got to really understand each man in those moments alone with their thoughts, and when they came back together again I knew for sure that it was right, that it could be a forever kind of love. That doesn't mean the three of them made it easy for each other, but if there's one thing this book proved it's that each of them was willing to fight for the most important things in their lives.

All the books in this series focus on some kind of disability or difference. In the previous books as I reached the end, even if the story felt short, it didn't feel incomplete.
But in this particular book, especially after the 50% mark everything felt too sped up.

The premise, the different characters, the unique possibilities of interactions all were wonderful. But the actual relationships we got to see so little of. I mean insta love is good and stuff but it isn't enough on its own is what I believe.

I would have loved to see how Flint and Luke adjusted to Thomas's needs. How the relationship between Flint and Luke would evolve. Or even more about how Flint dealt with his past and his sin. I mean we barely got to see a few days at most of the characters story. And there was enough nuance to it that another book or even more pages in this one would have made total sense.

I kinda regret giving a book which had such amazing potential just 3 stars. But it just left me so unsatisfied.

I'll probably read the next story, even though this series isn't exactly a 5 stars one throughout.
A concept as interesting as the Carnal Tower?
With the seven deadly sins in a cathedral?
It'll eventually draw me back towards it. Even though the books give a lot more importance to the diversity aspect than the carnal one.

I mean I absolutely adore the diversity aspect and the knowledge that comes with it, the intrigue of how such characters feel and work is something indeed. But I definitely would been a lot more happy to see equal importance given to the other side.
The first book definitely had a lot more balance between the two than the others.
Can't help but want for everything I know, but whatever.

I was eagerly waiting for Spark of Wrath for both Flint's story and the first MMM of the series. It mostly delivered but was cut far too short. Wonderful angsty slow burn but then it just ends suddenly.

There's even more angst than the previous books in The Carnal Tower series, with both Tomas' illness and trauma and Flint's PTSD from his abusive backwoods cult upbringing, plus introducing a new blood brother to Flint and Stone. And the book covers a longer time period, starting as it does with Tomas and Flint's first meeting, 3 years before the end of the book. But despite all that, it is shorter than both Shades of Lust (book 1) and Waiting on Forever (book 2).

I loved what was written, although it was heavy on Tomas' story, despite being Flint's book and there was definitely a strong insta-love bias, with Flint and Tomas meeting just twice before separating and then Tomas coming back into Flint's life looking for a relationship.

But the three of them don't really get together until the last chapter and, other than an epilogue centred on Luke's MLB retirement, it just ends without Luke and Tomas being brought into the Carnal Tower found family, without much exploration of Wrath or more focus on Flint or even a solidification of Flint and Luke's relationship.

Another 4 chapters and it would have been a 5 star read for me. As it is, I struggled to rate it.

In this you'll find:
✨A contemporary MMM romance
✨Insta-love
✨A high class sexworker in a fallen angel themed brothel
✨A MLB star with upper limb paralysis
✨A MLB star nearing retirement
✨Second chance
✨Amputation
✨Near fatal health complications
✨Cult survivors
✨Assault
✨PTSD
✨Found family

Spark of Wrath was a highly emotional, powerful and moving story - and I honestly didn’t expect the impact it had on me. It’s been a few days and I’m still in awe of this fantastic book!

The majority of the story took place about three years after Tomás and Flint initially met. While they never had the chance to start anything, they instantly connected and were still thinking of each other, even years later. It hurt to see how Tomás pushed both Flint and Luke out of his life the way he did, even if I could understand why he did it.

It was a heavy story to read at times, these men had all been through so much, and Tomás story completely broke my heart at times. His journey was an eye-opener and I loved how far he had come after having his life basically shattered. I loved the second chance that these men had, but I’m not going to lie, sometimes it felt hopeless - there was just so much uncertainty and doubt in their path.

Their story had me completely engrossed, and I loved seeing their relationships and dynamics take form. Even if Flint and Luke had Tomás in common, they still had their own moments which I loved. All three of them had amazing chemistry and the steamy scenes were really, really hot.

Spark of Wrath was an absolutely beautifully written story, with so much emotion and weight to it, and it’s definitely the angstiest book so far in the series. I loved the journey for all three of the characters and how their dynamic developed. There were a lot of heartbreaking and painful moments, but also a lot of love and reconciliation.

I’m a crier. I can admit it, and I hold no shame for it. I’ve been asked before, why do I keep reading books that make me cry? Because I like to feel. But also because of writers like EM Lindsey. They make it worth it. They draw you in so completely that you join the characters for the ride, and that includes being put back together in the end.

If there’s one emotion that really breaks me every time it is the sense of feeling like you’re not enough. And all three of these men feel that way at some point. Past and present.

In the beginning, these three are connected by Tomas. But ultimately they are all crucial to the relationship. They all need the other two. It needs the three of them to shape their lives into something that makes sense for them.

It’s not an easy road, and it’s not a sunshiny future. It’s real, and gritty, and hard. And beautiful. Tomas, Flint, and Luke together make me believe. Believe that loving someone doesn’t need to be easy or without struggles. That you can be loved even if you come with baggage, or a disability, and anything else to society deems a ‘flaw’.

There’s a special kind of hope that comes from a love that they had to fight for.

Glad Wrath let himself find his happiness

As the Carnal Tower books go, this has a lot of angst and hurt. Flint has been on my mind since Shades Of Lust (his brother's book), knowing something of what the brothers excaped from and why Flint was the natural choice for the Sin of Wrath.
Tomás' one appointment with Wrath changed both men, but events immediately overtook them and left Flint alone, adrift and in the dark, Tomás' whole life irrevocably changed, and Luke ignored and hurt. Their path to happiness was fraught with anger and sadness and uncertainty, and watching them struggling separately and then when they were together was difficult but ultimately rewarding.
E.M.'s disability rep is always first class and this is no different. They obviously do a lot of research into their characters' disabilities and their writing is always sensitive and informative and fills you with empathy rather than pity. My heart broke for Tomás and what happened but seeing him navigate his new reality, and not having it sugar-coated, was not always easy but it was uplifting.
I just wish that the book was longer because there was a lot of them individually and then it all felt a bit of a rush to get to the finish line. I needed to see more of Flint and Luke together as well as Tomás and Flint, and Luke and Tomás, and all three together too.
I'm still very invested in the series and am intrigued by a possible pairing that was hinted at in passing.

This is another situation where star ratings sucks because this wasn’t really a 3 but it wasn’t quite a 4 either. I thought Flint’s relationship with his Sin was definitely the most interesting so far and probably the most dangerous. I liked Tomas and Luke, thought we only get Luke’s POV once which I feel like made the relationship seem unbalanced and much more like it was Tom/Luke and then Tomas/Flint which majority of the book was trying to convince the reader it wasn’t like that. Similar to the last book the time jumps weren’t for me, but I see how they were more useful in this story.

Story aside, I am constantly impressed with how much thought E.M Lindsey puts in to having tons of disability representation in their books. Especially the physical disabilities, I feel like whenever I read their books even if I don’t entire love the characters/couples I’m always taught something new and the diversity is always so effortless and it’s nice to read about main characters who would normally be cat aside characters in other books have their moment.

I’m excited about the possibility of 2 new characters if Stone does retire and Jet takes over, also Onyx/Mauro tease?? Definitely going to read Skye’s book when it comes out too!

Another fantastic book in the The Carnal Tower Book series - this one focusing on Flint (Wrath), Stone's younger brother. The Tower and the men in it saved Flint's life when he escaped from his religious cult family. They loved him, they accepted him and, with them, he finally found a home. But he wanted more - even if he could never admit that to himself. A night, and a very eventful day, with Tomas, a former MLB player facing an incredibly difficult life-changing injury, gave Flint a glimpse into the life he's always wanted before it's torn away from him.

3 year later, Tomas, and his love, Luke are back in Flint's life, wondering if the 3 men could build a life together. HEA is right in front of him, if only Flint is strong enough to set down his worries and let himself be loved.

Incredibly hot, super touching and impossible to put down- this was an amazing addition to a great series! I wish we saw a bit more about Wrath's anger and the clients that came to see him to get a better picture of all of Flint, but that is a very minor quibble in a fantastic book!

I usually love poly stories, but this one didn't quite work for me. If I'm honest, that's probably a lot about me reading the last three books in a row, instead of pacing myself.

I'd looked forward to Flint's book, but while we heard more about his trauma, I'm still confused about him getting hurt by clients regularly, being shaken and torn up about it (also in the other books.) We hear about Flint getting a black eye from someone who had lied about what he wanted out of his session, him using the panic button more than any other Sin, and that Wrath is different and, simply by embodying that specific Sin, will be more prone to his clients hurting him outside what is agreed upon in the contract. But why? Dammit.

It also seemed weird that he had "shown his Wrath" to Tomás and Luke during their session, but all that happened was that he was somewhat dominant and was good at working out what his partners needed. It was confusing.

I still liked the book, and I liked Tomás and Luke, but for me this was the weakest link in the series so far.

I’ve been looking forward to Flint / Wrath’s story for ages — he’s always seemed so tangled up with his Sin, and it felt like his story would be really interesting. This book absolutely lived up to my expectations, I devoured it in almost a single sitting, I couldn’t put it down! All the Sins are great at reading what their clients and people around them need, but something about how Flint interacts with Tomás and Luke was next level for me.

As always, EM Lindsey does an excellent job of representing mental health and physical disabilities in a respectful and real way. I really appreciate that all of their books feel like we’re reading about real people, with real challenges and struggles, and this book is no exception.

I’d highly recommend this entire Carnal Tower series, including this one. Eagerly awaiting the next book already!!

I received an ARC edition and this is my honest review.

I’ve enjoyed all the books I’ve read in the Carnal Tower series and this was a compelling addition. The Carnal Tower is such an interesting and unique setting and one of my favorite aspects across the books has been the family these characters have built for themselves. EM Lindsey is excellent at creating diverse and well crafted characters and the three main characters in Wrath’s book are no exception. Tomás, Luke, and Flint are all definitely flawed, interesting and complex. There is a lot of trauma in this story which made it challenging to see how a relationship between Flint, Luke and Tomás could work. I’m not sure this worked for me as a romance, honestly I had the most interest in Luke and Flint together. But, the setting and characters are so well done and the writing has tons of skill and emotion that it’s still an enjoyable read overall.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

🧡 Flint ~ Tomás ~ Luke

🍁🍁🍁🍁 ~ ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

📖 Flint has never fallen for a client until Tomás came along but when Tomás pushes him away he is unsure what to do. Especially when Tomás comes back into Flint's life and requests he join him and Luke.

❤️ Flint, Tomás and Luke all have demons that they are fighting and when the three of them come together they help calm each other's demons. Flint, Tomás and Luke's story is full of so many emotions that broke my heart but also put it back together by the end.

🖤 I was excited to return to The Carnal Tower, wish we got more from these three as it seemed they have so much more to tell, and can not wait until we can return to The Carnal Tower.

Flint & Thomás & Luke: I am in awe of the Sins that Lindsey has created. The bone deep pain these men feel from what life has thrown at them, only to rise up and be family to each other, to love unconditionally. Flint doesn’t feel he deserves love from anyone else or that they could give it freely once they get to know him. Thomás and Flint’s one night together changed something for both of them. Thomás makes the decision to push Flint away to deal with his pain alone, he also pushes Luke away. Until he realizes he can’t and doesn’t want to do it alone anymore. He’s made strides living independently but now wants what he’s afraid he can’t have. The love of two men who could complete each other if given the chance. This was a beautifully written book. I look forward to more from the Carnal Tower.

These stories are not light reads but I love them so much! The men of the Carnal Tower have all been broken by life in some way and are fighting their way back to their own truths. Reading them in order helps. The beginning of this one overlaps the others. Flint and Tomas and Luke are an interesting triad. Tomas is living with a disability that he never imagined he would have but Flint never knew him any other way. Luke and Tomas have been in love with each other for years but Flint makes them complete. He isn’t their glue. He is their partner. This story really is a good one. I enjoyed their dynamic and EM Lindsey can write disability rep with a great deal of skill. I love their characters and the little hints and bits that link other books with this one. Definitely worth a read!

Perfectly Imperfect

I really enjoyed this addition to The Carnal Tower series. Flint is the younger brother to Stone, who is in the first book in this series so I was excited to see him finally get his HEA.

This is MMM and I believe it was perfect because all three men have such weight and anger and so much love that it takes more than one partner to help carry the load. Flint, Tomas, and Luke are such deep characters and you can’t help but feel their pain as your own.

EM is such an amazing writer and they make the readers and MCs feel all the emotional angst along with all the steamy… (oh sooo steamy🔥🔥)… chemistry. These men find the love amongst tragedy and hardship and they give them a family both found and by blood.

I adored the side story of Onyx and I am hoping for more for him. He definitely needs a HEA and maybe it can be with one of the Sins. 😉
