From before the wedding to the end of the book, the thrills kept coming. I loved how his door on his apartment was broken and he never fixes it. The budding romance and all the action makes this book a must read.

Broken, indeed. David is a veteran suffering from PSTD, with a war buddy supporting him and working through his own issues. But David is barely keeping his head above water when our story begins. He finds himself in deeper trouble than he could have known as his life goes from struggling to fighting for his life.
Ana is on the threshold of marrying the oldest son of a wealthy and powerful family. Her fiance's brother is a tool, but then we also find out that her fiance is strung a bit too tight as well. Then Ana's life falls completely apart the night before her wedding when her fiance is murdered, in front of her, and she has to flee for her own life as well, certain that between the authorities and her fiance's family that she will be convicted of the crime.
A well told story of intense intrigue, with a fair number of surprises along the way. David and Ana's paths cross several times in strange happenstance, convincing Ana that David must be hunting her. Turns out, instead, that they are next door neighbors. In their fears, they have both become pawns in the games of others. They recognize the hurt in each other and become friends, and then more. But they will have to fight for their lives before they are safe to live normally again.

I am a huge fan of Lacey Kendrick and I have read all of her books. There isn't a book I don't love, but Broken Protector Next Door is my absolute favorite. The depth of the plot is what got my attention right away. This one felt different than her previous books. It was more intense and it took me by surprise with the way she wrote this one...in a good way. The book has so much action I just couldn't stop reading. The relationship between David and Ana didn't start off well, but somewhere along the way that changed. These two formed a bond that just came naturally once the air was cleared. The chemistry started out slow between them, but with each day it grew until it erupted like a volcano. The other characters were an important part of this book and helped me to see a different side of David and Ana. I felt more connected to them because I saw who they were outside of their troubled lives. Time is running out and they are going to need each others support just to survive another day. If you like your stories with a lot of action along with romance you may enjoy reading this book.

This is part of the Protector Series and I'm a huge fan of them all.
This was a Enemies to lovers and military Trope.
Ana has moved trying to escape her past. She is in hiding as she has been framed for a murder.
She is trying to find clues and the killer to clear her name.
She keeps bumping into this same man over and over again. Surely that can't be a coincidence, has someone found her from her past?
David is an ex Military and has so many demons from his army days. His PTSD is quite bad and it really affects him. He now works in a security company with his best friend Richard.
David is the poor guy that keeps bumping into Ana.
I do love the dynamic between these two it was so entertaining and funny.
As they both get closer things starts to make sense and they start to uncover things.
Can they really have relationship with all their baggage?
Will their past destroy their sizzling connection?
This was an excellent read with secrets, lies, twists and turns, Suspense, humour and hot moments.

Ana is on the run following the murder of her fiancé on the eve of their wedding. She believes that either his family or the authorities will believe that she was involved in him being killed (there are clues that seemingly point to her). She ends up starting life over and meets David. David is a veteran who is going through PTSD and has periods with flashbacks and blackouts. He is also involved in transporting of goods and he believes that everything there may not be on the up and up. Soon, they are both fighting to keep their heads above water and fighting for thier lives.
I liked both of these characters and how they both changed throughout the story. Ana really grew to be fierce and protective of herself and David. David also seemed to stabilize when he was around Ana. The story moves quickly and they are swept along with it, but they also make time to grow their relationship as friends and then more.

This story has everything that will make you love the story and the characters. There is Cartel violence, ex-soldier avenging his wife while protecting his daughter and the woman he loves.
Andres witnessed a horrible Cartel deal that went bad and she was dumb enough to steal and run from the Cartel. Well that never goes well for anyone. She is trying to start over and she’s met her grumpy neighbor Assad and his amazing daughter Ellie. She has a reason to be happy but her past is going to catch up with her and she doesn’t know what to do!
Assad has been mourning his wife for the past 10 years and he knows he can’t let the demons win for Ellie and now Andrea. She is the first woman he has cared about but she has secrets that could destroy them all.
Their story is intense, emotional, and quite entertaining. You will love the action and this story will keep on the edge of your seat. Happy Reading!!

This was a good story though I found it a little odd.
It was about Ana who ran after she was framed for killing her fiancee and finds into the arms ( so to speak) of David a transport driver.

David and Ana were both very broken with their own history to try to deal with a well as PTSD.
Their chemistry though shaky at first made the story fitting.

I thought this story had a little bit of everything a great romance needs. You will find love, suspense, and a mystery to be solved. Ana our main character is absolutely wonderful from the very beginning. She is involved in a great tragedy that changes her entire world right from the get go and must run from the only world she has ever known. Then she meets David and he helps her beyond words can describe. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did.

This thrilling story is filled with action-packed drama and suspense that kept me on the edge of my seat as I read it. When Ana’s fiancé is killed right in front of her his brother accuses her as the culprit who did the deed because of the blood on her. She meets David although their first meeting was a negative one they realize that they must learn to work together to unravel what is going on and keep themselves alive while doing it. Will they survive their task?

Ana is one the run for her life after witnessing her fiancé’s murder, and she settles in a small town. David is a broken veteran who is suffering from PTSD, and he and Ana end up as neighbours. This book had suspense, action, character growth and HEA. I enjoyed how Ana needed help but she wasn’t waiting for someone else to save her. David was trying to work a security job but had severe PTSD and relied on his buddy to help. When David isn’t having flashbacks he has a great attention for details and is very inquisitive. Together him and Ana need to find answers in order to save themselves. I didn’t want to stop reading this and I love how imperfectly perfect these two are.

Another enjoyable book by this author. After being set up, Ana runs following the murder of her fiancé. Settling in a small town she is initially unsure about her neighbour David, who is former military now suffering from PTSD. As they both deal with what life has thrown them they become closer - there is a good storyline, with twists and romance. Well worth reading.

I’ve been a fan of Lacey’s work for quite sometime now. She does a great job with her stories and plots - keeping them suspenseful but also giving you the love, passion and sexual tension between the hero & heroine. She does well with her steamy scenes by giving some details of their explosive scenes but doesn’t over tell or overly give graphic details of each action. She is a good mix of open door and leaving the rest to the imagination/implication. Some language but nothing over the top of over done. I’m always one that would love for no explicit language but in reality I find that it’s hard to avoid unless you really get picky with a genre and authors. 🤷🏻♀️
This story I have to say took me a little longer to get into it….partly due to flashbacks and trauma episodes that would appear and because I’m not knowledgeable in that area so I was learning in addition to following/keeping with the storyline BUT about the 4th chapter in, I was beginning to see the pieces of the puzzle start fitting together and couldn’t wait to see how it ended!! David is totally an alpha hero and reminded me a bit of a Jason Bourne type character. I didn’t think I would but I actually loved how his character developed and progressed over the course of the book. I loved Ana too - poor thing and what she had to deal with. Being able to figure out what had happened and find redemption through her new love & relationship with David was beautifully told.
All in all I highly recommend book! I love reading a suspense book when I start figuring out the details and then the ending throws you one last loop!
