Broken, indeed. David is a veteran suffering from PSTD, with a war buddy supporting him and working through his own issues. But David is barely keeping his head above water when our story begins. He finds himself in deeper trouble than he could have known as his life goes from struggling to fighting for his life.
Ana is on the threshold of marrying the oldest son of a wealthy and powerful family. Her fiance's brother is a tool, but then we also find out that her fiance is strung a bit too tight as well. Then Ana's life falls completely apart the night before her wedding when her fiance is murdered, in front of her, and she has to flee for her own life as well, certain that between the authorities and her fiance's family that she will be convicted of the crime.
A well told story of intense intrigue, with a fair number of surprises along the way. David and Ana's paths cross several times in strange happenstance, convincing Ana that David must be hunting her. Turns out, instead, that they are next door neighbors. In their fears, they have both become pawns in the games of others. They recognize the hurt in each other and become friends, and then more. But they will have to fight for their lives before they are safe to live normally again.
