A romantic suspense, slow-burn trilogy that will leave you aching for the next book as soon as you turn the final page!

The Broken Trilogy is about Caleb’s and Nyah’s destiny to fall in love. When circumstances try to pull them apart, can their love be enough, or will they lose each other forever?

Nyah Rodriguez is a single mother and the manager of the Lexington Hotel. Abandoned to an orphanage as a baby, she has built a secure life for herself and her son, Lucas, and she isn’t going to let some entitled jerk derail her.

Caleb Evans is the gorgeous heir to a business empire. Destined to take over one day, he must learn the ropes, and Nyah will be his teacher. But Caleb is not a man who takes instructions easily.

From the moment their paths cross, sparks fly. The spoiled playboy soon learns there’s at least one person in the world who’s not intimidated by him. But while their fiery working relationship turns to friendship and more, dark secrets from Nyah’s past threaten to overwhelm them.

Note: I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Note 2: This is a trilogy. Please read in order. Broken Promises is the first book. Broken Souls is the next one. Broken Hearts Healed is the third and final book in the trilogy.

Trigger Warnings: Racism, drug abuse, bullying, child abuse, murder, assault, deceit, infidelity, kidnapping, domestic abuse.

This novel was sure a heavy one. I mean sometimes it was so hard to wrap my head around everything going on. Too much going on, and intense feelings skyrocketing. It was definitely a storm and I did have to weather it.

Nyah and Caleb both have dark pasts, and despite their relationship being rocky and the same time movin on up, secrets still threaten their very relationship and it's only a matter of time before shit hits the fan.

And it did. Which will be explained in the next book - Broken Souls, already released.

And sometimes the characters often ended up making stupid choices, which I was not a fan of - I mean y'all are grown ass adults yet behave like confused teenagers.

Regardless, I ended up sympathizing a lot for Nyah and Caleb's situation, especially with how Caleb's mother kept coming for Nyah, and Nyah's past kept coming back for her -truly a hairaising situation.

And we'll see how the situation and plot twist that showed up in the first book goes in the second novel. The second novel, Broken Souls has already released, if you want to continue reading.

Until the next read,

-TMR

ARC review 4.5/🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This is a new to me author and I truly enjoy reading this book. It kept me turning pages from the start and I couldn’t put it down till I finished it.

Nyah had my heart hurting with her story as she tried to run away from her past but the past kept hunting her everywhere she turned. And Caleb, I loved him. As much as she wouldn’t admit her feelings for him he never gave up.

And that ending, OMG, I need more right away!!!

This is my first book from S.A. Thomas and definitely won’t be the last… literally since this amazing book is part of a trilogy.

Book One: Broken Trilogy is a suspense and romance wrapped into three books and book one was a perfect introduction to Nyah, a single mom with a dark past. She had been running, going through extremes to make sure traces of her past wouldn’t lead to her.
Then we met Caleb with a chip on his shoulder and out to prove that he was more than just the son and was capable on his own. There were circumstances that brought Nyah and Caleb together, which the reader would discover in the book.
This is a slow burn romance and the tension between these two characters was palpable and at time frustratingly slow, but I still loved it. It made the scenes between them highly anticipated.
Book one ends with a cliffhanger and secrets were revealed causing Nyah to do what she does best…run.

Sometimes what we see, isn't true ....
Sometimes what we speak , isn't true ...
Sometimes what we hear, isn't true...
And
Sometimes what we do, isn't true...
Therefore dreams, life, relationships, work left BROKEN. This is what happened in this story.

The first part of the BROKEN TRILOGY by first time author S.A THOMAS.

Story of Caleb Evans and Nyah Rodriguez ♥️.

Caleb , who undergoes to learn traits of business from nyah. Nyah who works as a general manager in a hotel owned by father of caleb ,Randal. Because of the different personality, different thinking they were opponent of each other in beginning , they came closer in middle and destiny or may be i can say some evil characters, parted there way in the end. But still story goes on.

As per my concern, I believe that if we read something so we started assuming scenes......this gonna happen and this can be true but this book take me to the another level of surprise that i have never imagined.

The buildungsroman character of Caleb I not only read with my eyes but I have seen it from my eyes. And yes I also imagined if I could be 10% of nyah .....independent, successful, confident single mother. Her past still haunts her but she always be prepared to face it. A beautiful captivating story which i truly truly enjoyed. Can't wait for the BROKEN SOULS.

This was an interesting read though it's a 3rd person perspective and I don't prefer books like that.
I find them difficult to read and enjoy as in 1st person.

But I definitely encourage you to read this trilogy - this is book 1 and book 2 will start where this one ends.

This is a new to me author before today and i absolutey enjoyed this book. As soon as i sat down i was devouring the pages and then it was over. The only thing i must say is the 3rd person perspective was a little difficult to get into, i dont usually read books like this but before long i didn't even notice so it was okay. I am looking forward to the next book, Broken Souls.
Thank you samantha for the copy of your Book. 😍

ARC Review - when the author reached out and asked if I would like an arc copy, after hearing the book description I happily said yes. This is my honest review.

This book is by far one of the most tension building, slow burn books I have read. Every time I thought things were going to get heated or the relationship develop BAM it smacked me in the kisser and said nope you can wait😂It is a low heat, sweet trilogy- this book is the first in the series. If you’re looking for something hot and steamy this isn’t it however if you are looking for tension building romantic moments and drama than here you go..

Our two leads are Caleb and Nyah and of course not forgetting Nyah’s son Lucas - who is the most adorable boy ever!! Caleb and Nyah have a hell of a rocky journey, they met as strangers, with an instant attraction, which within a few minutes turns to dislike but of course we all know what they say about love and hate.

Nyah is a single mum, working her butt off to give her son the best life and work her way to the top. She is a hotel general manager who isn’t afraid of hard work or getting her hands dirty. She has a dark past, that she is running from, she has her walls build so high that even her friends don’t know about her past or health concerns. She is beautiful, kind hearted and a feisty as hell!!

Caleb is a self righteous mummy’s boy in the beginning, thinks everything should be handed to him or a gold platter.. however as the book goes on he quickly realises he isn’t respected for who he is or what he does but who his dad is instead. He is desperate to prove himself to everyone and that means making changes.

The moments between Caleb band Lucas are just adorable!! There are so many sweet parts in this book.

Will these two fall in love or are they worlds apart?
Will the past come back to haunt Nyah?

My only problem with this book was some of the moment between Caleb and his mum (evil woman) without giving anything away I do think he was too quick to let her thoughts haunt his own. That could be him being his mums favourite or parts of the person he used to be still there.

I very much am looking forward to book two.. especially after that cliffhanger!! Definitely leaves us wanting more!

“If I were an attractive waitress,” she growled, “you’d be rubbing a handprint from your cheek right about now.”

This book is absolutely captivating. I could hardly tear myself away once I began reading. The first book in The Broken Trilogy, Broken Promises by S. A. Thomas kept me up reading all night. I’ll admit, this book was out of the norm for me. As a reader of mostly fantasy and paranormal books, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. This book did not disappoint.

Nyah is this amazing woman! She is a strong willed, hard working single mother. An empowered female main character always draws me in. She shows total commitment to her son, Lucas, and makes it clear her priorities are him. Her interactions with even minor characters show so much depth to her personality. And Caleb? He had me feeling so many different emotions. One moment I could be disgusted with his actions and be fawning over him the next. Their dynamic together was wonderful. The slow burn of their relationship had me on the edge of my seat!

The story flowed freely. None of the major or minor plots seemed rushed or crammed in. The writing left me desperate to continue on and put all of the pieces together. The heart twisting turns this plot took nearly left me in tears. I’m very glad to have taken the time to read this wonderful debut novel.

I love writing reviews for books right after I finish them. The words that come out may not make total sense, but they have emotion in them lol. It's only January 5th as of when I'm writing this review, but this is one of my favorite books of the year so far. It is my favorite read of the adult romance genre.
The characters in this story are what made it so strong. The plot on its own is pretty good, but the characters made it great. This is going to be a part of a series, so I hope we're able to get to know a bit more about the side characters on Nyah's "side". The side characters on Caleb's side had a bit more page time, so I feel like I was able to consider them a bit more 3D.
It did not hinder my rating, but I would have also liked a bit more understanding of why the villain was the villain. The reader was told a lot about how bad of a person he was in Nyah's old life and he did a lot of bad things in the story. I would have liked a bit of a why, but I think that "control" was just implied.
Because of how well-written the characters were, it put me on such an emotional rollercoaster. The ending especially, but this is spoiler-free so I'm keeping my mouth shut so you can read the story and figure it out yourself.
Because I'm super impatient, I'm glad that the next book is scheduled to come out in February 2022 and the final in March 2022.

Nyah didn't grow up living a privileged life, but has built a secure one for herself and her son. When the future owner of her job, Caleb, comes in to learn about the business, she's ready to show she's not intimated by him. However, they both soon find sparks flying, and truths from the past coming back.

Nyah was a strong female lead and I loved her character. From the start, she is strong willed and doesn't take BS from anyone. Caleb is a playboy, and while I don't typically enjoy books with those types of men, this one was the exception. Caleb had some development in the story and didn't rub me the wrong way immediately with over the top cocky attitude.

The pacing was perfect and you get enough details to understand everything without being bogged down with them. This book does have triggers, so please mind those and keep in mind this will end on a cliffhanger!

This book has amazing tension building and a great slow burn relationship.
Caleb and Nyah have a long journey as they fall in love and it was lovely to read about them - and of course, about Lucas, Nyah's adorable son!
Nyah does her best to give her son the best life possible, despite the hardships of being a single mom and she went through a lot, but never syopped fighting! She was a very strong protagonist!
Caleb hads a lot of development through the book, going from being a spoiled-brat to realising that he must prove himself to everyone and change for the best!
The ending was mindblowing and I can't wait to read the next one!

Broken Promises by SA Thomas
A romantic suspense, slow-burn trilogy that will leave you aching for the next book as soon as you turn the final page!

Romantic Suspense - 334 Pages

Nyah has been hiding from her abusive foster father. She’s changed her name, location, and job. Everything seems to be going to plan. Nyah’s boss wants his rich, playboy son to learn the business but he thinks he can just take over, but Nyah has news for him. This is her job and he won’t be taking it from her. Can the two work together? Will Nyah’s past stay there? What about these feelings growing between her and Caleb?

This novel is definitely a slow burn romance, which a lot of suspense and drama. It took me a while to read because I saw the synopsis for books 2 and 3 which gave away the ending for this book. If you’re wanting a happy ending with book one then I suggest you not read this, but if you want well built characters, a great story line, and love drama/suspense then you WILL want to read this book.

I definitely recommend this for the adult reader. There’s not any spice, but plenty of adult content. Mentions of past abuse, sexual assult, and kidnapping.

I rate this 5 / 5 Stars.

ARC review - when the author offered me to review this book I gladly accepted it because of Slow Burn Romance .

NEVER BREAK: HEARTS, PROMISES & TRUST! ...this bookcover phrase does perfect justice to the story inside it's pages .

I don't usually read slow burn but the way this book is written it kept me intrigued through every chapter it held .
WARMTH is the feeling this book gave me from the start the emotions entwined into this book forces you not let go of this book .
What I loved most about this book was this book is utterly realistic it gives you a complete normal realistic love vibes .

I always love a strong female character and Nyah is just her she's feirce , bold , keeps her point straight she's a survivor and a fighter .

On the other hand Caleb is a rich spoiled brat who sees nothing than himself and trust me when I say you'll enjoy it when he's set straight by our feirce queen 😂.

This book is slow burn but when the romance starts its adorable and makes you smile...gives you Butterfies....blush in awww and you want to be Nyah .

I loved this book and I can say I can read slow burn romance now because of this book.
Also this book leaves you on a cliffhanger when Nyah and Caleb are torn apart and it broke my heart reading it I so wanted them to be together 😩
I'm so excited for what's coming into the next part of the book hopping onto it right away .

This is a genre I don’t read a lot of but I really enjoyed this slow burn romance story.
As a debut book it’s very well done.
The first half of the book where Nyah and Caleb first meet and the antagonistic behaviour from Caleb and way Nyah acted towards him was such a fun read.
I was interested to read about Nyah’s back story and we ended up finding out some of how she go to where she is today.
I found it a maybe a little bit extended in the middle but the last chapters had me madly reading to see what was going to happen.
This ends on a cliffhanger so be prepared to want the second book to see where these characters go.

Broken Promises - S.A. Thomas

ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.

::: SPOILER-FREE REVIEW :::

Rating: 4 STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is my first @sathomas.author . This is also her debut. I started following Samantha on Instagram and she's a sweetheart. I heard all about this book from different bookstagrammers. I also heard that this was a slow burn... I'm not normally a fan of those but I had to read it. 😉

LET ME START BY SAYING THAT THIS IS A WONDERFUL DEBUT! ❤

The story follows Nyah. She is a single mum, working hard to give her son a good life. She has a dark past and has her walls build that no one knows about it... not even her friends.

Caleb is mummy’s boy in the beginning but as the book goes on he quickly realises that he wasn't respected for who he is but who his father is instead. Now he is trying to make a change and desperate to prove himself to everyone.

I REALLY enjoyed this book.

We've all been there... looking for something to read. Craving a certain type of book... something special... something guaranteed to make you feel good. You know the ones - the stories you can lose yourself in. The ones that’ll pull you in right from the start, with characters who will win your heart, completely.

Well, that’s the kind of story I was looking for, and that’s exactly what S.A. Thomas delivered with Broken Promises. ❤

My only complaint with this book is that it takes forever for anything to happen.

It is a slow burn after all... for serious though. I wanted more steam lol

It also ends with a cliffhanger and now I need book 2 ASAP!!

If you have not read this book, you truly must. This is one of those books that will just make you feel everything. One you won’t forget.

I cannot recommend this enough.

I always start love novels with my eyes already rolled. They’re too cheesy, too unrealistic, too sappy. BUT NOT THIS ONE. S.A. Thomas knocks it out of the park, out of the city, then out of the time zone with her novel Broken Promises, a slow burn romance novel. The ending did me in, thankfully part 2 is already out. My review doesn’t do it justice. It has an extra special place in my heart because the main character is a female GM in a fancy hotel. After 20 years in the hospitality industry (bar/restaurant/hotel) the image she painted of hotel life was spot on!!

ARC reviews.

I received this an arc and this is my first ever arc. First of all i love LOVED Caleb’s character development. He was an ick for me for few early chapters but as i continue to read he slowly become a good person.

Along with Nyah who is such a strong woman and such a good mother towards lucas. Just one thing i’m not quite fond is when Nyah always made her own assumptions without even hearing from Caleb yet.

The same thing goes for Caleb, they had a lot of miscommunication and third act breakups. Also this might be a pregnancy trope as well which not my favourite trope, i hated it in fact. But i really do enjoyed the book and as the ending was a cliffhanger, I can’t wait to start the next one immediately.

Such an amazing book!!! An enemies to lovers contemporary romance that leaves you turning the pages so fast and wanting more. This is a slow burn, not spicy but sweet!

Nyah is a single mom to Lucas who is running from her dark past. But she soon realizes that her past keeps hunting her down. She works hard for a better life for them both and keeps her secrets hidden from all.

Caleb has always had everything handed to him until he realizes he has to work for respect and others to see him proving himself.

There is so much suspense, angst and push and pull between Nyah and Caleb. Once things start progressing I love how their relationship is going especially the moments between Caleb and Lucas. But will their pasts come back and keep them apart? Can Nyah keeps her secrets hidden?

This book ends on a cliffhanger and I can’t wait for the second book to come out and see where it’s going to take us!

There was a lot to process here! The secrets, the lies, the intrigue?! Sounds like a line from a movie trailer I know but, 100% accurate for this book!
It did start out a little on the slower side as far as the plot advancing and the relationship between Caleb and Nyah but, if you hang in there it definitely picks up in the second half of the book. Much of the beginning seemed to be adding more of the foundation for Caleb growing and changing; showing a new side to himself that not many thought he was capable of. We also learn bits about Nyah’s past. How she got to where she is and a little bit of the why behind some her closed off behavior.
Caleb took a bit to grow on me but, I think he is supposed to be that type of character. I liked that he worked to prove himself. Not just for the benefit of others but, also himself. He also worms his way into Nyah’s heart in the process.
Nyah is strong and determined but, she has secrets that she hasn’t shared with anyone. Always looking over her shoulder while trying to maintain her own life doesn’t seem to be easy. Especially trying to have a sort of love life. The angst between Nyah and Caleb is pretty intense but, keeps building throughout. There are so many miscues, miscommunications, and a lot of false starts for them leading up to them having a relationship but, I think that progressed with the pace of the story.
This story was detailed, well-written, and kept you in suspense!
*Cliffhanger alert! This is first in a series.*

I received this as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

BROKEN PROMISES

Blurb :

Nyah Rodriguez a young vibrant woman and a single monther meets Caleb Evans the heir of a buisness empire. The "Do you know who I am" attitude if him gets on her nerve. Fate plays and he is under the supervision of Nyah. As a respectable and intelligent woman she inculcates good virtue in him and shows him a mirror of who he really is.
Love ignites and sparks fly between them. Her beautiful little life gets another bond and she see her son Lucas getting attached to Caleb.
But Nyah keeps her wall up and never let him in her dark past. She falls in love with him but still not enough to trust him with her secrets.
But when she was finally able to come out of her cage, fate takes turn and problems, misunderstanding, cruel people play game in their lives.
Will they be able to get together? What secrets do Nyah hold on to?

My Thoughts :

Idk why, but I always like this spoiled brat understanding and learning things. I like the transformation of a person being obvious and they knowing the person behind all the changes.
This was a really good story and I loved how the author made me connect easily with the characters. I loved the characters that are meant to be loved and hate those with utterly cruel motives. The thing is, she made it possible to connect me with her thoughts.
I loved all of Caleb and Nyah. And the secrets, love, motherhood, pain, the constant fear, it was all so much relatable. I could literally feel her and it made the book so touching.
Another cliffhanger! Yeah! It's a trilogy! These authors always likes to leave we readers in a cliffhanger!!!!!! Just tell me whyyyyy.
It's slowww slowwww slowwww romance. If you guys can not lose your patience and not yell at the characters saying, "Just kiss already!!!"
Please read this already!!!!!
I assure you your hearts are supposed to be broken and you'll be asking for the next book! And don't worry the trilogy is out!

I am officially hooked, and waiting impatiently for the next book in this series. S.A. Thomas has written these two characters that are so good for each other. She calls him out on his rich, spoiled boy ways, but he shows her he can be so much more than that. Nyha is running from an abusive past, and finding it hard to be accepted in his world. Caleb is learning to leave his old partying ways, and becomes the man his parents want him to be. It seems that no matter how right they are for each other, circumstances and people keep pulling them apart. This book will pull at your heart, and have you so mad at certain characters that you could just spit nails!!

A lot to unpack with this book.

Nyah and Caleb’s story is unusual since I have to say for most of the book I couldn’t stand him and wanted her to not end up with him. He is the supreme alpha hole. Forced to work together and she in my opinion was too good for him. Or for that matter some of his family. She is strong and independent but her past is hard to read and it puts more of suspenseful edge to the book.

Tamer on the steam level but the ending to the book has me intrigued to read the next two books.

Broken Promises is an exceptional effort from first time author, S.A. Thomas, that will keep you interested until the very end.

The story is well written, captivating and enthralling. It is a low heat, sweet contemporary romance with a tension building plot that doesn’t disappoint.

So much can happen when you have a rich entitled man, an adorable kid, and strong willed women whose only hope is for a better life.

There is so much angst between Nyah and Caleb that continues throughout the book. Even if their relationship was doomed from the beginning, their chemistry and desire grow stronger every day. Like two opposite poles their relationship is constantly pushed and pulled by their own insecurities and intervening forces beyond their control.

There are a lot of secrets, a hefty amount of suspense and a roller coaster of emotions going on within this book. This author delivers a great first book to start this trilogy off perfectly. I really don't want to say too much and give away any plot points accidentally. The blurb gives you all that you need to know going into this book. We are left hanging at the end of this one but thankfully, we won’t be left dangling over the edge too long.

I highly recommend this to all romance suspense fans.

Enemies

This tends to be a bit of a long drawn out story. To say that you're going to fall in love or even like your bosses child when they come around is hard push. Put up with the amount of scrutiny and such that goes on within the owners family itself is enough to drive you mad so good luck and happy reading

This was such a fun read.

Note: I received this as an ARC read for the third and final book in this trilogy (Broken Promises, Broken Souls, Broken Hearts Healed). I also want to add I do not typically read co-worker romance, though I am no stranger to enemies to lovers.

Nyah is a plain talker and straight shooter. In both her career as the manager of a prominent hotel and as a single mother to her son Lucas, Nyah strives for perfection in the form of order and stability. With a rocky past most of those around her are not aware of, her head is on a constant swivel. Despite this, she was never saw the new man that waltzed into her life coming. However, if you asked Nyah, it wasn’t so much ‘waltzed in’ as it was ‘slammed in like a wreaking ball’.

Enter Caleb. A luxury living, entitled, party boy that has been dealt a wake up call. As a member of the Evans family, Caleb is expected to take part in his family’s empire. His father Randall, the hotel’s owner, has appointed him as a new VP of Operations alongside Nyah in hopes that she will be able to prime him for his future role at Headquarters. Unfortunately for Caleb, he has failed at making a positive first impression when meeting Nyah. Second chances may be bought in his world, but not in Nyah’s.

Both characters have a past they’d like to overcome but can’t seem to escape from. With his questionable and reckless reputation, Caleb must work hard prove his changed ways in order to be taken seriously (to his staff, co-workers, clientele and family). The only way he can do so is by learning from the fiery and determined Nyah. Desperate to redeem himself, Caleb sets his sights on doing whatever he can to change her mind about him.

Neither of the pair can deny their attraction to one another though they do their best to ignore it. However, self sabotage and denial aren’t the only obstacles. Outside forces, different backgrounds and old friends and foes pose a significant threat to their developing connection.

I am a sucker for an ‘us against the world’/‘I will fight for this’ trope. Watching the two navigate through their separate lifestyles and pasts while slowly, and perhaps unconditionally, forging a new path together is both realistic and beautiful. The personalities are like oil and water but both give/adapt just enough for them to make perfect sense. They are both products of their past which accounts for Nyah’s mistrust/paranoia and Caleb’s ‘every day world’ arrogance. At first, neither of them were particularly enjoyable. It initially felt like Nyah was a controlling workaholic and overbearing mother and Caleb was a cocky, oblivious, rich boy. However, I truly loved the development of these two both individually and together.

If you’re looking for instant acceptance in terms of their budding romance and Nyah’s instant/immediate acceptance into Caleb’s world - this isn’t the book for you. It’s a slow burn romance. I also feel it’s important to highlight Nyah’s struggles finding her place amongst Caleb’s friends/family because it gives Caleb insight into just how blind he was to his previous judgements and behaviors. Not many people walk around with open minds and hearts. On the flip side, Caleb’s experience entering Nyah’s life but hitting her wall when it comes to her past is also important.

I will add here that the ending is less of a cliffhanger and more of a bomb drop! I didn’t see it coming.

I definitely recommend this book and can’t wait to read what happens next.
