Update: @ Ch.114

It needs to be said.

But mere words won't get my point across so ever helpful gifs it is.

Ugh! I can't believe it but I'm rooting for the Prince. Slimy, conniving, cruel, dislikable bastard that he is.

Super fun read! I think I love manhwa so much and this series specifically. Therefore it felt that picking up this series again after a month or so was refreshing.

Gorgeous colouring as always and amazing world building. Interesting to see how the relations grow between Aristia and the boys she meets through the few months we see in this volume.

Still a bit odd that two guys happen to be pining over her, just saying but it seems there are no other females her age in this story? Literally it's only Aristia and Lina (her maid-type server) as the only two girls/women as part of the story. Wonder if that will change sooner or never!

Nevertheless, its always sweet to see Aristia and her father's interactions as they grow their familial love 🥺❤️

SPOILER Y OPINION 100% FANGIRL INCONGRUENTE Y MAL ESCRITA:

Sein is my new favorite character in this series! He's a sword prodigy, but he's unapologetically himself: brash, rash and honest. I love the trio's jealousy and dynamics once he's introduced. Tia is still trying to break the cycle of her fate.

I dropped this book midway. I got a spoiler for book 4, and it crushed all of my happy and optimistic feelings for this series.

I waited for book 4 to come out in order to confirm the ending before permanently dropping this series.

Yeah. It was true. I can’t give a full review on Part 3 because I can’t bring myself to pick up this story again to finish it- because I know the ending.

So I’m giving it 3 stars. It has hints of the ending showing through which ruined my enjoyment at the time- because it was showing that the story was going in a direction that I couldn’t even imagine was an OPTION.

So yeah. Not good or bad.

SPOILER:

*She ends up with the Prince. The abusive rapist who not only treated her like utter shit, but who: executed her, sexually abused her, and blamed her for getting pregnant and ruining his perfect relationship with the wife he really ‘loved’.

People can argue that he’s ‘changed’ because he hasn’t done anything yet. I will say that I can sympathize with the currant him feeling like crap because she’s scared of him because he HASN’T done much yet- But that doesn’t change who he is at his core- even in this new timeline we learn that he hated her because the people around him admired her and thought they were always comparing them- without ever even really talking to her or bothering to get to know her! Because of his insecurities, he felt justified in vilifying and hating another person- and taking out his frustration and anger on them. That’s the kind of person he is.

Of course, once she shows that she doesn’t want him he’s suddenly interested and wants to know why a woman couldn’t possibly want him and all his power. Only THEN does he bother to get to know her at all- and only her constant refusals keep him invested or interested in knowing her.

Ugh.

I thought this series was about a woman overcoming her abuse, learning to love and value herself, all the while finding her place in the world and someone who would truly love her.

I was wrong.*

I continue to enjoy this series' combination of candy-colored shoujo-like art and undercurrent of psychological horror. This manhwa story was based on a series of novels, and I wonder how well I'd like it in its original form, since my appreciation relies a lot more on the art and the characters' facial expressions than it does on characterization, which is scant, or the court intrigue, which I'm struggling to understand.

In this volume, Arisita is engaged to be married to Ruveliss, with an accompanying train of baggage that seems quite heavy for a twelve-year-old to be taking on. Possibly being relegated to consort rather than empress; or her father breaking off the engagement so Aristia can take on a knight's mantle and inherit his title; or the perhaps-inevitable arrival of Jieun. She is trying to distance herself from Ruveliss, for obvious reasons. When she tells Allendis her time-looping secret, he disbelieves her. Rassein and her father seem to be firmly on her side, which is a marked improvement from the isolation of her previous life.

I know it's possible that my lack of experience with time-loop villainess stories is making me enjoy this more than it deserves, but it's fun and suspenseful to not know where this going or how things will turn out. Well, I've gotten "the" major spoiler for the story, but don't have the faintest idea of how we get there. The small handful of reviews I've read (where I got spoiled in the first place) expressed displeasure either with how the build-up to that was handled, or that it happened at all.

(Looking at the covers of the volumes after 5, I don't recognize any of these other girls/women, and they're... smiling?? is this the same story?)

We'll see! For now, I'm eagerly anticipating the next volume and plan to pre-order it as soon as it becomes available. It continues to be a delight as a physical object, with beautiful full-color art throughout, and light foil filigree on the cover.

Plot: Reincarnated Noblewoman's quest to keep herself alive this time around is complicated by all the alliances (and potential romances) she makes in this life.

1. The best panel in this entire volume is the one with the actual carrot and actual weed yelling at each other in lieu of their human counterparts. It was hilarious and I don't see how the author will ever top it.

2. The romantic relationship continues to be interesting, mostly because it's more about small concessions than it's about grand gestures. That one bit where Ruve and Tia show up in hilariously mismatched outfits because they were trying to match what the other person had previously decided on was great.

3. The Bitchy Princess Squad (tm) is the mostly the usual kind of romantic rival who really stands no chance at all drama and was mostly cliche. Props to the author for the thing though- that was both new and relevant to the story. Also props for two of the bitchy princess squad being neither bitchy nor a romantic rival. Let women have ambitions beyond romance 2k20!

But seriously, I like how competent both Ruve and Tia are; they are both how do I put it- manipulative but in a way that comes across as asserting authority in polite ways rather than leveraging people into positions they don't necessarily want to be in (Hello, Allendis). Not that the latter is a bad thing, but the way these two handle problems shows how in-sync they are when it comes to motivations and methods it's great I do love a hypercompetent romantic interests story.

4. Speaking of hypercompetent romantic interests, Allendis had a lot of things happening to (and because of) him this volume. I like how when he confessed, Tia didn't let him slither out of being rejected. His rage and him lashing out afterwards and then feeling guilty is pretty cool, story-wise. I'd like it if he wasn't confined to that bus for all of the rest of the story, though. (I just want him and the Carrot to make out is that too much to ask?)

5. I ship Aristia's two noblewomen friends the same way I ship weedcarrot. Ie, in a lowkey but passionately lowkey.

6. Industrial revolution and moneymaking subplots. T_T I love them and I can never get enough of them. Tell me more about the economics of your fantasy world, please.

7. I'd like to note that all the flashback romances are great and I really ship the redheaded duke with the King's sister there was this whole scene where he went on a kill assassins spree and she walked in and he's all like "omg the princess is gonna faint" and she was just irritated about getting blood on her gloves and he IMMEDIATELY gets heart eyes it was hilarious and wonderful. Give me my bitchy ice-queens and their puppy-like devoted love interests.

ALSO.
Political Advisor's Duke's Dad and Political Advisor Duke's Wife's Dad: haha then that's decided none of that whirlwind romance for us our kids are in an ARRANGED MARRIAGE based entirely on political considerations we're smart people yo.
Political Advisor Duke and Wife: our whirlwind romance is now an engagement EXACTLY as planned.

Tia's parents are the least interesting part of the whole thing, mostly because I like my relationships with a side order of hilarity. But I do appreciate how it's plot-relevant. This story is tightly plotted in general.

8. shows up right when Tia thinks she's got this rebirth thing in the bag and it's predictable plotwise but you're invested enough in Tia and her emotional stressors that it genuinely feels like a major blow. Additional points for

9. Ngl the author's been great at emotional beats so far so I really want to see how they handle the whole subplot. It's not generally something that comes across too well because it's too handwavey and does a lot of absolution of jerkass behavior but hey this has been a nuanced story so far and I expect that to continue.

Season 3 chapters 87-117 complete and
Oh my gosh, CHILLS!
At the start I was just getting closer and closer to ripping off Allendis' head. He was definitely not in his right mind set the closer he was getting to Tia. I'm kind of glad he could stop himself from becoming a danger to her even more than he already had.
Carsein is just such a sweetie. When his accident had occurred I really did hope that it would be nothing because Carsein deserved the world. Serious protect this precious kid.
Now the real matter.
Jieun is back. She looks like she's gone through some stuff. I wonder what exactly had happened in the past after Tia had been beheaded... It doesn't look like it was such a happy ending after all.
I stan this holy priest though! He's not only very cute but he seems to be meddling in just the right circumstances. I really appreciate his appreance causing such changes in this new timeline.

The artwork is gorgeous - Tia always has very elaborate outfits, though sometimes the pattern is too busy for my taste.

Story wise…hm. Allen is rather obsessive and has a darker side than she’s seen. I do think it’s ridiculous that she doesn’t consider how inappropriately close she behaves with him, and that she discounts the extreme, obvious fact that Carsein and he may have an interest in her. She’s not a true 12 year old, after all. Any person who lived in the palace should have a better grasp of people.

The scene with Ruve confused me, because it felt like there was something missing. I didn’t understand why he suddenly started talking about making her an imperial consort. He seems very wary of her for no reason, as if she’s dangerous in some way. Clearly they have a past that will eventually be revealed.

The kerfuffle with Allen was rather sudden. His disbelief triggered her past memories, and seriously damaged their relationship. Although a crazy story, it’s odd for Allen to decide it was all made up. Rather elaborate take just to deflect him, no?

Where did her imperial guards go?

Despite the beautiful art, I don’t rate the storytelling especially high. It’s slightly sloppy on details, and there are certain things (like Allen’s extra-obsession with Tia) that just pop up without much hint before.

Idk how to review the book anymore. I'm having mixed emotions and I don't know which side to take...

Ok, so there is this girl, Aristia, that was "born" to be an empress. From an oracle, people knew that she would be the future empress. Since young, she held all these responsibilities and learn how to be an empress. So this girl closed off all her emotions and tried to be the "best" empress.
But everything changed when this mysterious girl from another world suddenly came to her world. Basically the prince fell in love with that girl and she was abandoned. The title literally. She was demoted into a queen BUT she will still need to take responsibilities of an empress! The new girl was useless and can't do anything, but the Prince still loves her. It's so frustrating when I knew about it!
Fast forward she died because of slanderous matters and the prince hated her so there was no second chance. Ironically, there were hints that the prince is gonna change, for the better. When Arisita died, she went back in time to when she was 10 yrs old. With her old memories, she feared the prince and tried to get love from her dad and people who cared about her.

BUT WHO KNEW THAT THE GIRL FROM THE OTHER WORLD ALSO WENT BACK IN TIME WITH HER MEMORIES!! UGHH SO FRUSTRATING...

In our journey with Aristia and her second chance at life, we see how everything is different from her first time, and how things have changed around her because she changed. We see her evolve and grow, just like everyone around her, and just when things are starting to look better for her, her past (or future) comes back to haunt her again.

I like how insightful the prince becomes, and how he sees in himself just how things could have gone wrong because he had been immature and jealous, and if things had been different, he acknowledges that he would have been cruel to Aristia, but now he knows better, and that give us hope. We learn a lot of how things became as they were the first time around, and see how different things are this time, but we still don't know how things are going to end.

For a moment it looked like a reverse harem with all the love interests after Aristia, but we have one less to worry about, even if it was painful to see, and now it comes down to two, but I really don't know who would be better, for both are perfect in their own ways. I have to say, the character development is really good.

All the drama in this series and in this book is addicting to read. I just don’t want to put the books down. I have my own feelings toward each of the characters, some I like and some I have negative feelings toward. I really like Carsein, he is very funny and if there is romance in the future for the FL, I hope it’s Carsein. He is very simple and actually cares for the FL. I have a hard time with Allen because he seems to be an opportunist, he doesn’t seem to care about the FL as much as he cares about getting ahead and using her to do it. Of course the prince I also have negative feelings for, he still treats her with distrust and makes plans that he won’t make her his #1. He is cold and calculating, I just wish he would go away or do a 180 and change. All the knights in the FL’s home and her dad, they are all so sweet and look out for her and support her. I just love the cute family dynamic.

I always have a hard time starting a volume in this series for some strange reason, but when I start reading it I can’t put it down. I love the art and the story so much! I’m eagerly anticipating volume 4’s release because there are so many good plot points going in volume 3. The budding love triangle between Tia, Allende, and Carsein, is it a love rectangle if you throw the crown Prince in?? Tia’s heir announcement and the drama between the Emperor and her father that will likely ensue. Plus, we just know what’s her face is waiting to show up as well!

But beyond the story, the art is so good as well. I love the little reaction faces when silly things happen. Especially Tia’s when she gets new imperial guards who watch her VERY closely.

This manhwa has all the beauty of the best magical girl stories with fantastic historical Versailles drama. Still a recommend!

I actually like that Tia can’t move on with her feelings for Ruve. I think its very realistic that you just cant “unlove” the person you love so much in the previous life just because you got reborn. Although I must say I am a bit disappointed that there wasn’t much HATRED in Tia for Ruve at all.

Another thing I disliked is that after 3 years she can’t come up with an idea on how to get the imperial family to allow her to retire from the crown princess position. I dont mind if she cant actually do nothing at all about the situation but the problem is, she’s the one running as the kingdom as an Empress in the previous life yet he cant do nothing at all?? It doesn’t add up.

Still 5 stars though, very interesting.

i am stressed… my heart hurts for tia. she’s trying so hard to fix the past and she has so much to loose.. idk how she’s doing it. i’d be paralyzed with fear 💔

i don’t trust allendis, there’s something sketchy going on. like he’s playing a long game to manipulate her or something like that. carsein seems like a genuinely sweet kid under the hard exterior. but, the crown prince?? he’s surprising me a little, he seems so much softer. he is so much younger tho..

i’m so so glad her dad took her away, she needed some space from everything. their relationship makes my heart so happy ❤️

ohh but what’s “the vow” and why can tia’s dad remarry??? 👀 i’m so curious, i can’t wait to get my hands on the next book!!
