Livia Applewhite needs a change. Her awful boss has made the job she used to love a serious drag. On top of that, it seems everyone around her is paired off in romantic bliss. It's enough to give a girl a complex. Hoping a change of scenery will give her new perspective, she sets off for a two-week trip to Tennessee to visit her favorite cousin.
It's been more than a decade since Declan Callahan has thought about anything but being a dad. But when his extensive (and meddling) foster family wrangles him into a "chance" encounter with the first love he had to leave behind, he's wise enough not to waste it. He's got a long-overdue apology to make.
But as that apology opens a door long shut, Livia and Declan give in to the spell of nostalgia, basking as all those old feelings kindle anew. They're fully grown now, with lives in different places. Will this brief encounter be enough to convince Livia to give the undeniable connection between them a real second chance?
Kait Nolan is a RITA® Award-winning Mississippi author who calls everyone sugar, honey, or darlin', and can wield a 'Bless your heart' like a Snuggie or a saber, depending on requirements. She believes in love, laughter, and that tacos are the world's most perfect food. When she's not writing, reading, working the evil day job, or wrangling family (both the two-legged and the four-), you can find her obsessively watching The Great British Bake Off.
Livia and Declan had a summer romance that ended with him ghosting her. Fastforward 12 years and they meet again. I have mixed feelings about this book. While I love a good second chance romance, I felt like Declan didn't really grow up or learn from how he ghosted - treated Livia. I love the Misfit series and seeing the characters from previous books. I love how this author writes but this one just made me irritated. However, the ending as well as Declan's daughter Scarlet made the book.

This is book 5 in Kait Nolan’s The Men of the Misfit Inn series. The series is best enjoyed in order. While I normally do spoiler-free reviews, I had a few concerns and they’re at the end.
Cute single dad, second chance romance novella. Declan & Livia had a budding relationship 12 years ago when Declan’s ex shows up pregnant. Unfortunately Declan just ghosts Livia and she has no idea what happened or why.
When they meet up again those old sparks fly. Their rekindling was sweet. I would have liked more time with Scarlett and Livia interacting since one of my favorite aspects of single parent is the new love bonding with the child. I enjoyed the ending and epilogues.
Spoilers:
Narration: Amy McFadden was fun to listen to again. She’s always great at brining Nolan’s characters to life. Ari & Scarlett especially were a lot of fun here.

I’m a big fan of Kait Nolan. And second chance romances are my favorite. This one was mostly really good. But then we get a hero who loses the girl a second time by making the same mistake he made 12 years ago (as an 18 year old) and I wanted to throw my AirPods across the room. 😠
Thankfully, narrator Amy McFadden is always great.
This was a sweet second chance romance. I know Declan hated how much he hurt Livia when they were 18, falling in love, and then ghosting her. Now over ten years later Declan is moving back to where he grew up in Tennessee to work around his family. Declan wanted his eleven year old daughter to be around her cousins. The same time he came to town for the annual festival, Livia decided to visit her cousin Abby as she was unhappy with her job in Wishful. I loved Scarlett and her cousin with all the the advice they gave Declan, especially about seeing Livia and apologizing to her from the past. It was so sweet how neither one had stopped loving the other. The two were getting to know each other when a big problem for Declan came up. I encourage you to read the book. I was given a copy and voluntarily wrote a review.
First of all, I love any opportunity to visit Eden’s Ridge and/or Wishful. I feel like I know all of the characters personally and I am invested in their lives more so than I probably should be with fictional people lol. That in and itself is a testament to Kait’s writing, she creates people and places that feel so real. I was born and raised in a small southern town, and have spent the majority of my adult life in several different small southern towns. This whole series makes me feel at home. I absolutely adored Declan, Livia and Scarlett. I’m pretty sure Scarlett is in training to become Ari’s protégé, and let me tell you, I am here for it lol. I loved catching up with all of Joan’s misfits and seeing where they are in their lives, and watching them welcome their brother back home. I will never tire of this group of characters and the way they interact with one another. This is absolutely another win for Kait Nolan.
We are going to start off by saying that we love second chance romance reads and for Livia and Declan they both got a raw deal years ago but, it's time for Declan to clear the air between them and apologize for his part in not following through with a future he planned with his woman.
If we are being honest we have mixed feelings about this book. The reason things went so awry with Livia & Declan is that something happened years ago and it was one life changing event for Declan and he was young and scared and trying to do the right thing which is commendable and we loved and admired the man for those things alone. When even telling his story and apologizing to Livia she understood and she had her closure she might even forgive the man and move on or even realize that she still feels something for him. We just felt that his apology wasn't enough because he had the means to reach out to that woman over the years time and time again to explain himself and his actions and give them both some kind of closure years ago. but did not yet claim that she was the best thing to happen to him. In the present he has the opportunity for a second chance and it's clear he hasn't learned a thing from his past mistakes once again he is creating more heartache all over again.
Livie was a sweetheart bright and caring and had a beautiful soul and deserved more respect and honesty from the man who claims to be everything he wants.
The story for us was good but, we felt that something was lacking and missing and if we are being honest there was something about Declan that just fell short we liked him but, didn't love him and for us that the rub of it. For us the best part of a story is falling in love with our characters that we are reading about. Even though our thoughts were mixed we felt that Declan's daughter made the deciding factor on whether overall we enjoyed the story or one that just wasn't our cup of tea. She was such a sweetheart and encouraged and supported her father to find his own happiness. A daughters love is oh, so powerful...
Declan Callahan and his foster brother, Mick Routledge are commiserating at the wedding party of two sets of newlyweds. His brother is shocked that Declan hasn’t dated in years. But then again, Declan is raising his daughter by himself. Declan avoids Abbey because he dated her cousin years ago and ghosted her. Joan Reynolds had been a foster parent to Dec and Mick and loads of others in the town. They all missed her. For over 20 years she had managed to build a massive extended family with unshakable ties that had lasted long beyond her unexpected death a few years before due to a car accident. Declan’s daughter, Scarlett, is a riot throughout the book. I love her. She doesn’t let having hearing aids stop her from living a normal life. In fact, she eavesdrops with the other kids in the family all the time, causing problems when they get together. Think glitter bomb. Lol
Livia is Abbey’s cousin and she is coming to help out the orchard the family owns for the festival. It takes a lot from the family on both sides to get Livia and Declan to just talk to each other. Livia’s brother Jace, doesn’t need her hovering over and helping him now that their parents have stepped down from the family business. Livia is having problems at her job which is why her visit to Abbey is perfect. I enjoyed the Percy Jackson mention and the glitter bomb. I laughed about that a lot. Scarlett’s mom is a piece of work and causes problems left and right. I can’t wait for the next book! I really didn’t see most of the end of the book coming.

After graduating from high school, Livia Applewhite decides to spend the summer in Eden's Ridge, Tennessee at her cousin's apple orchard. There, she meets Declan Callahan and the two fall head over heals in love. Their future looks bright and rosy until life gets in the way. It is now 12 years later, and they have a second chance at love in Tennessee - or will life throw them a curve ball once again? This is a cross-over story that connects Nolan's "Wishful Romance" series with the "Men of the Misfit Inn" series. I thought it was really clever the way Nolan used the family Christmas tree farm in Wishful and the family orchard in Wishful, Mississippid in Eden's Ridge as a "bridge" between the two. "It was a different kind of beautiful from her family's Christmas tree farm back home, but no less a testament to the broader family's commitment to nurturing and preserving the land." Declan and Livia are also 30 years old now. Nolan wrote them as mature adults - which means forgiveness and understanding played a big part in a second chance at love. It was nice to read a more realistic attempt at a renewed friendship than one of holding a grudge. I also love the way Nolan writes the character of Scarlet. Her hearing impairment was that special quality that I so often associate with Kait Nolan's stories. Children can add a special touch to a story but Nolan has a way of taking situations and turing them into truly endearing moments in the story. This was a wonderful addition to both the "Wishful" and the "Men of the Misfit Inn series" and I would definitely recommend reading it. I received an ARC for an honest review.
Declan is a hero with flaws. He walked away from the one girl he really loved when he was 18 because of responsibility but made the mistake of not talking with her first. Livia has never gotten over the fact that after a wonderful summer together, making plans for their future, Declan ghosted her. Now over a decade later they are in the same town once again. It’s Declan’s chance to apologize and maybe, just maybe there can be more.
Ms. Nolan blended two wonderful series in this one book. Bringing together the people of Wishful, MS and the found family of the Misfit Inn from Eden’s Ridge, TN. I loved the crossover of these two series and seeing several of my favorite characters from previous books. Declan, while a wonderful and dedicated father to Scarlett, is far from perfect as he ghosts Livia not once but twice. He loves her and is thrilled she may give him a second chance, but that doesn’t stop him from doing foolish things. Livia is ready to put closure to her past and move forward with not only her personal life, but her professional life as well. I loved her inner strength while I applauded her readiness to move on. Kait Nolan creates wonderful characters we can relate to and empathize with. The hijinks within the family from not only the brothers, but the next generation had me laughing out loud. I highly recommend this book, and both the Wishful and Misfit Inn series. I received an arc of this story from Wildfire Marketing, and this is my honest review.
Livia and Declan—though their summer romance at 18 was disrupted when he disappeared without a word, they’re back in Eden’s Ridge at the same time 12 years later with people pushing them to clear the air between them. So when he approaches her at a town festival, she’s willing to listen to him. Turns out his HS girlfriend turned up pregnant, so he married her, though she didn’t really want to be a mom, especially for a Deaf daughter. So he’s now a single dad. And the spark that was there all those years ago burns even brighter now. Until he disappears again, right after they’ve made love for the first time. This time, it’s because his ex-wife showed up at her parents’ where their daughter was visiting and tried to take Scarlett (the daughter) with her. So he’s spent the next few days getting parameters in place legally to protect his daughter from her mother again. But when he shows up in her hometown to apologize, this time with daughter on tow, Livia realizes that he’s always ghosted her out of a feeling of unworthiness. When he declares his feelings for her, she takes a chance on him and moves to his town to start a new business. And it looks like their HEA can become a reality. I appreciate the inclusion of a “special needs” character, but I think more insight needed to be included, even if she wasn’t a major character. Sweet story, though.

Second chance stories are one of my favorites and this one is good because it checks all the boxes. I rate it as 3 1/2 stars because it is overwhelming if you haven't read the previous books in the series. The characters are all connected and their stories infer significance to Livia and Declan's story.
I also have a difficult time liking Declan. I wanted to, trust me but I just can't do it. Understandably, at eighteen mistakes are made but what he did to Livia after the plans they were making was difficult for me to overcome. Obviously, Livia is a better person than me. Then, for Declan to do the same inconsiderate move twelve years later especially after Livia told him how hurt she was the first time is selfish. Yes, the story does explain his actions and Livia's rationale about the whole thing but I didn't like it.
Even the ending was a bit of a let down. I expect more from Declan based on his thoughts and actions towards Livia. I even downloaded the extra epilogue to get the happily ever after feeling and that fizzled too.
As I consider the book as a whole after completion, it is a good story and I would probably have enjoyed it more if I have read more of series.

Love Kait Nolan's small town romances.I have listened to a few of her audiobooks, the first one was her first book in the wishful series then listened to the first book in the misfit Inn series set in Edens Ridge. Declan and Olivia's romance is a crossover between wishful and Eden's Ridge and i loved it. It is their second chance romance. Declan ghosted Olivia 12 years ago he walked away without a word, leaving her heartbroken.Declan was devastated about walking away from Olivia, but did not have the courage to face her to tell her what happened. Now he is back in Eden's Ridge to start over and help with the family business,Olivia is also in town to visit her cousin. Declan finally tells her the truth about what happened and she is surprised, but also happy that she did not do anything to push him away. Their feelings start to rekindle as they spend time together. They have their ups and downs and eventually get to their happily ever after. If you are a fan of small town romance with loyal friends, loving family, humour, lots of heart and a happily ever after then this is the perfect book. Cannot wait for Kait's next book.

When you lose the perfect love that was meant to be but wasn’t, and you get another chance at it more than a decade later, wouldn’t you grab at the chance? That’s what happens with Livia and Declan. This is a sweet story that brings together Wishful and Eden’s Ridge, and many of the wonderful characters from both series.
This is a lovely second-chance romance. Love, as we know, never goes smoothly. While Livia and Declan were perfect together when they were teenagers, something causes Declan to pick up and walk away from Livia without a word. Can they find their way back to each other and make adjustments for the people they are now? With the help of their families, they just might make it work.
I enjoyed reading this story. If you love small town romance with strong characters, this is the book for you. As always, I look forward to whatever comes next from this author.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book from the author through BookSprout. I thank her for her generosity, but it had no effect on this review. All opinions in this review reflect my true and honest reactions to reading this book.
I love a good second chance at love romance. The angst, the forgiveness, the healing and the forging of new bonds. This book gives me all of these things with a few twists and bumps along the way. Twelve years have passed since Declan left Livia behind, heartbroken and devastated. Now they are both in the same place at the same time as they are both in Eden’s Ridge visiting family. Seeing Declan again is a bit of a shock especially since her heart still thumps fast and hard in his presence. His apology and explanation for ghosting her twelve years ago is unexpected but welcome. Learning he is a father and what happened with his ex touches her heart, and though she forgives him, can she give him a chance to break her heart all over again?
The inclusion of so many familiar characters from previous book written by this author makes this book even more enjoyable. Declan’s daughter is a delightful character whom I hope will have her own book in the future. I highly recommend reading this book amped all the other books set in Wishful and Eden’s Ridge.

Livia and Declan's story is a slow burn second chance romance. What I love most in this book is how supportive and meddling Livia's family and Declan's family are... especially Ari... Gosh, I can't wait to read her book! She is going to have her own book, right?!?
Okay, let's focus on this book first, Livia and Declan had been in love once but then Declan ghosted her without an explanation. Now Declan gets a chance to make it right but will Livia let him? Usually I would feel frustrated when a hero and a heroine fall in love with each other quickly but Kait Nolan takes time to tell us, readers, about how much in love Livia and Declan were and even if they haven't seen each other for a long time, their feeling haven't changed. It's a bitter sweet and heartwarming while I'm reading they rekindle their old flames.
I'm so glad that I get a chance to see Livia finally getting her story and I'm grateful for Kait Nolan to combine two of my favorite series in this book. I don't even know how much I miss them until I read this book. And with my heart rooting for Livia, it isn't hard for me to decide to give this book 5 stars even if I want ro smack Declan's head first, LOL.
This is book five in the Men of The Misfit Inn Series and it’s the perfect addition to the series. If you love small town romances and second chance love stories look no further than Livia Applewhite and Declan Callahan’s journey in Just Wanted You To Know. Declan is back in town for his brothers wedding and the last person he expected to bump into is Livia the woman he walked away from all those years ago. He owes her an explanation and an apology if he can only get her to listen……. I loved this read, I fell hook, line and sinker for single dad Declan, I adored Livia but it was the relationship that Declan has with his hearing impaired daughter Scarlett that took this book to another level. You know you are reading something special when you connect straight away with the characters but you know it’s really special when the characters and the story stays with you long after the final word is read and that’s what happened to me. Great read with wonderful characters that left me smiling like a Cheshire Cat.
As an ARC reader, this is my honest opinion. Ms. Nolan's introduction of the story lets you know this is a blending of Wishful and Misfit Inn characters to create an all-new story featuring Declan and Livia. I've made no secret about how the Wishful and Misfit Inn series were my favorite. Ms. Nolan created characters and communities that are so easy to fall in love with. This new story has all the warmth, family values, and strong community ties that we've come to love and cherish that are continued in each of these wonderful stories. One can't help but experience all the feels and want to know if wishes do come true. This is a standalone story, yet I'm sure if you haven't read any of the other Wishful or Misfit Inn stories, you'll definitely want to after reading this amazing story. There are no cliffhangers or cheating and it ends on a happy note. There is a bonus epilog if you prefer the beginning of a happy ever after. I LOVED IT! Enjoy.

Just Wanted You to Know. This is my first read into the Misfit Inn series, but I plan to read the rest of the series. I really enjoyed the book. I need to familiarize myself with the rest of the families. Livia is having a hard time at her job as a librarian. She is questioning whether to stay where she is or move on. Nothing is going right for her. She decides to go visit her friend Abbey in Eden's Ridge. While there, she sees her first love from high school, Declan and it brings back so many sad thoughts of how he ghosted her in the past. Declan apologizes to her and tells what really happened back then. She accepts his apology and they strike up a new friendship. But life repeats its self and Livia gets ghosted again and she now feels that maybe they don't belong together. You must read to find out what may bring them back together or keep them apart. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review of this book. All opinions stated are solely my own and no one else's.
Life got in the way and separated these young lovebirds, but now they’re both back in the same place at the same time. At the very least they can get closure for all the things that went wrong back then. As I’ve said before, and I’ll probably say many times again after this: second chances are my catnip, my Kryptonite, my reason for being. I adore seeing a couple whose opportunity at Happy Ever After got cut short getting another shot at Forever. And Declan and Livia are a couple that desperately needed another try, or two… I loved these two, and Declan’s precocious tween daughter was an absolute riot to watch in action. Particularly when paired with her impish cousin, Ari. At the end of this book, the only thing I wanted was to be able to spend even more time with these characters. I can’t wait for whatever the author brings us next. I received a complimentary advance copy of this book through Booksprout.
Declan had his life hijacked at a young age. Now he wouldn’t trade anything for his eleven-year-old daughter Scarlett, but it wasn’t easy, and his ex-wife is a thing of the past. Time to return to his hometown.
Livia was left high and dry when Declan disappeared. She is visiting her very pregnant cousin in Eden’s Ridge and considering multiple life changes, as her work as librarian is no longer ideal.
A decade is a long time to owe an apology - but it is time to clear the air. When you find “the one” it seems time has no effect on those feelings. The chemistry is still there, and the whole town is rooting for a reconciliation.
Emotional, romantic, a fabulous set of side characters, a spunky daughter, and many entertaining aspects to this incredible read.

“Well, child, it’s never too late to reinvent yourself. You don’t like where you are? Change something.” And off we go on another wild, romantic adventure! Scotland’s been fun, but I’ve really missed living in Wishful, Mississippi and Eden’s Ridge, Tennessee! Wishful’s Mama Pearl stops by with her advice while we’re eavesdropping on Livia Applewhite and her friends over a piece of famous Coconut Cream Pie at Dinner Belles. How I’ve missed that place! When you read a Kait Nolan book, you become an honorary resident of her small town narrative, and you’ll want to live there forever! Before embarking on a trip to figure out her life and find some perspective, Livia drops a coin in Wishful’s legendary fountain hoping for “a love that would last a lifetime”. Join her on her journey as she encounters a lost love, and redefines her dreams.

I love second-chance romance but when you cross over from different series you have me hook line and sinker, as I just love to catch up with some of my favourite characters from past books. In this book we have Wishful and Eden's Ridge characters coming together to give us a heartfelt story of forgiveness and second chances. Both Livia and Declan are facing new choices in their lives, but can these lead them together again?
This is a standalone story, even though it is part of a series and has characters from another series. I am always in my happy place while I read a Kait Nolan story and never want the story to end, it's like being home in another life. Scarlett is a joy to read about as is the whole Joan Reynolds foster family as it grows with each and every great story we have to joy to read.

I loved, loved this second chance, single dad, first love romance. This heartwarming and swoony story had a great mix of sweet, steamy, painful pasts, and real life issues. Declan is a single father to 11 year old Scarlett who is hard of hearing. He is in the process of moving back to his small town of Eden’s Ridge to become the manager of the Artisan’s Guild. Livia is the children’s librarian in small town Wishful but is feeling discontent in her life. She is in Eden’s Ridge to visit her cousin for two weeks. Twelve years ago Declan and Livia fell in love but Declan left without explanation when he learned his ex was pregnant. To get to their HEA, both Declan and Livia will have to let go of their pasts and take a leap of faith. Despite being short, the story was well written and included three dimensional characters who grow, and an engaging storyline I have loved this series and am sorry to see it end. 4.5 stars.
Rcvd an advanced reader copy from Booksprout for giving my two cents. I love Kaits books...keeps you hooked with every word. We meet single father Delcan of 13 year old Scarlett. When he was 18 he met the girl of his dreams and they made plans. Except those plans got kiboshed. We then mee Livia, a children's librarian and Abbeys cousin who fell in love at 18 only to be ghosted. She is going on vacay to visit Abbey and her family but what she doesn't expect is to run into Declan. He takes his daughter to her maternal grandparents and has a plan to go to the fair to find Livia. Both still feel thr pull they had 12 years ago but the fears are still there. When smtg happens with Scarlett and Livia doesn't hear from Declan in a week her worst fears come true. Will Declan be able to explain or will he have lost her for good and will Livia hear his out?
First Love with a Second Chance - Single Dad, Small Towns and Meddling Family - So Fun!
To begin, you will enjoy this book a lot more if you have read and are a fan of the Wishful and Eden's Ridge/Misfit Inn Series. It can be read as a standalone but the characters and situations have a lot more depth if you are familiar with the settings and backstories of the supporting characters and family members. That said it is Declan and Livia's second chance story and they have the chance to reunite after more than 10 years and he is now a single dad. Needless to say the spark is still there, and without repeating the plot they have a lot of history and baggage to overcome. Their families are helpful at pushing them together (and often funny - Ari and Scarlett together are the bomb - literally!), so I enjoyed seeing them finally get their HEA.
In this sweet second chance romance, I got a glimpse of characters from a few different series. Even if it was only a mention.
There were characters from the Men of Misfit Inn, Wishful, and Misfit Inn. Jonah from the Bad Boy Bakers series even got an honorable mention.
Declan and Livia were a sweet couple. As much as their reconnecting had to do with still being in love, I felt like it also had to do with their maturity, their ability to apologize and to forgive. I appreciated that Scarlett was supportive without all the tween drama.
I enjoy the small town vibe in these books. The sense of family, friendship, loyalty, and support makes for a relaxing enjoyable read. I would give this 3.5 stars.
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book received via Booksprout.
Thank you to author Kait Nolan for the advanced reading copy via Booksprout, receipt of which did not impact my review.
What a treat this book was for long-time readers of Kait’s books! Just Wanted You to Know is book five in the Men of Misfit Inn series, but joins together both her Edens Ridge and Wishful communities. It was so wonderful getting some updates from both series. Livid Applewhite is the one that got away for Declan Callahan. The summer they turned 18, they had plans - which were capsized by Declan’s ex and his best surprise, his now 11-year old daughter, Scarlett. Livia has never forgotten her first love, but she’s not interested in forgiving him or rehashing the past. Once she learns that things were not as they seemed so many years ago - could she give him a second chance?
This novella was a lovely, quick read that felt like a warm hug. Kait writes small town romances SO well!
5 Star Review Just Wanted You To Know (Men Of The Misfit Inn #5) by Kait Nolan
This was a great addition to the Men Of The Misfit Inn series. It was an entertaining read that drew me in and had me invested from the first chapter. This is Livia Applewhite and Declan Callahan’s second chance at love story which ticked all the boxes for me.
Declan has returned to his home town for his brother’s wedding and comes face to face with the woman who he walked away from without explanation years ago, Livia. Now Declan needs to apologise and explain to Livia what really happened, if only she will listen.
I fell hard and fast for single dad Declan, his relationship with his hearing impaired daughter Scarlett was heart-warming. He was totally swoon worthy man and I really liked Livia. Both Livia and Declan have been through a lot over the years and I really felt for both of them.
I was really cheering for them to get the happily ever after that they deserved. I also loved catching up with previous couples in the series and that added an additional layer to the story.
I truly enjoyed this read. Declan was delivered a blow at the end of his senior year, just after meeting his one, Livia. He had a tuff decision to make, one he did not let Livia know about, he just disappeared. Livia returned home and for 12 years neither knew what happened to the other. Livia returned to visit again with her cousins and Declan and she run into each other. Finally, he shares the truth with her and they start to rebuild their relationship. Until a desperate call comes from Delcan's 11 year old daughter. He takes off, telling Livia that he'd contact her the next day. 3-4 days pass and she does not hear from him. She knows that he has ghosted her again and heads back to her home. When Declan and Scarlett return and find out that she is gone, they head out to bring her back. HEA.
