Cruel Kiss is the prequel novella to Whitley and Gavin’s story coming out- Cruel King. It was fun, steamy, and left me wanting so much more of those two! The audio was fantastic and I can’t wait for more Gavin and Whit!

Wow, Cruel Kiss blew me away!!! This prequel novella is a fun, steamy read detailing the secret vacation fling between friends Gavin and Whitley.
I didn’t think I could get more excited about Cruel King, but that’s exactly what this prequel did. Not only did we get all of the flirty, sexiness that is Gavin and Whitley, but we also got dropped back into the Cruel world, which I love so much.
If you are debating listening or reading Cruel Kiss, choose to listen. Joe Arden and Erin Mallon are incredible together as Gavin and Whitley. They brought all the heat that is this couple!

Cruel Kiss by K.A. Linde is a novella about two friends who are attracted to each other, both players, and don't believe in relationships other than one-night stands. Whitney Bowen broke her rule and started a relationship with Robert Dawson, but she broke up with him and went on a group holiday to Puerto Rico. Gavin King, a player, and wingman, has always been attracted to Whitney but didn't know if he should act on his attraction or what would happen to their friendship. We need to read the next installment to find out.

I snagged the paperback at KA Linde’s table during Book Bonanza 2022 and I held off on reading it until recently, just knowing I would NEED more of these two.
The chemistry between Gavin and Whit is unreal. Seriously, it burns up the pages. Let me just say, Joe Arden as Gavin King is simply 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥.
This is the best prologue and has been sooo ready for the release of Cruel King.

A short Novella where we delve into two extremely close friends that are exactly the same in every way. They suck at relationships but could it work with eachother or ruin everything.

Short, steamy and cute! Gavin and Whitley were also teased for some time, and this novella delivered. I'm looking forward to their book. I loved Whitley's chaotic bi mess energy. It's a personal preference, but when a FMC is the one who's a self-sabotaging, easily-spooked commitment-phobe, I'm all on board.

It was an okay book to read. Not much happened in the story. However, I enjoyed reading it since it was a quick read. The characters and the setting of the book were well-written. I believe if the plot was more dramatic, the book could have been longer and more engaging.

I am absolutely livinggggg for Gavin and Whitley! Neither of them do relationships but when they hook up on a New Year's vacation trip? HOT. This is a novella that gives a little glimpse into the beginning of their relationship but continues in Cruel King - so I'll definitely be picking that one up soon!

Gavin King and Whitley are exactly alike, they love flirting and having sex. After Whitley breaks up with Robert, who so happens to be Gavin's best friend, the gang all fly out to Puerto Rico. During the Puerto Rico trip a lot happens, Katherine and Camden still having problems in their marriage and Whitley and Gavin finally gave into their crazy attraction to one another. I really like both Gavin and Whitley and I can't wait to read their full length novel with even more details about their pasts and what happens when they go back to New York.

Well now … that’s how you do a prequel and hook a new reader! Also, I love Joe Arden & Erin Mallon’s narration power as individuals and also when they collaborate so this was a #win all around for me!!
For me, Cruel Kiss was not just an introduction to KA Linde but also this world she has created. I not only loved the spark between Whitley and Gavin but I am also super intrigued by all the secondary characters, so of course, I’m jumping back to the beginning today to hopefully get caught up with this world by the time Cruel King comes around!
I love the premise of Gavin having feelings from the beginning and added to that is the friend’s ex-girlfriend aspect and I am certain this ride is going to get bumpy, and I am here for all of it!

This novella was the perfect, spicy teaser for the upcoming release of Cruel King, which is Gavin and Whitley's story. When I tell you that, after listening to this audiobook that I can't wait...I CANNOT WAIT. I was listening to this audiobook in my car on my commute this week, and my literal words when the end credits started were "WHAT. I need more!" So...about this book:
Gavin and Whitley have been part of the same friend group for years and have been pretty flirty with each other. They've never actually crossed the line with each other until a vacation when they are both single, the drinks are coming in fast, and the bets are being thrown out even faster (who can get the most telephone numbers in a night at a bar) AFTER Whitley accidentally watched Gavin in his outdoor shower...🥵 And the comments Gavin makes about Whitley's #DSLs...IYKYK!
The chemistry between Gavin and Whitley was off the charts amazing, and I honestly cannot wait to read their full length novel when it comes out in a couple of weeks! K.A. Linde has hit it out of the park, and provided just enough intrigue to keep readers wanting more!

Whitley has just broken up with her boyfriend, which couldn't of happened at a worse time, right before she left for a two week vacation surrounded by her coupled up friends. But Whitley is determined to not let her break up ruin her vacation and thinks what she needs is a holiday fling. What she wasn't expecting was it to be with her good friend and wing man Gavin King.
Gavin and Whitley have been flirty friends for as long as she can remember always toeing the line but they've never crossed it.
But after seeing Gavin in the shower and getting drunk one night, things take an unexpected turn and they spend the night together. Neither Gavin and Whitley could of expected how incredible being together would be and that one night wasn't enough.

I listened to the audio of Cruel Kiss and it was flirty, steamy deliciousness. This short novella focuses on the fun, flirty relationship of friends Gavin and Whitley. The only singles on a vacation with their friends, their attraction for one another finally crosses the line one steamy night. Will what happens on vacation stay on vacation or have they found something that can last?
These two are hot together. I loved their fun and playful friendship and how they alike they are. Both are hesitant to voice their feelings so I’m anticipating that misunderstandings will abound in their full story that will be released in Cruel King.
Joe Arden and Erin Mallon narrated the audio and they were perfection. Both of these narrators always bring the story to life and help you lose yourself in the story. I can’t wait for Gavin and Whitney’s full story and to find out what happens next.

Short, fun, flirty and very steamy! Whitney and Gavin are the same, players who don’t take a relation seriously, experts on the one-night-stand. Whitney is Ana English’s best friend, the crazy bestie you always need when you’re down and need to unwind. Gavin is Camden’s and Court’s friend from Cambridge. The whole bunch went to Puerto Rico for a one week vacay that promises to be a ton of fun.
Whitney broke up with her boyfriend, who was Gavin’s best friend, right on the day they were leaving. That left Whit and Gav as the single ones, so of course they paired up for the fun and games. And of course, one drunken night, the fun went sexy.
The novella is short, just to entice the reader with the explosiveness that they could be together. There’s an attraction but there’s reluctance and I can’t imagine the fun and sexy times we will have when Cruel King arrives. Can’t wait!

All of the friends in this group are easy to like, and it's obvious why they're friends. While they are living the lives of the rich and famous (and to be fair, several of them were born to it), they are also clearly invested in each other's lives. It makes the tension between Gavin and Whitley that much more delicious because you really want their friendship to survive, but they also seem ripe for at least a fling. It's a fun beach read, and by the time it's over, I wanted to know more about all the characters.

Every word Kyla has ever written stuns me. She's one of the best out there, and I enjoy everything she creates. She has a way with her writing that is her style, yet every story is unique and pulls you in from page 1.
I had the honor to listen to the audio on this one, and simply loved hearing Erin Mallon and Joe Arden! I read along while they narrated this quick and steamy romance prequel. Fresh off a breakup, and on a tropical vacation, what Whitley didn't plan for was Gavin King. Their chemistry is hot from the beginning, and the desire they have for one another is full of the KA Linde angst I crave.
I cannot wait til the end of March when we get their full story! This one is going to be EPIC!

Gavin is Robert Dawson's best friend so he felt that Whitley was off limits. Whitley is the best plastic surgeon in Manhattan. She is five feet tall with carmel colored highlights and hazel eyes, she is best friends with Anna English, the publicist and Court Kensington's girlfriend. Robert was supposed to go with the group for two weeks to St. Vincent's Resort owned by Larkin Vincent's family. So is the story of or preclude to Cruel King for me. I can't wait to read Cruel King. Good reading, if you are a K.A. Linde fan like I am you should read this book 📖📚.

Wow, these two are super hot together. I loved their friendship and how open they were with each other. Their chemistry was off the charts hot and I can’t wait for their full story when it comes out.
Joe Arden and Erin Mallon were so great as Gavin and Whitley. They brought all of their passion to life. I can’t wait to listen to them in “Cruel King”.

I love a good sexy prequel! This book seems a bit steamier than my typical KA Linde book (not complaining).
Gavin & Whitley are friends, friends who are each other wingmen (wing women). There has always been flirting between these two, but Whitley is in a relationship with Gavin's friend. But honestly, Whitley isn't a relationship kind of gal, to be honest.
These two end up being the only 2 not coupled up on a weekend trip with friends. Too much flirting and too many drinks change their relationship forever.
As I said - super sexy book; I was definitely blushing while reading (listening) this book.
